It had been a while since La Fee Verte had gone all out and held a party. Nothing about this particular day demanded celebration, but sometimes the days with nothing to throw a party for were the best occasions.

She hadn't exactly gone all-out, but the karaoke machine had been topped off with new selections - Sadako, taking a guise that was less 'waterlogged corpse' and more 'alluringly damp', was currently doing a creditable rendition of "Sir Patrick Spens" - and she was stretching her mixologist's art and preparing an array of increasingly elaborately layered pousse-cafés, lined up on the bar in an implict dare for the bold drinker. Occasionally, she'd set one on fire.

The Master found the spectacle entertaining, but he was well aware that such beverages were mainly useful in the creation of truly spectacular hangovers, and he rarely felt the need to cultivate such a thing. But La Fee Verte did make a good Sidecar, and he was sipping one and absentmindedly nibbling on a new minor success; the little pretzel sticks common on Earth bore a striking outward resemblance to a type of snack that had been popular on Gallifrey when he was a child, and with some careful spell use, he'd been able to conjure the memory of the taste into the vastly inferior Earth food. Of course, the Gallifreyan version was I-dare-you spicy, but anyone who tried to make off with any without asking deserved a little pain.

[[give a holler in your subject line if you're trying to get La Fee Verte, Sadako, or the Master's attention, or feel free to belt out some karaoke! The drinks are completely mundane, but very strong, sticky-sweet, and the flavor combinations are dubious at best.]]

All was in readiness. La Fee Verte had badgered the house elves into redecorating the Little Green Apple in a remarkably tacky faithful reproduction of retro faux-Polynesian chic. Laid out on one table was a feast of various 'island delicacies', the centerpiece of which was a whole roast pig. On the bar was a row of tiki mugs waiting to be filled, and behind it was a list of recommended tiki drinks.

The proprietress herself sat on a high stool on the karaoke stage, holding a concoction in a hollowed-out coconut. The contents were unknowable, but it was topped with a swizzle stick adorned with chunks of mango and pineapple, a pair or paper umbrellas, a looping and twisting 'krazy' straw, and a bubbling green fog. She sipped it with obvious delight.

"Aloha and mahalo!" she called out merrily. "Let the festivities begin!"

((OOC: Open thread! Warning: while none of the offering are magical, La Fee Verte's drinks are rather strong and on occasion contain more intoxicants than expected. Effects are up to you!))

Spring is here, spring, is here...

And to celebrate, there was a new special at the Little Green Apple.

Chalked on the blackboard:

Fruit Lambics are in!
Kriek
Framboise
Cassis
Aardbei
Druit
Pêche
and of course,
Pomme!

Try a cold one!

La Fee Verte was optimistic.

Saint Patrick's Day was just around the corner. A whole holiday, just for drinking! With an emphasis on green, at that. She commandeered a small army of house elves to give the Little Green Apple a thorough top-to-bottom cleaning, made sure to restock all the shisha flavors, scrawled a variety of verdant-hued drink specials on the chalkboard behind the bar, and smiled.

It should be a very good holiday.

Her mood lifted, she decided to treat herself to a go at the karaoke machine.

Gloomy Sunday, in the original Hungarian.

Flyers had appeared all over the school.

Come to the Little Green Apple's Holiday Spectacular! Fine food and drink! Door Prizes! Karaoke! Special Holiday-Only smoking blends!

The cozy little establishment had been adorned with banners in deep gold and rich jewel tones, and the smell of spices filled the air.Jones holiday sodas were laid out at each table and booth. A buffet table was loaded with festive treats; roast goose, ornate marzipan fruits, gingerbread men (and an elaborate gingerbread house), mince pies, rum balls, a selection of fine cheeses, and many other delicacies. And of course there was the drinks table, featuring a punchbowl brimming with a vividly green concoction, eggnog (also faintly greenish) dusted with nutmeg, mulled wine, hot cider, and rich cocoa flowed freely.

To complete the festivities, La Fee Verte had brought out the karaoke machine. What party would be complete without it?

"Welcome, darlings! Welcome to the Little Green Apple's Holiday Spectacular!"

((OOC: The punch and eggnog are, of course, intensely alcoholic, as are a few of the holiday treats. The real culprit, however, is the cider! Any character who drinks it is liable to suffer the bizarre, if temporary, magical effect of your choosing.))

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon. Too quiet, really. Karaoke time! La Fee Verte propped open the doors of the Little Green Apple, cranked up the karaoke machine, and began to sing, trusting that it would draw others in.

And these! )

But finally, it was opening night. Bottles of hard-to-find BPAL, assorted smokeables, exotic liqueurs and fine chocolate... oh, all the addictive sumptuous delights one might crave!

And of course La Fee herself was done up as well )

And she herself took the stage first, to break in the karaoke machine.

The appointed hour had come, and the Great Hall was set up for a karaoke party, just like Ryuuji had promised. There were tables with snacks and drinks, chairs set up next to them to let people sit down, a stage with a karaoke machine and their host for the evening was currently standing up there, waving cheerfully at the people starting to come in.

"Hey, everyone! Thanks for showing up. I hope you all have a good night -- remember, duets are the most awesome thing ever -- and enjoy the performances! I'm kick-starting the night with a song from Voltaire that's dedicated to the old reputation of Slytherin, and then I'll hand the mike over to anyone that wants to show off."

Without any further ado, he launched into a self-mocking rendition of When You're Evil.

((Okay everyone, play nice. Stick your songs up on whatever site you like or link to the artist directly if they'll let you, but make sure you include a link to the song in your comment. If you want your char to sing but ICly they wouldn't, put 'ENABLE ME' in the subject line of your comment and someone will wander by to encourage them to belt out a ballad.))

It had occured to Ryuuji that it had been rather a while since he'd held a karaoke party, and those were usually well-attended and fun, weren't they? He really ought to hold another one. Maybe he could ask River and Stephen to -- no, best not to disturb them during their second honeymoon period. He added ECR to the list of party refreshments anyway, handed it to the house elves, then busied himself going around the school and sticking the following poster up everywhere.

Ryuuji grinned easily at the crowd that had amassed, tossing his ponytail out of habit, and stepped a little closer to the mike, "Good evening, everyone! Welcome to Hogwarts' third karaoke night, hosted by myself, Sara the Ravenclaw Prefect, and Oz the Gryffindor Prefect. When you come up here, intro yourself, please? It's a big school, and just keeps getting bigger."

That said, he tilted his head at Sara and Oz, indicating it was their turn to speak if they wanted to say anything.

"Thanks, Ryuuji! Isn't it great to see everyone here for a night of fun and music? We've got a lot of talent among both our staff and student body, so I hope to see lots of you on stage tonight! And don't worry if you don't think you've got any talent. I'll be happy to buy you a little courage at the bar. Sometimes those performances turn out to be the most memorable. "

Sara winked and looked to Oz.

Oz nodded a couple times and waved. "Hey."He waited a moment before pointing out the obvious. "I'm Oz. If you're Gryffindor and... are being eaten by a flesh-eating virus, just let me know. Even if you're not Gryffindor, just tell me. Those things are nasty."

"Gods, yeah." Ryuuji agreed easily, then waved a hand at the machine in the corner, "That's the karaoke machine, by the way. Just type in the name of the song you want to sing, and it'll start up the music for you. We'll demo it out for you."

Passing Oz the mike, he went over and typed in This Much Fun -- Cowboy Mouth, returning in time to cheerfully belt out the lyrics with the other two. When it was finished, he laughed and waved at the crowd, "Alright everyone, come up and take a turn!"

With that, the three Prefects left the stage.

((Remember, if your char ICly needs enabling or other people to join in a crowd song, just stick a plea in the subject line of your comment. ^_~))

The Great Hall has been decorated appropriately for the Masquerade, many Transfiguration spells cast and the House Elves all on the highest of alerts, currently attired in toga-like napkins. The floor has been changed to white marble, with small green tables of food and drink lining the sides of the walls, interposed with benches and seats for those who'd rather talk than dance.

The majority of the hall is cleared for dancing, with a throne-table at the far end for Fillerbunny to sit and greet his guests, and a small stage on the left side for those who'd like to demonstrate their karaoke skills. On the right side, there's a DJ stand in place of live music.

Behind the throne, a red velvet curtain conceals a balcony that overlooks the garden, quiet and secluded for those who'd rather not leave the party entirely but would like some respite from the noise. The curtain is enchanted to deaden sound, so that nobody from inside the party can eavesdrop on the people on the balcony.

The decorations are in pale green, soft yellow, white, rose pink, and the trimming are in the four House colors.

((Comments are disabled, so make the threads as long as you like, or hop on to MSN/AIM and continue logs there if you like and post them afterwards. Party lasts until about 7AM, gametime, and runs for as long as needed IRL. Karaoke goes the same as usual: Post your char going up to sing, along with a yousendit link to the song in question.

Edit: Feel free to post any dolls of your char that you've made!))

Conjuring the karaoke machine to float into the Great Hall, noticing vaguely that it looked somewhat different than usual, Ryuuji clapped his hands for attention, then called out as blithely as he could, "Listen up, everyone! Let's put on an impromptu show so we'll have something to do besides mope around and wonder what happened yesterday. Pick a song, any song, then come up here and perform as many times you like."

To break the ice, he started off with Walk Away by Flogging Molly - nothing like a cheerful Irish song about being dead to brighten your mood - then bowed and left the stage for the next performer. I wonder if there's any way to make Anne ditch me?

((For all the people that weren't here for the original karaoke RP, you just upload the song to yousendit then post the link in your comment along with a little RP blurb about your char performing, if you like.))

KARAOKE!

((Sorry about the delay but it took me a while to decide how to play this. If you think it's unrealistic for your character to have been drunk enough/influenced by Ryuuji, you don't have to play along. Otherwise, pick any song you think your char would have sung, upload it to yousendit, then comment with a link. Easy way to share musical tastes! And if your char was drunk enough, pick a song they'd never normally sing and upload that. XD))

Over the course of the evening, everyone had been roped into trying out the karaoke machine at one point or another. Or trying it out several times, since Ryuuji hadn't been quite sure if he'd caught everyone and had compensated for that by pushing anyone he caught onto the stage and insisting that they serenade the pub.

For himself, he'd ended up performing once to break the ice, once for the hell of it and once near the end of the evening to prove he was still sober. And the fact that he thought that would prove he was sober probably testified to the fact that he was more than a little intoxicated by that point.

Songs were:

Every Me and Every You - Placebo.

The Calender Hung Itself - Bright Eyes.

Irresponsible - Voltaire.
