[Closed, Mello, Matt, Kurama] Mayhem in Osaka

So.

Someone worse than B had come to Hogwarts.

Matt momentarily cursed his semi-reclusive lifestyle, but reconsidered it. After all, he didn't remember B. It was probably best that way.

Mello had said that Kurama was still interested in coming to Osaka with them. Which was good. Sometimes you needed to get out of the er, castle, and with a somewhat limited choice of cities, Matt and Mello should take every chance they get.

Checking and double checking that he had enough ammo, Matt settled down with a Game Boy Advance.

"You make things too easy on him, Matt." I slide out. "Want something? Some soup? Soft rice?" I ask Kurama.

"Why wait?" Matt shrugged, getting out. He went in ahead of Mello, getting junk food.

"Wiseass," Kurama grinned, though he didn't specify who. He cut the engine and got out as well, not bothering to lock the car. He grabbed drinks and snacks, tossing a children's digestion aid at Mello. "You'll need that."

I pick up a geriatric vitamin and throw it at him along with the digestive aid, aiming for the back of his head. "You'll need it more." I pick up a bento and some chips and a large soda and several chocolate bars, including one I'll probably regret, a green tea Kit-Kat.

Matt's list was similar, except less candy bars and more chips. He went ahead and paid for his, getting out to the car in time to scare off some punk.

"Mm, the delicacies of old age," Kurama muttered before dropping the medicine on the shelf. He grabbed a handful of curry buns to top off his purchase, before paying the very nervous-looking cashier and following Matt out to the car.

"So, what say? we can find a place close to the portkey to chill and snack, or do you want to drive around some more?"

I pay the clerk and smile sweetly at him, which for some reason gets him to hand back all my money and beg me to leave. I didn't think I looked that bad and I had left the gun in the car.

"Well, we have less than an hour left." Like hell I'm dealing with Near's snarky ass comments when I get back if we're late. "So, chill?"

"Chill," Matt said, opening a bag of chips.

Kurama nodded and drove - without incident, this time - through the back roads and back to the general area of the travel agency and the garage where they'd snatched the car. The owner would probably be missing it by now, he was certain. He parked and munched on a curry bun, drawing little patterns with his finger on the steering wheel.

I eat the bento. "We'll want to obliterate our fingerprints. It wouldn't do to have me be able to trace those." I look up at the ceiling of the garage and then laugh. "This has been a blast."

Matt chewed thoughtfully, pondering what would be the best way to get rid of those fingerprints.

"You can't trace a dead person," Kurama pointed out. "Shuuichi Minamino's been dead for... almost twenty years." He smiled. "We've got to do this more often."

I frown at him. "Fine, we'll leave yours in. I think obliterate will work." I then smirk. "We should."

Matt swallowed and nodded. "Can you? I'm thinking of something to counter Karasu."

Kurama continued his tracing, making little symbols for 'luck' and 'fortune.' After all, the car's owner had so generously allowed their night on the town, why not give a little fox blessing in return?

"What have you got in mind, Matt? Because I'm all for just dragging him off campus and shooting him."

"Would give us a chance to test if that no-kill thing applies to students or campus," I say. "I've been working with A on defensive magic. Aside from the Crucious, I really am not sure what offensive magic will work against him. And, given what we already know of him, it's debatable that'll do any good."

"No, it's more a way to track him. Evasion first."

Kurama sighed, finishing his little spell and turning his attention to the food. "You can only evade someone like him for so long before he runs you into a corner. He's relentless."

"We'll think of something," I say. "We don't give up. We took care of B; we can deal with Karasu. Besides there are a lot more of us."

"That's more Mello's department. He figures out how to hit, I figure out how to get away." Even if it meant sacrificing himself to help Mello escape.

"Still," Kurama slouched in his seat. "It's irritating. One does have a tendency to jump at shadows when there's someone about who has a habit of hiding in them."

I frown. "I thought we were out here to have fun, not throw a pity party, old man. You forget already?"

Matt made a note to experiment with something once he got L distracted.

"You need to mellow out. Next time, we're staying home and getting you high."

Kurama casually flipped off Mello as he thought about that. "I do have some White Widow (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=white+widow) growing in the back of greenhouse three..."

"That sounds good," I say. "Better than hydroponic stuff grown in LSD laced water."
