Closed rp; The Doctor & Jack

Jack had gone for a wander to find the Doctor to get that seasonal drink and he hand eventually ended up in the great hall sat at a table picking at a bunch of grapes occasionally that were sat in a dish before him, looking happy and trying to make a list as he sat but getting distracted by people watching which was a perfectly reasonable distraction for him. This is why he really needed Ianto or someone telling him to focus. It wasn't long before his list of things to do had become a page of doodles, none of them charmed (thankfully).

"Jack!" That would be the Doctor, sliding into a seat beside him and looking a mix of delighted and confused. "Fancy running into you. What was all that excitment about?"

Jack turned to the Doctor. "Well, it's about me and JD."He smiled. "Oh thanks again for the present."

He waved it aside. "It was nothing. And oh, about JD? What about the both of you, then?"

Jack stopped doodling and looked at the Doctor. "He said yes." Surely he's smart enough to work it all out. Jack thought as he kept his gaze on the Doctor.

"...To what, exactly?"

"How are you liking the slow life?"

He blinked. "To what, Jack?"

He was just going to say what he thought. "What is generally, well with humans, a good thing to hear yes to? I thought you were meant to clever."

"Not like I ever know with you Humans. Could've said yes to going on some trip with you again or something."

"That makes sense. " Jack had that happy look. "We're kinda makeing things more offical."

"More official as in--" His eyes widened--holy hell, he can't be serious! "You've gotten engaged?"

"Pretty much." Jack was amused as he watched the Doctors reaction.

"You? You of all people! ...Wow, never thought I'd see the day you let yourself get tied down."

"Not tied down."Jack gave him a look. "And thanks, really."

"Getting engaged is getting married is getting tied down."

Jack stabbed sharply at the page again and started doodling. "Why did I even think for one minute you'd be happy for me."

"Because you're full of pride and happier than you've probably ever been and think everyone else should be, too. Don't get me wrong, 's not a bad thing, I'm just saying I'm surprised is all."

"Does that mean you'll be there?" He didn't look so annoyed.

"At the wedding?" Oh boy, two weddings with friends/ex-companions. There must've been something in the air lately. "Sure! Got no reason not to go!"

"Good." Jack looked happy again. "Would have found someway of getting you there anyway. Wouldn't be the same without you."

"I'd imagine not. You know, Gallifreyan weddings were a lot more somber, I think. And then they had those ridiculous outfits. Never liked much going to those. Found them boring. Human weddings end up being loads more fun with the reception and sometimes all those people getting married in the strangest places. Got a sense of adventure like that!"

"Think I should wear a kilt?"Jack wanted to ask more about Gallifrey but decided it was probably wisest not to and the mun would hit him if he did.

"A kilt?" He shrugged. "I guess it doesn't really matter, does it? Long as you get yourself all done up nice and handsome."

"Yeah, hey! Are you saying I don't normally? And of course it matters. You're gonna have to get a suit you know."

He rolled his eyes. "I know, I know! I've been...meaning to get one--aw, come on, why can't I just wear this to a wedding? Not like I'm the one getting married!"
