Well, I told Near I was going to Osaka with Matt and Kurama. He gave me a look, but didn't make me promise not to steal anything. He just told me to have somebody send back my severed remains in a basket, which was disturbing from him. I've my usual at the base of my back and the 9mil in a shoulder holster under my vest. I've got chocolate in my pockets and a couple of tools that might come in handy scattered here and there. "Heya, Slacker, ready?" I ask Matt as I come up behind him.

Kurama came up behind Mello just in time to hear that charming statement and flicked the back of the blond's head. "You're so charming to your friends, Mello. It's a wonder you don't have more of them."

"Hey! I've been doing important work! I nearly have an Xbox working on Wii controls!"

Important work. Yeah.

From:

I look over my shoulder at Kurama. "See, I do not lie about my friends." I turn back to Matt. "Seriously, have you don't anything really important or are you going to improvise at the last moment?"

"I'm sure if I knew what an xbox or wii was I'd think it was important too." Kurama shoved his hands in his pockets, looking over his two partners in crime.

"Well," he drawled, rocking back on his heels, "I suppose it's time for us to start padding our juvenile records. Shall we?"

"Okay," here Matt rolled his eyes, "I've also been networking, finding out exactly where we can and can't go if we want to avoid proto-selves. Got all of America and Europe mapped."

Matt pocketed his GBA and stood up. "Let's do this."

"You're too old for juvie," I say to Kurama. "And, yeah, let's go." I've been itching for an outing like this for a while.

From:

"I'm young at heart. Let's mosey." He turned with them towards the fireplace room, falling into step just behind Mello. "What's that thing you were playing with, Matt?"

"Game Boy Advance, some game I picked up somewhere. It's not that good." Matt planned on either chucking it or modding it. "So how do we get to Japan anyway?"

I glare at Matt a moment. "Floo to Diagon Alley then this thing they call a port key to Osaka. Almost no travel time. And you said you were prepared," I add.

"Advance? Last thing I remember was the color." He remembered seeing advertisements for 'playstation' systems when he'd gone with Mello to London, but hadn't paid much attention.

"Hell, THIS is outdated. The big thing is the DSi, now. So sue me, Mello, I haven't left the wizarding world since I came back."

I roll my eyes at him. "And you call this prepared. Explain to me why I rely on you?" I demand. Overly focused, that Hacker.

Kurama ignored Mello's bitching for the time being. He was more interested in Matt's toy. "That' outdated? I'm guessing nobody plays on the super nintendo anymore, huh?"

"Only the hardcore Nintendo hags." Matt shamelessly raised his hand. "Unless you count SNES games on the Virtual Console."

Figures. I'll let them babble for a while, I suppose. It'll be easier than shutting them up for now.

"Like an emulator on your computer? I've heard about that kind of thing. Does it work any good?"

From:

"Sort of, except this one's legal. It's a program on the Nintendo Wii that lets you play older games that you can buy on there, like the NES and the N64. I heard they're even going to release some Commodore 64 games on there."

Kurama nodded, putting that information away. He'd clocked maybe more hours than all of his friends combined trying to beat Amanuma's score at Goblin City... Games fascinated the hell out of him. It was a perfection thing.

"So, for Nintendo crap, this Wii is the way to go? What about those other systems? Like old Sega stuff?"

"Sega no longer makes systems. Just games. The big names in video game consoles are Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. The current generation is XBox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. The Wii's still trying to keep up with demand, people aren't buying PS3s cause it's a heavy investment with little games of value, and the 360 had a headstart anyway. There are also the handhelds. Sony has a PSP, and Nintendo has the DS, which they just upgraded to a DSi."

"I knew I should've invested in that stuff," he sighed. He noticed Mello had been particularly quiet and poked the back of his head. "What's the matter, blondie? Not a fan of nerd culture?"

"Culture?" I snort. "Is that what you call it? And here, I thought it was avoiding reality."

Yeah...I'm gonna catch it for that.

Matt didn't say anything. All he did was lift his goggles up and glare at Mello with unfiltered eyes.
