Closed rp; The Doctor & Jack

Jack had gone for a wander to find the Doctor to get that seasonal drink and he hand eventually ended up in the great hall sat at a table picking at a bunch of grapes occasionally that were sat in a dish before him, looking happy and trying to make a list as he sat but getting distracted by people watching which was a perfectly reasonable distraction for him. This is why he really needed Ianto or someone telling him to focus. It wasn't long before his list of things to do had become a page of doodles, none of them charmed (thankfully).

"Let's us remember who we were and how we used to be!" Jack sighed. "Am I doing the right thing?"

"I can drink to that!" Which he did. "Oi, and don't ask me that sort of thing, Jack. If you're having second thoughts, talk to JD."

"I should. I will. Think he'd change his mind?"Jack looked up at the Doctor.

"As much as he clings to you? Heh. No. I could see the both of you getting cold feet and being nervous as hell, but I don't think he'd change his mind."

"You think I'm mad doing this?"

"I think it's surprising, certainly, but if it's what you want, then no, I don't think it's mad."

"Would you tell me not to do it?"

"Why would I ever have any say in what you do with your life?"

"No, I wouldn't tell you not to do it."

Jack looked like he might just cry right there, he drank the rest of the bottle before he did.

Insert very awkward pause. What the hell had he said now? He pulled up a seat next to Jack, drink forgotten, and wrapped an arm around him. "If you don't want to go through with it, you need to tell him that. Nobody has the right to tell you to do it or not to do it, you know."

"I do, that's the point." Jack took the arm round him as an invite to cling to the Doctor. "I'm happy."

Bloody Humans and their bloody emotions! "Good! You ought to be, can't have an unhappy groom."

Jack sniffed. "It would be bad." He then looked up to the Doctor. "Wanna be my best man?"

"Can't see who else you would want." That'd be him making with the ego and also his way of saying 'yes'.

"Would that be yes or just that big head of yours talking?" Jack clung to him a little bit tighter knowing really it was a yes. "Just watch it with the speech."

"What speech, I'm not going to have to make a speech am I?"

"Yes! You are!" Jack had honestly no idea if he would or not it was just funny to make him think he would be.

"I am not making a speech. I'll be your best man, but I won't go sound like some daft fool blundering about with his words."

"Since when do you do that? You talk a lot, still never a problem for you. And you know probably best if you didn't. Let's not bring up the whole conman thing."

"I can improv with the best of 'em, but this is your wedding we're talking about!" He paused. "What the hell would I talk about anyway? 'Here's one of my best mates, and this here's a good kid I sort of know, and they're about to get married. Cheers!' I don't think that'd go over well."

"Come on, you can think of something better than that."

"Well what am I supposed to say? Don't really do domestic, remember? Not like I've been to many Human weddings ever!"

"Maybe you shouldn't speak after all." Jack laughed quietly, slipping down slightly as he sat, not drunk exactly.
