Roxas had decided, shortly after entering, that the library was Too Big. The second left turn he'd taken had gotten him lost, and the third right one had only made it worse. He had resigned himself to his fate as Roxas, lost-in-the-library-man, and decided his only way to get out would be to stand where he was and wait for someone to find him.

Or yell. But, it was a library. He didn't think anyone would appreciate him yelling in a place where silence was demanded.

His situation was abruptly sorted out when he collided with someone and sent books flying.

Great. Now he was Roxas, stereotypical-book-knocker-overer.

"I'm sorry," he said, smiling sheepishly, bending to pick up the books.

((ooc; Permission given by all Pirates- muns. As a note, I'll be playing Norrington from the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End so ye be warned. Here be spoilers. Also, PotC has a not-entirely-historically-accurate interpretation of the British Navy and its functions, as found on its wiki, and I shall be following that. Open rp in the hallway! Please do pop in.))

James Norrington awoke with a start (though he wasn't convinced "awoke" was the right word and disliked the imprecision of it) and schooled himself into stillness until he could decide where, exactly, he was. Apparently not the Caribbean. )

Francis Abernathy, a young, elegantly dressed man with a mop of bright red hair, came sauntering into the sorting room. He did not evince much surprise at having found himself there. The night before, he'd taken rather too mmany sleeping pills, and his mother had been suggesting that his infrequent panic attacks ought to be cured via herbal remedies from some alternative medicine guru she'd known. So why should he not be halucinating this drafty stone room with its table and application?

Peering at the application through his pince-nez, he reached for the quill. He considered answering in Greek, and then thought better of it. With a slight shrug and a sigh, he commenced answering the questions in a neat, precise hand.
Well, it isn't a Greek composition, but still. )

The Portus spell had always been one of Albus’s favorites. No need to risk splinching half the student body, when one could turn an everyday birdbath into a Portkey!

The assembled students, flanked here and there by faculty who’d volunteered to serve as chaperones, awaited as Albus declared the ground rules for today’s excursion. ... )

(( OOC NOTE: PLEASE READ. You are welcome to NPC store clerks; however, they cannot be the proprietors specified in canon, e.g., Madam Malkin, Florian Fortescue, Ollivander, because those are canon characters who are themselves appable and playable in HH. Indeed we have already had an Ollivander who is presently popcorn! And as for Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, obviously we have an active Fred and George Weasley who would not appreciate being godmodded ;)

Nor should this RP be taken as license to create OCs for continued use. Remember that OCs are not permitted in HH save as squibbait. You cannot backstory that the guy who works at Terrortours is your character’s old childhood BFF and lost his virginity to your character and he’s going to give you a free trip to Romania, etc etc; and you cannot use the pet store as an excuse to create sentient animal OCs. The only pets that can be bought are nonspeaking animals -- pace the Harry/Hedwig shippers out there, the animals bought at Alley shops in canon are not telepathic speaking critters. And if they were, you'd have to app them.

Finally, if your character is just such a horndog that s/he can’t resist a random hookup behind some random Diagon Alley shop, and finds love among the dumpsters to be a turn-on, please splinter that thread off to a separate RP post so that you can post a content warning there.

When in doubt, err on the side of caution, or give a shout to Dumbledore-mun via e-mail or chat. Have fun! A map of Diagon Alley is here, in the HP Lexicon. Detailed descriptions of the shops are linked here. Threads for each of the major shops have been provided. ))

How long have I been gone? I'd guess it's at least two months. I have no idea when I'd be able to return and post with any frequency. It's not fair to this community for me to be tying up characters if I never have time to play them. I've really enjyed the time I've spent here. Special apologies go to Cox-mun for leaving him without his nemesis woman. To Lily, Sirius, Maturin, Ford, JD, Dawn, Daniel, Zoidberg, their muns, and everyone else who ever interacted with Abby Sciuto, Jordan Sullivan, Tweek, Amy Wong, and any other characters I may have inadvertantly forgot.

I am officially popcorning Abby, Jordan, Amy, and Tweek.

Keep having fun...

Richard,

I can't be your research assistant anymore. I'd have talked to you about it but there isn't ever really a good time and I think you'd only try to change my mind and it's just better this way. I suppose it isn't the best thing to be saying via owl. I really am sorry.

Tea sometime this week, with Francis, maybe?

(( Permission given by Pirates-muns! I'm taking Jack just after At World's End, like Norrington has been, so I'm warning ye now for some spoilers. Not much in the way of major ones in the post, but I'm not promising for the comments >>; Other than that... up, up and away! ))

Popcorn. Native American-based, of course. Inventors of snowshoes. )
