Flying was becoming a familiar, comforting thing.

Actually trying to practice, though... that was less comfortable. But there was definitely something satisfying, Nny reflected, about hitting bludgers through the air, looping around as they swung back towards them, and smacking them away again.

"You should probably try to hit at me. It wouldn't let me get any practice if I don't have a chance to try dodging them."

"Right, then." He grinned darkly, watching the bludger arc back towards him and readying his bat.

Teatime laughed. "Should I start flying for my life now, then?"

Instead of answering, he swung hard at the bludger at it flew back at him, sending it hurtling directly at Teatime.

Quickly, Teatime directed his broom downwards, and dove out of the way. Sometimes he was irritated by the slow response brooms tended to have, but...putting that out of mind, he focused instead on not getting pummeled to death by a flying ball of doom.

Giggling, Nny swung his broom around, bat poised for another strike. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed someone on the ground... watching, maybe?... but trying to make out who it was from this height would take away attention needed to follow the bludger's trajectory.

Teatime continued to outmaneuver the Bludger, smiling widely as he did so. There was something fun about avoiding them, really...perhaps it was the continuation of life.

It was easier to focus on the Bludger when it was homing in on Teatime and not him. As long as it was closer to Teatime... if Nny got too close, it would double back towards him. But he was ready for it.

Moving away from the threatening Bludger, Teatime remarked, "You know, it'd really be nice if we had a Snitch or some equivalent..."

"We used those throwing stars last time... although we could probably get a real one."

"I'd like to use a real one this time. It'd be rather better practice."

"They have some in the shed where they keep the uniforms... that's where I got the Bludger."

"Right!" Teatime looked about for the shed, located it, and flew towards it, trailing a Bludger. A few moments later he returned, grinning, a Snitch firmly gripped in his hand. "Hi!"

"You planning on chasing it while dodging the Bludger, or did you want me to try keeping it away like I would in a real game?"

"Either would be good practice. Which would you like to do?"

"I should probably be practicing what I'll be doing during games." Nny rolled his eyes, then dove toward the Bludger, bat raised, and hit it with a wide upward swing.

"Which part would that be, hitting it at people or away from people?" Teatime rolled his good eye, released the Snitch into the air, and flew some distance away to allow for complications. One, two, three--and then he began to pursue it.

"I think I'm techinically supposed to keep it away from my team-mates. Aiming it towards the other team is more of an unofficial perk."

"And you could practice as if we were on the same side, couldn't you?"

"With only up practicing it makes more sense. And you'll have people hitting Bludgers away from you in games anyway."

"I suppose so. Just suggesting." He looked around, eye nearly as wide as his smile, looking.
Ah.
Teatime swung his broom to one side and flew after the Snitch, holding on to the broom tightly, laughing.

Grinning, Nny circled around him in the air, eyes fixed on the Bludger.

The Snitch was fast, but Teatime could be faster (if this broom would maneuver. Ugh! It's incredibly cumbersome), and he was close on its tail by now and increasing speed. I expect a distraction any time now, of course.

Interesting.

The Bludger really did seem to swing more readily towards Teatime, as if it knew that Nny was the one focusing on it.

Or maybe it liked a challenge as well, and Teatime's Snitch-chasing acrobatics were moe exciting than Nny's defensive patterns.

But whatever else the Bludger was, it wasn't very good at evading his blows. Although sometimes the directions it went off in weren't what he expected...

A quick dodge to the side, to avoid the Bludger and keep from getting smashed into; a small dive, up again, accelerate....

Teatime was now flying back, still trying not to get hit by the Bludger, Snitch firmly gripped in his hand.
