Open RP: Great Hall: It's Alive!

The circles under his eyes are more pronounced than usual today. L slips into the Great Hall, to get himself a pot of tea. Once it arrives, he sits and pauses, to wait for it to steep. It needs to be stronger than this.

He's been pushing himself on a case the past few days. It's resolved now, but it was the first real challenge he's had since moving here, so he may have dropped off the face of the earth a little. Time to emerge and make sure everyone is still alive and well.

As soon as the tea is finished steeping, that is.

"I'd like that. And... I dunno, you're probably not on the verge of collapse or anything, but I bet you pass out almost as soon as we get to bed. I'll time you."

"You're probably right."

And not just because L falls asleep fast.

"I totally am." Matt steals a strawberry. "You should listen to your awesome, completely right boyfriend. Besides, I like falling asleep with you."

"Eat more of those," L urges, subtly. Yes. Ninja feeding plan.

"And that's not the difficult part. I just don't want you to wake up and die of boredom."

He smiles at that, taking another strawberry. "Aw. You do love me."

He's in a sort of silly mood, apparently.

"It's not a problem. If we're in my room, I can always just grab my DS or something. And, uh. My bed's a bit bigger now. So we won't be as squashed."

Although the rest of Matt's room is a little squashed. It seemed unfair to get himself a bigger bed without getting Koopa a bigger basket.

"Do you want to move more things into my room?"

Which is now beginning to explode with computer monitors and books.

"Nah." He's seen the additions to L's room, of course. "I'll just... I dunno, maybe look for a bigger room or something. Hopefully on the same corridor."

"I like having you right next door. Maybe we could knock out a wall."

It might be a plan.

"You mean, like - a door joining the two rooms right together? Or...?"

"That would probably be more practical. There's no one on that side of you, is there? And that wall might be weightbearing."

Hmm.

"If we put a door into it, you could make it an electronics room. I could put my books in it too, we could both have more space."

"You could move in with me."

... wait. That isn't what he'd planned to say. But since he has said it,

"I mean - if I have two rooms. And bought a huge bed. And you could keep your own room for working and shit, or just chilling out, but kind of... mostly live with me? If you wanted. Or... whatever."

L leans over, and kisses him, not shyly or particularly softly. This isn't a tender or shy kiss, it's an exuberant 'you're ridiculous and wonderful' kiss.

"It depends on whether Koopa jumps up on the bed or not. I love you, I don't know if I love your dog."

"Koopa could sleep in the electronics room. I've warded the shit out of everything I've got, it probably wouldn't get destroyed."

He's grinning, delighted and a little disbelieving, because L's entertaining the notion and he's so stupidly in love right now. He leans in for another kiss.

"I'd keep a cot in my room- which could really just become an office. Since I'd occasionally... my hours are odd, occasionally it'd be too complicated."

But very occasionally.

"You could keep your bed in there, still. I mean... I know you'd disappear off the face of the planet every now and then."

Matt'll acquire a futon or something for the electronics room, for the times he's got a tricky job to do.

"You want to?"

Nodding, faintly.

"Yeah. I do."

There's no harm in trying, right? He's lived in the same apartment with Mello before, and that worked out fine. And if it didn't go as well as expected... well, neither of them was giving up their room.

"Good. I do want to. We can keep the fish in my room for now, I'll shrink the bed and turn it into a proper office. I really do need one."

It's been frustrating.

"We could buy you office-y shit."

Matt will be hitting up eBay tonight. He spends money way too quickly.

"Fax machines. Staplers. Whatever."

"I've got a fax slash printer."

Two in one.

"I could use a stapler and a filing cabinet." There are some things that can't be saved electronically, and he does better with photos when he can hold them. "And photo quality paper."

"Fancy." Matt grins, and begins rummaging for a cigarette.

"Is there... stuff we'd need? Not for the office?"

"I don't have many clothes, your dresser should fit both of ours."

L isn't worried about that.

"I don't know if you still want condoms, after..." Yes. "Hmm. Pens? Normal scented shampoo?"

"We probably should still have the condoms, at least. I mean, I got myself checked out and all that, you're not going to catch anything from me, but..."

One day they might feel incredibly safety-conscious, or something.

"I'll get a mini-fridge, too," he decides suddenly. "For cakes and whatever."

"I'd like that."

Obviously, L is always in favour of there being more cake.

"Maybe a cupboard to go on top of it with chips for you."

Matt's secretly kind of amused that talk has turned to food already. Even if he's the one who brought it up.

"It'll be awesome," he says. "The whole thing's gonna be awesome."
