Open RP: Great Hall: It's Alive!

The circles under his eyes are more pronounced than usual today. L slips into the Great Hall, to get himself a pot of tea. Once it arrives, he sits and pauses, to wait for it to steep. It needs to be stronger than this.

He's been pushing himself on a case the past few days. It's resolved now, but it was the first real challenge he's had since moving here, so he may have dropped off the face of the earth a little. Time to emerge and make sure everyone is still alive and well.

As soon as the tea is finished steeping, that is.

"Koopa could sleep in the electronics room. I've warded the shit out of everything I've got, it probably wouldn't get destroyed."

He's grinning, delighted and a little disbelieving, because L's entertaining the notion and he's so stupidly in love right now. He leans in for another kiss.

"I'd keep a cot in my room- which could really just become an office. Since I'd occasionally... my hours are odd, occasionally it'd be too complicated."

But very occasionally.

"You could keep your bed in there, still. I mean... I know you'd disappear off the face of the planet every now and then."

Matt'll acquire a futon or something for the electronics room, for the times he's got a tricky job to do.

"You want to?"

Nodding, faintly.

"Yeah. I do."

There's no harm in trying, right? He's lived in the same apartment with Mello before, and that worked out fine. And if it didn't go as well as expected... well, neither of them was giving up their room.

"Good. I do want to. We can keep the fish in my room for now, I'll shrink the bed and turn it into a proper office. I really do need one."

It's been frustrating.

"We could buy you office-y shit."

Matt will be hitting up eBay tonight. He spends money way too quickly.

"Fax machines. Staplers. Whatever."

"I've got a fax slash printer."

Two in one.

"I could use a stapler and a filing cabinet." There are some things that can't be saved electronically, and he does better with photos when he can hold them. "And photo quality paper."

"Fancy." Matt grins, and begins rummaging for a cigarette.

"Is there... stuff we'd need? Not for the office?"

"I don't have many clothes, your dresser should fit both of ours."

L isn't worried about that.

"I don't know if you still want condoms, after..." Yes. "Hmm. Pens? Normal scented shampoo?"

"We probably should still have the condoms, at least. I mean, I got myself checked out and all that, you're not going to catch anything from me, but..."

One day they might feel incredibly safety-conscious, or something.

"I'll get a mini-fridge, too," he decides suddenly. "For cakes and whatever."

"I'd like that."

Obviously, L is always in favour of there being more cake.

"Maybe a cupboard to go on top of it with chips for you."

Matt's secretly kind of amused that talk has turned to food already. Even if he's the one who brought it up.

"It'll be awesome," he says. "The whole thing's gonna be awesome."

L has priorities! They're legitimate.

"I like the idea. What made you suggest it?"

"Wanting a bigger room. Wanting you to stay over more often." Matt shrugs. "I guess they just... came together nicely?"

L is glad it was come up with.

Matt takes anothe strawberry, this one to hold to L's lips.

"So we're... going to live together?"

"We are."

He takes the strawberry, delicately as he can, and chews contemplatively.

"Awesome."

Matt grins, and takes another strawberry for L. He must be exhausted.

"I might start re-arranging stuff after you've been asleep a while... I think I'll join you for a bit, though. My head's kinda sore."

"Speaking of which, can we go upstairs now?"

L leans in, and kisses the corner of Matt's mouth. Chastely. He is tired.

"Sure."

Matt picks up the bowl of strawberries and the shortbread, and winces a little as he stands.

"How long d'you think you'll be out for?" he asks, ignoring it.

"Until tomorrow morning, at least. Why are you wincing?"

Concerned boyfriend alarm has been triggered.

"Uh." It's actually a little embarrassing, now. "Do you know who Mikami Teru is? Or Teru Mikami, whatever - he's Japanese."

"No, I've never heard the name."

It's been left out in 'the story of what happens.' He knows the role, not the person.

"He's sort of... one of Kira's men. In an obsessive angry psycho sort of way. Did Kira's killing for him, all that sort of thing." Matt shrugs. "Anyway. He turned up here this morning."
