Flying was becoming a familiar, comforting thing.

Actually trying to practice, though... that was less comfortable. But there was definitely something satisfying, Nny reflected, about hitting bludgers through the air, looping around as they swung back towards them, and smacking them away again.

"It just... you make it sound like you're keeping exact track. Like a business thing."

"I suppose I just don't want any imbalances. Something awful could happen if one existed."

"Oh..." He cocked his head, looked thoughtful, did a barrel roll to dodge a - what word is there for it but charging? - Bludger, and considered the thought again. "You might not," he said at last.

"Why wouldn't I? I'm not exactly easy-going."

"Oh, I don't know. You might not want to make me angry, or something." Well, of course I have a good idea as to why you might, but I should hardly want to lose what I've got so far with you. Not when I've spent so much time building it.

"If I was angry, I wouldn't care. You've seen me sort of pissed off, but you've never seen me... well. You saw me lose it at Jimmy. Do you think I was worried about making him angry?"

"Of course not. No-one was worried about that when he was being dissected. I don't think he had the extra brainspace available."

"And if I was that angry, do you think I'd care who I was upsetting?"

"You could." It makes so many incidents with other people make sense.

"When I'm that upset I'm not always even certain who I'm talking to sometimes."

"Oh. Well, then I shall have to be careful anyways."

"Well, if you made me angry like that I'd hardly want you to be my friend, right? Besides, it sounds like fun. Figuring out who pissed you off, I mean."

"How could it be fun?"

"What, figuring out from a bunch of anonymous comments who said them?" He blinked. "I thought you liked that sort of problem-solving."

"Oh, yes, fun for me. But how would it be fun for you?"

"I like watching you think," Nny said a little shyly. "And it does sound like fun. And... whoever it was, was nasty to you. Didn't we have sort of an agreement about things like that?"

"That if someone was being awful to one of us. The other'd kill them. Not that we can't do our own killing, but. I meant it."

"Oh, but you don't have to kill the person. Not when they're one of my housemates. And it might get you in all sorts of trouble."

"I'm sure we'll figure something out." He grinned broadly. "We could find a way to get them off-campus... I wouldn't want to steal a kill from you, of course, if it was someone you really wanted to kill."
