"May I ask why we're looking for kimono fabric and why you're upset about it? You mentioned that Kusu had been hurt, but...?" I say softly. I put my hands in my pockets and follow him.

Kurama paused. There was no reason to keep Mello in the dark, no matter how much he disliked the subject. After all, part of the reason they'd taken this trip was to try and work out the problem of Karasu.

"Karasu hurt him badly, enough to sear right through his clothing. It irritates me mostly because Kusuriyuri was harmed but also..." he sighed, running his hands down a bolt of heavy silk. "His robes are part of his old life, something that makes him comfortable and helps him connect to 'home.' He doesn't feel right in modern dress, so I thought I'd look for a way to mend his things. It is the very least I can do."

"We'll contain him," I promise. "We'll figure out a way to keep him from hurting anyone else and to make him pay." Fucking bastard.

Mello's conviction was touching, but Kurama knew better than to trust completely in such a thing. "I wish it were as easy to do as it is to say," he murmured, drifting down the aisle.

I scowl at him. "I didn't think it'd be easy. If it were easy, it would be done already." I follow him, looking at the fabrics. "We contained one of us, one who was trained with all the same tricks we know, who knew what all our moves would be. We can contain him, too. It's a matter of knowing the parameters of his abilities and curtailing them."

Kurama smiled, holding up his hands in surrender. "I concede your point. The only questions now are how to contain him. Even for a demon, he is very sly." Kurama paused, examining a length of obi cloth, and then set it aside. "Shopping for someone else sucks, by the way."

I smirk. "So are we," I say about the sly.

I look around the shop. "Why not pick things you'd like to see him in? Won't that work out?" I ask. "Or is it you can't decide what you'd like to see him in the most?" I add, teasing slightly.

"Well, there's that," he grinned, "and also that I don't trust myself to not go down a long and winding road of slightly perverted wish fulfillment."

I look around. "I'm really not seeing how you could do that," I say flatly. "Unless you're planning on dressing him like a maiko."

From:

Kurama scoffed. "You have no imagination," he said haughtily. Not that he'd elaborate on his idea. Some things were just a little too personal.

I roll my eyes at him. "Obviously," I say flatly. This just isn't something I really get into. Headshops, leather stores, my imagination can run a million different ways. Fabric...just not quite seeing it.

Kurama didn't bother responding, instead marking down the bolts he wanted, paying the stunned-looking cashier, and securing their shipment to London for him to grab once the trip was over.

"And, are you quite satisfied now?" I ask. "Or shall we find a shop that sells premade kimono as well?" Though, it doesn't occur to me to doubt he can sew for some reason.

"It's all right, I don't need to buy pre-made." Sewing was a necessary skill, and he was rather proud of his ability.

"Let's grab Matt and find you a basket."

I roll my eyes. "There are times I'd like a more normal relationship, but I doubt I'd be able to stand it, too."

Matt had been merrily content to play his game for hours at a time, but when he caught Mello and Kurama coming out he sighed and turned off the game, following them.

"No nerd patterns Matt, I tried." He said with mock sorrow. "Someday, though."

From:

"There's a store just over there," I point, "that specializes in yukata. They might have something suitably dorky enough for you. Or we could find it online, I'm sure."

From:

"Lets not. Not interested. Now let's go find that basket, the sun's starting to go down."

"What about a cute strawberry-patterned one? I bet Ryuuzaki would love that."

From:

"Thank you for that image of 'do not want,'" I reply sourly. "There," I point to a store. "They have baskets."

Matt rolled his eyes. "Mello would rather die then do anything that hints that he likes Ryuzaki."

"That's a shame, he seems like quite a charming fellow." Not counting, of course, the fact that Ryuuzaki didn't care for either Kurama or Kusuriyuri, and that Kurama had a rather difficult time holding a civil conversation with him. He lingered just outside the doorway of the store. "Would you like company in choosing your gift or would you rather it be a more personal errand?"

"Charming, my ass," I mutter. "And, do what you like. I'm sure you'll have an opinion either way." I pause. "On second thought, might as well come with. That way you can get all your opinions out at once."
