Hey all, I know it's been a while.
Since LJ has begun purging inactive accounts, I've motivated to stop putting off the inevitable and pop my characters.

I've loved playing with you all, and breaking into rp here has been a load of fun. I'll miss you, but I'll still be around at my tumblr. Bonne Chance!

This popping affects Kurama, River Tam, Tylendel, Teatime, Charlie B Barkin, Brendan, Eleventh Doctor, and Hit Girl. There may be one or two more that I've since forgotten about, but I think that's the list.

Thanks again <3

It had been a productive summer for A's garden, and he'd laid in plenty of preserves and pickles and other culinary delights. But the original purpose of his garden had been medicinal, and that didn't go neglected either. He was working on a batch of salve now, carefully grinding herbs with a mortar and pestle, stirring lightly simmering pots of melting beeswax. It was careful work, but not overly demanding, and having River's company made it as pleasant as any leisurely afternoon.

"If this batch comes out well, we should get some nicer jars," he mused, stirring cocoa butter into melting wax. "We could make balms to give as gifts."

OOC: Backdated to July 22; the kitchen will be back in shape for Beowulf, of course. Happy Birthday, Bad Fox :D A appears with mun approval.

Observation happened to be a bit of a specialty of River's. Since she'd been at Hogwarts (at least in recent memory) she'd observed that, on the same day every year, the House Elves followed that Bad Fox around and forced him to eat cake and accept small things in packages. River might not have been the type to remember to get someone a gift, but she knew a birthday when she saw one.

This year, though, the elves seemed to be distracted by a sudden jungle of vines infiltrating the kitchens. They were too busy trying to magic them away (or, when that failed, take axes and various cutlery to the indomitable vines) to remember that it was time to torment one of the staff.

And so it befell River, who observed that tradition should be upheld, to make sure Kurama had a very festive birthday indeed. )

Be sure to specify if you want to talk to River or A, or 'congratulate' Kurama in your reply, if applicable. Many happy returns!

edit because one of these rooms is not like the other.

The Doctor hadn't always loved Halloween, but on those worlds that celebrated it (or something like it) he definitely tried to join in the fun, if there was nothing overtly intent on re-enacting a favorite horror film but with real knives instead of rubber props. He supposed at Hogwarts there was no danger of this (and even if there was, the danger was minimized) and thus strolled confidently over the grounds, rambling until he came to a pile of rather gorgeous pumpkins. He stared at them a minute, then at the door they framed. A sign read:

Pumpkins, free to a good carver.

Candy within, Trick-or-Treaters welcome.

Any tricks resulting in broken glass will be met with a boot up someone's back end.

The last bit, he noted, was scrawled rather hastily in something that his mind wanted to read as Japanese, but his eyes were registering as English. The rest was in big, spiky, dramatic handwriting, with bats, cats, and pumpkins scribbled all over the place. It very nearly covered a plaque that read 'Professor Minaminaminamino." What a name. He grinned and ducked in.

He realized what the sign meant about the boots when he saw the young girl sitting at one table. )

((OOC: I suck at making things short. Specify if you want River, Eleventy, or Kurama to play with, or be surprised <3 ))

And finally, a compy post to the entire school.

If you see a man or woman with blond hair carrying around a basket of blue orbs or a sword, and answers to the name 'Apos', be careful. This person is not to be trusted, as he is an indestructible, murderous sadist.

It was a common game from childhood. Some tiles were safe, the others lava. River's version was a bit skewed, and anyone watching her kick and punch the air above each 'safe' tile before she stepped to it would probably be confused.

In River's playground, all the safe areas had Reavers for beating.

Her progress was followed carefully by the now more catlike kittens Branch and Bloom, who were quite good at the game, pawing at invisible cat-reavers in the air.

She saw Simon out of the corner of her eye, and spun on her toes down a hallway with far fewer safe areas. After a flying kick to the head of another unseen enemy, she stopped and waved. "Ni-hao."

(backdated to New Year's Eve)

A wanted it to be a special night. New Year's Eve was one of those holidays that was meant to be romantic, wasn't it? It was his intention that it be a romantic night for River. Wishbone was looking after the cats and he'd made a special meal for the two of them. There was even champagne (selected with L's assistance). He wanted to make sure that River had a wonderful start to the new year. Candles were lit, the table was laid, and he was anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Mei-mei -

I've got a surprise for you: tickets to the London Ballet. Four tickets, actually, since I was sure you'd want A to see it as well. There's someone I'm bringing as well, whom I'd like you to meet.

The performance will be of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. Can you imagine, seeing it performed on Tchaikovsky's own home planet? Sometimes it's hard to believe we're here, on Earth-That-Was, and sometimes it's even harder to believe we're here.

Love,
Simon

It was impossible for A to miss the turn of seasons, with all the work he did outdoors in his garden. Impossible to miss the cool turn the weather had taken. It was a little sad to see summer go, but there was beauty in colder weather as well.

But some things required warmth, and there was just barely enough. Thus, the owl.

River,

Would you like to have a last picnic in the garden before it gets too cold? It is nice out today, just a little windy. I will bring the cats unless you would prefer a catless picnic. Let me know if you would like that.

The shopping trip with L had been humiliating, and had managed to put A quite off the matter for a while. But the more he thought about the unpleasant exercise, the more he hoped that all that stress would lead somewhere, and even if that wouldn't be immediately, the idea of taking further steps in that direction was a pleaant one.

And as he'd promised L, he had been practicing. When the time came, he'd been ready.

His other recent lesson, with Kurama, had been far more immediately satisfying. The crossbreeding had been successful, and he was now in possession of some very unusual rose petals. It had sparked an idea, although he wasn't sure if it was something River would go for.

Still, it was always nice to see her. He sent an owl inviting her to visit and went about certain preparations that would hopefully be well recieved.

So, yes, the muns are plotting. Poor Maddie, the target of that plotting. Little does she know that as she goes into the Compy Lab to see what horrorswonders await her.

Behold, the shiny technology.

Behold, the intrawebs.

Behold, the BBS, which, only occasionally like the BBC, is calling her name.

Actually, I don't believe the BBC called Maddie.

The mun has a disgraceful habit of following bunny trails in Maddie's posts. Let us get to the point, if you please.

Maddie goes into the Compy Lab and after registering the very clever screenname of "MysteryAuthor" posts the following:

As one who is new to this bulletin board service style of posting,
I was wondering how does one integrate this into normal social gatherings?
Is it an adjunct to mixers and face to face contact or a replacement for them?

Maddie really doesn't know much about these things.

Cooking magazines had become something of a hobby to River of late. A had mentioned not too long ago handing out a meal again in the Great Hall, and one of the magazines she'd purloined from the old stacks in the library had yielded a recipe for 'cucumber sandwiches' and entertaining to plan around the eating of said snacks. Since the sandwiches were rather easy to eat, and there were plenty cucumbers available for the using, she noted A to join her in the kitchen.

There, they made scores of cucumber sandwiches with butter, vegetable, and cheese spreads, all to be served with iced mint tea. A sign at the entrance to the Great Hall invited everyone to partake, with the exception of troublemakers and ne'er-do-wells.

((Your characters may live free of fear; the food is untainted by anything but being made with love.))

It was a nice day, and A decided a picnic would be good. Specifically, a picnic with River, in the out-of-the-way mangosteen grove. It was with that in mind that he packed a picnic lunch, then knocked on her door. If the didn't want to go, he could send the food to Kaga or the Baron, and if she said yes, they wouldn't have to wait to leave.

He was smiling at his cleverness while he waited for her to open the door.

Being a very intelligent young lady, River realized soon after the most recent date with A (though not too soon, there had been plenty of cuddling and snuggling) that Things were starting to gt a little more grown up between them, and that it was probably time to talk to someone. Someone who wasn't her brother, because... well, Simon wasn't really ready for that.

Her other choices were limited. There was the Hospital Wing, but she didn't really know anyone there except Wishbone really wasn't the guy... er, dog to go to for these kinds of questions. So, the Bad Fox or... Kusuriyuri!

Kusuriyuri was A's sensei, and obviously quite good at his craft, so definitely the best person to go to. Confident in her decision, River made her way to the Divination office, knocking politely on the door when she arrived.
[identity profile] biblerewrite.livejournal.com
Another day well-spent studying, exploring, and playing with cats and a very solemn tarsier was coming to a close when River noticed a note left for her on her desk. It was an invitation from A to join him for dinner (and so sweetly formal it was, too) and obviously an offer she wouldn't dream of refusing.

She was about to turn around and leave immediately, but paused. Wouldn't be such a bother to wear something nicer than Hogwarts-brand salvation army Room of Requirement stuff. So she raided her closet, found something a bit nicer (probably left behind by another student, or the her that had been here before, considering the fit) and then set on her way, quite content.

River's feet had started walking before her cognition caught up with her brain catching up with her feet. But her head was right where her feet were going: wherever A was. There was a bad, black feeling where a happy, gentle feeling should be. This was abnormal, as well as scary and painful. She went as fast as her feet could take her - which was, in fact, very fast - right to A's door.

A had spent a productive day's experimentation with River - culinary experimentation, that is! He had promised to send Baron Harkonnen something to eat, and he always liked giving his friends something to eat.

The dishes they'd fixed had been meatloaf, creamed spinach with mushrooms and bacon, and whole roasted new potatoes, all seasoned with nutmeg, onion, and black pepper in varying ratios. Dessert was red velvet cake.

After devouring some with River, he sent house elves around to some friends with plates of food and notes.
