Though it may not look it just by glancing at the messy-haired figure crouching in one of the chairs of the library with his thumb pressed to the corner of his mouth, L is sulking. Only rarely in his life has he ever been confronted with something that didn't go his way simply because he wanted it to. He was L. He commanded the world's police forces and, at times, could command their militarizes, if the situation warranted such. The world was his; he could take the cases he wanted, leave the ones he didn't. He hated to lose so he never lost. He would even go so far to admit that, in this regard, he was childish. There are times, given the right person asking, he could admit to being stubborn.

But, he was never wrong.

Until now.

Before, it had only been a thought experiment. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe his thinking was off target, but not a full admission that he was absolutely wrong.

He hated it. Absolutely and utterly hated it.

And, now, he was at an impasse. The completely infallible detective who wore the top three names in the world could not be wrong. There were laws against it, laws of statistics and averages. And, yet, here he was, wrong, so very wrong.

His mind is caught in a circle of misery and disbelief and the book before him, his cover, has not been touched in half an hour, though his eyes remain steadily on the page. Nothing is moving on the page, he's not even aware of looking at it. His mind, for all intents and purposes, has stalled out on the problem of him being wrong. It was a painful and difficult concept to accept and he was still looking for ways, no matter how improbable, that he might, in some way, be right.

And he was failing. Which sat just as badly.

((OOC: yeah...sorry for the emo...L does wrong very badly...))

Mello had spoken to Yukimura about wanting the samurai to train the boy, citing the need for alternating the type of attacks and counterattacks, not becoming so adapted to a single person that he could not fight someone who did not follow the same pattern. Yukimura had agreed this was a good idea, especially when Mello added that A was skittish of touch and they had not been able to work on hand to hand combat.

After some deliberation, Yukimura decided that perhaps it would be wise for A to learn weapon skills. A kodachi struck him as the most appropriate weapon for the boy. It was long enough to be effective, but short enough that any damage could be readily contained.

Yukimura stopped by Kusuriyuri's office to pick up some first aid items, should they be needed, and to tell the medicine peddler of his plans, since he knew A well enough to know he nearly worshiped the peddler.

After preparing, Yukimura sent A the following note:

A-kun,

Is all well with you and your Shadow girl? And, are you currently engaged in something?

Hermione had spent the morning closeted in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. It had accumulated quite a collection of odds and ends from the many, many people who had had this job in the past. Eventually, though, Hermione had cleared off the desk, and now she sat, making notes on a piece of parchment.

It occurred to her that she ought to hold office hours, so that she would have a better idea of what it would be useful to teach her future students.

thus having decided her course of action, she made up a few fliers announcing the fact and went around the school, tacking them up herself. She had a house elf of her own, but Hermione's house elf had decided that the best way it could be of service was to sneak in, ninja-like, and do certain small, necessary tasks.

The elf had done so now, because when Hermione returned to her office, she found a full pot of tea and a large plate of warm chocolate brownies, fresh from the oven, waiting on her desk.

She pulled over her parchment, glancing from it to the open door, waiting to see if anyone would show up.

CicadaCries posts:

It has come to my attention that it may be beneficial to have a list of potentially dangerous students at Hogwarts. No good would come of someone being unaware of a threat to themselves and becoming a victim nor for one to be fearful of trusting others. I would appreciate that those of whom reply are truthful and post the following information about the one others should be cautious around.

Who:
A quick description of what they look like:
Why or how are they are a threat:
What to do if you can't avoid them, or run into them by accident:
Anything else important to know:

EDIT: Understand that this list is not necessarily accurate since the information posted here could easily be fabricated. If someone is given uncalled for trouble by false accusations please contact Rika Furude and I shall do what I can to dispel unsavory rumors caused by this post.
