This is a sorting and RP community for fictional characters. If you are a fictional character, please complete the application below and post it. The members of this community will then sort you and/or squib you, while showing off their wit and charm.

Hogwarts Hocus began as a crack parody of elite sorting communities. It has since developed into a hybrid crack sorting community and crack RPG. Note the common factor here is CRACK!

Characters from all sorts of published fandom (books, movies, tv, comics, webcomics, etc) are allowed as long as it isn't a canon that you yourself created. Original characters are not. (Please note that if you wish to apply as a Potterverse character, there are special rules for this.) Squibbait is accepted. Additional information can be found in the rules.

Since there's no way we can know every fictional canon and every character's name on sight, much less from icons, the mods won't grant membership in the comm to your character journal until and unless you specify the character's name and canon in the character journal's LJ profile.

If you want to play but aren't sure who to play as, ugly_old_hat keeps a list of character suggestions in its journal. Or you can browse the adoption list or popcorn plaque and take over an inactive character. Just remember, before playing, contact other players in that canon to avoid future issues.

Information on Sorting, applying, unpopcorning, contacting players, etc. can be found in the rules.Read them! Remember: they're there because at some point someone messed up enough that it was necessary to make these rules in the first place. Don't be a cautionary tale, folks!

Non-Sorting RP threads are more than welcome. OOC questions to the mods should be posed in a comment to the OOC Questions post.

Please state, in the subject line, your name and the fandom you've come from, and tag your application with the 'application' tag.

In conjunction with posting your character's application, you must include the following out-of-character statement, replacing the blanks with your initials (or your Net handle, or your character's initials, or anyone's initials!) after each sentence to indicate that you have read our rules and agree to abide by them. Again, this is an OOC disclaimer, not being read by your character or filled out in-character:

In compliance with the rules of the game, do NOT post your application UNTIL you have talked with the players of characters who have extensive canonical interaction with yours, if there are currently such characters present in the game.
