"I think back in the day it was some sort of merit system. No one bothers anymore, I think." Matt slid into the driver's seat and started the car.

"It promotes school spirit. Don't make me go all 'listen to your teacher' on the two of you punks."

From:

"Bite me, old man," I mutter, checking over my equipment.

Matt only took it carefully to get out of where they parked. Then he started peeling and going faster.

From:

"You'd taste terrible, Mello."

The sun was inching closer to the horizon as they drove, and Kurama kept a careful eye out for victims. So far it was just the usual evening street crowd, but he figured opportunities would arise as they got closer to the city center.

From:

"And you probably have rabies," I say. Everything seems to have survived the changes in size. I slide a magazine into the 9mil and put a bullet in the pipe before resetting the safety on it.

From:

Matt ignored them both until they got closer to the heart of the city, then he said, "All right, keep an eye out for someone."

From:

"Just keep me away from water and bright lights and we should be fine," he grinned, flicking the back of Mello's head just because. Then his eye caught the telltale bad haircut and cheap suit of a midlevel flunky. "Matt, target at two o'clock."

Why the fucking hell do I think I like that rotten kitsune? "One of these days, we're going to test that no kill spell," I growl at him,the gun ready in my lap.

Matt slowed down slightly, enough that the targets could see the car in all it's glory.

Then he flipped them off and gunned it.

From:

Kurama had to dig his claws into the headrest of Mello's seat to keep from flying backwards when Matt hit the gas, but it was worth it for the enraged look on the gansters' faces. He watched them as they flew by, gesturing to each other wildly and then running for their own (extremely expensive looking) car.

He laughed, righting himself so he could watch the pursuit easier. "Well, attention achieved! How long do you think they'll chase us for?"

I laugh. "Depends on how good my aim is today." I twist to look out the back window. "So, low level or you think they have guns?" Given that guns are rather hard to come buy, the odds are pretty even, I'd think.

"Till we lose 'em or shoot 'em! Let me know if they do have guns, I'll need to make sure they don't shoot out my mirrors!" Matt turned sharply to the left.

Their pursuers gave merry chase, leaning out windows and screaming obscenities while dodging traffic. A few cops tried flagging bot cars down, but fell by the wayside as quickly as they appeared.

After a few minutes chase the guy in the passenger's seat (a snakey looking dude with a pompadour haircut that reminded him of Kuwabara) disappeared for a moment and then leaned out again, and Kurama found himself looking down the barrel of a big, flashy gun.

"Gun! Down!"

"Ah, but this is where it gets fun," I say. Dear god, who uses a Colt 45 revolver any more. "Pick a target, mirror, tire, or head?" I flick the safety off the gun and turn so I can lean out the window.

Matt kept his eye on the gun but kept driving. "Mirror first. If they don't scare off then go for the head."

Kurama made sure to keep well out of Mello's way, not willing to get any closer to the gun than he had to. The yakuza wasn't shooting with any kind of accuracy, and was making big, stupid gestures to try and seem frightening. "These clowns are the best the criminal world has to offer these days?"

From:

"What losers," I say and lean out the window. The wing mirror is actually a pretty easy target and explodes nicely. "Oh, darn, I got his head, too," I say without remorse as the guy goes back into the car, bleeding. I sigh. "What is that, five point deduction?"

From:

Matt laughed. "Then we can skip straight to tire, unless you want to try again. Shit!" Matt swerved slightly to avoid one on the other side gunning for his mirror.

He barely avoided it.

Kurama winced at the noise from the shots, but didn't lose his grin. He leaned out the window, yelling taunts at the Yakuza for about two seconds before another bullet went whizzing past his ear. He yelped and ducked back into the car. Motherfuckers had singed his hair. He held out his hand to Mello.
"Gimme that before you shoot it, we'll give 'em a nice parting gift."

I give him a weird look but flick on the safety and hand it to him, butt first. "What the hell are you going to do with my gun?" I ask.

From:

"Fucking....do what you plan to do quickly before I do!" Matt had his own gun out.
