Since they were going to the pet store for fish, A decided to leave the kittens behind. He was walking a little slowly, but not limping anymore, and he smiled when he saw Matt.

"I'm here," he said softly, in case Matt hadn't noticed.

"Hey, A - shit, I forgot about your leg. You okay to head into..." He'd been planning to go back to the store they'd gotten Schrodinger from, but on second thought bringing A into a big city like Glasgow might not be a great idea.

"Where did you guys get Einstein from?"

"It was a little store, down the road from the candy shop." A thinks he can recall the destination L called out to the Floo, and says so. "There was a very large snake there."

"That sounds cool, then. You'll need to lead the way, though - is that okay? It's not a place I know."

Then he pulls out a small stone pendant, decorated with a red design made up of short lines: several runes superimposed over one another.

"Here. Wear it round your neck, under your clothes - I'm not sure how well it'll work, but it's something."

"Thank you," A says slowly, accepting the pendant. "I can, I think I can lead us there. Do you have any of that powder? I don't."

"Yeah." He pats his pocket. "There's a fireplace here; we might as well..."

A told him the name of the village, and held out his hand to accept a dose of Floo powder. "It lets out into a little pub. The candy store is next to it, and we'll be able to see the pet store from there."

"Awesome. We won't need to walk far with all the... fish-equipment."

Which is something to think about. Hopefully A can carry the smaller things while Matt takes the tank? He has no idea what exactly they'll need.

"See you there, then," he calls, flinging the powder into the fireplace and stepping in, calling the name of the village.

A follows, still a little uncertain of that method of travel. The pub is dusty and almost empty, and he leads the way out onto the street.

"There's the candy store. Did you want to get anything for L there, or just the fish?"

"... it might be nice, actually. Maybe something for Mello, too."

Since they hadn't gotten him anything in London. He heads for it.

"I don't really eat candy much," Matt says, conversationally. "You like the Turkish Delight, though, right?"

"I do," A says with a little smile. "It's chewy and it tastes good."

He pulls open the shop's door, holding it for Matt. "L got chocolate for Mello here."

"Thanks," Matt says, stepping into the shop. The scent of chocolate and sugary sweetness hits him as soon as he crosses the threshold, and he blinks.

"... wow. This is - a lot of candy."

"They have chocolate with flowers on it," A tells him. "And tiny peaches made out of marzipan."

"D'you think he'd like those?" Matt asks, a little helplessly. He'd thought he'd be able to pick something out with ease, but hadn't counted on the sheer variety.

"Or a box with a bit of everything?" There are some pretty hefty-looking gift boxes in one corner. Matt goes to examine them.

"There should be something strawberry-flavored," A points out. I don't think he got any chocolate for himself, though. Just for Mello, and the kind with flowers for me."

"Good idea. Strawberry things..."

And, in fact, there's an entire range of boxes of fruit-flavoured candies, including a box of strawberry-shaped marshmallows, hard candies, chocolates and jellies.

"Like these?"

Mello's chocolate will be easy. He's known him since they were six; getting Mello-approved chocolate is almost automatic by now.

"I think he'll like those." A nods. "Lots of strawberry."

He's glad he suggested it. L will like being given candy by Matt.

"I'm not very good at this," Matt admits to A. He picks up the box, locates Mello-chocolate, and then - on the way to the till - picks up a bag of cotton candy.

L likes sugar, after all, and that's all cotton candy is.

"Anything you'd like? More Turkish Delight or anything?"

It's obvious from his expression that A likes the idea of having more Turkish Delight, but he's not about to ask for any.

"Only a little?"

Tucking the box of candy for L under one arm, Matt head over to the shelf with the Turkish Delight and grabs a fairly large box of it.

"Okay... this is us, right?"

A nods with a blush. "And then we get fish for L."
