He stared at the Pensieve, trying to control his breathing and shaking. What he saw was this:
Cut for movie version of events )

So. That's how it was.

Soichiro sighed. If that Light had tried to kill that him...well, it didn't look good for his Light, now did it?

The other him had no memory of ever hearing about or seeing Near or Mello, so they probably were alive in the other's world, but without knowing them, he had no way to be sure.

One thing that did reassure him was a sane, if mourning Sayu. That gave him a bit of hope for his Sayu, even if that one didn't get kidnapped by Mello.

He fingered the cat treats he had picked up for A's cats, as he pulled out parchment and pen:

Owl to L, warded )

I know Near's not in our room. I was just in there with Matt, lending him a gun. I need to talk to him. The matter has become a little more than urgent.

Or I'm panicking needlessly.

But, I've never panicked needlessly before in my life. Nor, have I overreacted in a very long time. As I pointed out to Matt, blowing up a building with me inside is not overreacting when the alternative is dying and I know I can get out of a burning building.

So, the situation's bad. And, I need to make sure Near's aware.

He's not in the Great Hall. So, he must be in the second home of the "Alphabet Gang," as the house elves have started calling us.

So, I head to the library.

And, I am not panicking.

((OOC: This is Briggs-mun taking over Misa!))

Misa was sitting on a large charge next to the fire in Hufflepuff's commons room. Her stockinged feet hung lazily off the edge of the chair, and her legs were curled up under her. Things had been pretty quiet since she ended up here, and part of her really missed her former life of always being in the spotlight. As she thought back on events in her life, she remembered the news broadcast when Light was finally revealed as Kira. It had made her happy to know her love Light had killed those who had hurt her parents, but that couldn't stop the horrible feeling of knowing he was gone.

Trying to distract herself by thinking of the good times, Misa pulled out her old planner and began paging through it. Filmings, dinner dates with company representatives, live appearances. She sighed, knowing that this wasn't her life anymore. Then she turned a page, and a small piece of paper fluttered down onto her wrist.

Misa's eyes suddenly grew wide as memories that had previously been erased came flooding into her head. Memories of her as the second Kira, the shuffling of the notebooks, one of them getting buried, Rem. It was almost too much of an assault for her mind to handle, and she began hyperventilating. She looked down at the small piece of paper. It must have somehow ended up in her purse on accident when she ripped pages out of the note; it was too small to be of any use.

She put it back carefully in her planner, and stared at the wall, numb.

Pleased to learn that a new Astronomy professor had been appointed, Dumbledore dashed off a quick invitation to Bean, identical to the invitations he had sent the other members of the Hogwarts faculty. Then he toddled off to the staff lounge in his best high-heeled boots. Time to ready the room for his tea party.

The house elves had assembled a staggering array of teabags, teapots, varieties of tea, tea-related accessories, sweeteners natural and artificial, tea sandwiches with crusts off, pastries, biscuits, et cetera, hopefully not ad nauseam. Dumbledore bustled about happily, humming to himself like the bumblebee who shared his name, charming napkins into origami shapes. As a final touch, he zapped a dish of clotted cream with a simple food-coloring spell to rainbow its contents.

The final effect he deemed quite satisfactorily cheery.

He knew better than to hope the group he had invited would mesh well. No faculty ever did, unless confronted with some shared enemy, and those were not forthcoming: Voldemort was popcorn, the Headmistress and Sorting Hat were best left alone, and Dumbledore did not think it kind to gang up on poor Kojiro. Nonetheless, he preferred heterogeneity, even with its attendant discord. In diversity lay strength!

To make sure they mingled well, he turned himself invisible (something he could do without an Invisibility Cloak, because he was just special like that). Now they would have to talk among themselves, rather than waiting for the former Headmaster to moderate their discussion or play the host. At the proper moment he could always duck out of the room and reappear properly with apologies for his lateness...

You know what makes for good, cozy mornings, and early afternoons, even?

Cartoons.

Neither L nor A had much of a cartoon-y childhood, but L has been talking to people about them recently.  He has also been spending a lot of time with A recently, and has decided that Bugs Bunny is the way to accomplish this 'cozy morning' feeling.  Bugs Bunny is attempting to woo his lady-bunny away from another hare.  It's all very colourful and dramatic.  Exploding carrots are featured heavily.
