The house elves had been busy most of the afternoon posting fliers, or simply leaving them in stacks on the tables in the Great Hall.

Karaoke Night at the Little Green Apple!
Sing a song and get a reading! Are you on the right path? Come find out!
Drink specials courtesy of La Fee Verite, music and readings courtesy of Lorne

No Barry Manilow, please.

It had been a long time since Lorne had done more than a few select readings for people, and when he was honest with himself, he missed it. He missed those nights in Caritas when the music was electric, the psychic energy crackling and the drinks.. well the drinks were always stellar. He always paid for the best bartenders in L.A. that dealt with demonic clientele.

After clearing it personally with the owner and obtaining her blessing as well as a promise to deliver some impressive drink specials, Lorne geared up for a good night of music, song and maybe a helpful reading or three. That night, he sat on the stool beside the karaoke machine, flipping through the song list and humming to himself, the first of many Seabreezes in hand.

((Just like Lorne’s sorting – if you’d like a reading to pertain to something you have planned for your character in either game or canon, please message me. Otherwise I’ll make it up as I go!))

" Horses will so drink beer." she said as a matter of factly. " Seen a few horses assses drinkin em too.' she said with a nod. She gave a smile and a hand clap as Bobby scowled, even if he didn't know her.

" So, ya are singing.' she said as Sam got up to sing. Hell yeah Journey.

Castiel was flipping through the song catalogue as Sam performed, rapidly skimming song lyrics with a slight frown. Some of them made little sense to him and many others didn't strike him as particularly interesting or appropriate.

He finally stopped and re-read a particular page three or four times, head tilted speculatively, then smiled slightly. As Sam finished singing, he got up and walked over to rest a hand on top of the karaoke machine, his eyes momentarily losing their focus.

Satisfied, he got Lorne's attention long enough to point out the song he wanted, then got up on stage to the soft opening piano notes of Kenny Rogers' Lady and delivered a quiet but flawless rendition, his eyes fixed intently on Death's face throughout.

When Sam got up to sing Dean was all ready to start cracking, then when his brother started singing the hunter went immediately to a horrified look, so much that even Sookie's comment went unnoticed. Even before Sam was done Dean was talking "Seriously? Journey, freakin' Journey." And he needed more booze for this the hunter thought, no way he could sit through.

Ah, then Sam was done and as Dean got is hands on a bottle of whiskey and took a long drink he nearly spit it out when he saw who was going up next, Cas? The look Dean shot the angel said it all, was he really going to do this? Then the song started and at first Dean's face cracked in to a grin, god he nearly burst out laughing. What the hell was wrong with these two? Dean though caught the look on Cas' face and where his gaze was at and so the hunter to his credit held his silence beyond the snort and grin.

It took downing about half that bottle of whiskey to pull this off as Castiel stepped down Dean grabbed the book and flung it open "Jesus, you two are worse than chicks. And ain't got no tits to make it worth it." He smirked as he found the first song he knew the words too. Eye of the Tiger, his look said it all as he stood up and wobbled just slightly.

Well, that was the only song on that page he knew so Dean went for it. His words might have gotten a little slurred at points, his pitch wasn't exactly on point. But what he lacked in talent the man made up for in showmanship as he gestured and 'performed' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsyMtYoSkC0) through out the entire song.

The performance on stage was enough to jerk Sam out of a profoundly intense conversation with Lorne at the side table. It took him a few beats to recognize the song, and yet another moment to realize that it was Cas up there. He then shot a worried look to his brother, silently willing Dean to keep his trap shut. Just this one time.

“Sam? This is kinda one of those ‘captial D’ destiny kind of moments,” Lorne said, nudging his attention back to their discussion.

“Sorry.” Sam tore his attention away from his family and back to the table. To say he was surprised at what Lorne was relating would be a drastic understatement. He was going to play a role in the fundamental reshaping of an entire realm?

Death was a little surprised to see Castiel take the stage and applauded enthusiastically when he did so. When the song began and his eyes found hers, her awareness rapidly narrowed down to just him; to his voice and to the words that he sang. Dean could have been laughing hysterically throughout the song (or set a grenade off at the table, for that matter) and she wouldn’t have noticed. She stood to meet Cas when he walked back to the table and wrapped her arms around him, her approval at his selection apparent in her eyes. “That was beautiful,” she murmured; leaning in for a brief, if intense, kiss. "Thank you."

Sam made it back to the table with the others in more than enough time to see his brother’s lively rendition of Eye of the Tiger. He laughed and joined the crowd in their encouraging applause. It seemed the louder people clapped, the more into it Dean got and the end result was hilarious.

Sookie applauded when the time was right, giving a look to Dean as he laughed and poked at Cas and Sam. Yeah, Dean for sure was the handful out of this group she was thinking.

The others were singing and it looked kind of fun. Especially with as enthusiastic as Dean was about his, she shifted a bit in contemplation. What the hell, most off the people here were drunk and wouldn't remember this any way. She picked up the book and flipped through the song choices. She spotted one and smiled a bit walking over and pointing to the original version of Can't take my eyes off of you in the style of Frankie Valli and the four seasons. An old but good one.

Dean could laugh all he wanted (Cas suspected the man would have anyway, regardless of what song he had chosen.) He was fairly confident he'd gotten the tune right, and Death's reaction made it entirely worth any incidental embarrassment.

Dean's own antics a moment later were not only far more absurd, they made him worry just a little for his friend's state of mind. Everyone else merely seemed to find the routine funny, though, so he held his peace and applauded with them.

He greeted Sam's return with a slight smile, wondering what the young hunter had been speaking so intently with Lorne about, but choosing not to pry.

Dean couldn't help but watch his brother as he talked to the demon. It weighed on his mind, even if none of that showed in his performance. Cas was right in thinking that Dean probably would have laughed either way, but it wasn't in mean spirit. He was honestly happy for Cas and for Sam, they both looked happy with Sookie and Death, they both deserved happy.

All of this went through his head as the flashed the audience a grin and took a bow. When he stepped off the stage the hunter did not go immediately to the demon, instead he stopped by the table and drained the last of his beer "Now that's how you do it." He grinned at Sam and Cas and then Dean lied right through his teeth.

"I need a refill, be back." He headed away from the group, off to seek 'alcohol', honestly, Dean was anxious and nervous to hear what Lorne had to say to him. He saw Sookie headed up to the stage and the hunter flashed the woman a grin and a thumbs up, acting as if nothing was bothering him at all.

Sam smiled as Sookie passed him in taking the stage. He hadn’t missed Cas’s smile either, or that curious look of his. What Lorne had told him was.. big. Big on a scale he wasn’t accustomed to dealing with or even thinking about. He might talk to Cas about it later, getting the angel’s perspective on it might be a good idea before he committed to anything. Rather than let the reading trouble him and wreck the night, he resolutely pushed those thoughts aside and tried to concentrate on enjoying himself.

Ordering another beer, Bobby sat back with a fairly contented smile on his face. Death and Cas were happy, murmuring quietly to one another while Sam was all eyes for the pretty blonde on stage. Even Dean seemed to be relaxing, at least marginally. All in all, it was a pretty good evening, and the singing just seemed to tie it all together. His eyes flicked to the stage and he applauded as Sookie concluded her song. “No school like the old school,” he said, saluting her with his beer bottle.

Everything seemed to be right. No one was fighting, there was no worry of someone flipping out and trying to bash someone elses head in. Or someone trying to kill someone else. She looked to Sam, then to everyone else at the table in their various states. This was nice.

She gave a smile to Bobby, " Damn right!" she said with a wink before sliding over, looking to Sam almost as if she was about to say something meaningful but hesitating. " I'll be back." she said slipping over to the area where Lorne was doing the readings.

Oh, Somebody save him. Crowley had been standing at the back of the room, shaking his head through the hunters' performances. Dean's effort was amusing enough, but by the time the blonde had finished her number, the demon was desperately wishing for a good stiff shot of insulin.

He made his way up to the front before somebody else could grab the microphone and start in on the Neil Diamond or the sodding Carpenters, or god help them all, Elvis.

"Right, you lot. Let's try something that won't put us all into diabetic comas from which we'll never emerge, shall we?" he asked the audience, and launched into a slightly cocky, but engaging rendition of Sinatra's My Way. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K86QYtDuUpQ)

After he had left Lorne Dean had nearly thought about leaving. But he knew his reaction was going to be noticed by at least Sam and that meant if he stormed out his brother was going to worry even more.

So instead he shook it off, as best as he could and sauntered over to the table. He'd meant his departing words to the demon. Destiny and the rest of it could get bent. Family was family and he was not going to leave Sam to face any thing alone.

This reshaping an entire plane business was some thing he'd wait and talk to his brother about later. No matter what it was he'd be there at Sam's side.

Nothing was going to change his mind and Dean slipped in to a seat with a sip of his beer just in time to hear Crowley finishing off his performance, the hunter cracked a grin and let out a whistle "What do you know, he actually might have some talent." the hunter cracked with a cocky tone.

Sam chuckled and looked up from sharing a quiet moment with Sookie as Dean returned to the table. A slight frown ghosted across his face. He knew his brother too well, and the slight swagger was usually an effective cover. Not for Sam. He’d talk to him later and find out what Lorne had said. Maybe it was a night for important revelations. He turned his attention back to Crowley and set his beer back down, remembering Cas’s advice.

“You okay?” he murmured to Dean.

Death watched the exchanges closely, marking the ones that seemed more important as compared to the casual sort of conversations. The music was good, and she was watching the psychic energy flow around the crowds with interest. Her hand fit easily in Castiel’s while she looked around before finally deciding to flip through the song catalog. If everyone else could do it, so could she.

She took the stage and launched into an energetic version of “Just Like Heaven” by the Cure. The last few lines of the song were abruptly cut off when Lorne took the stage and ushered her off, looking a little ashen.

Any close observers would notice the conversation between the demon and the ancient power was intense and punctuated with very animated gestures. Death waved her hand back towards the table where Castiel and his friends sat before turning back to Lorne, her expression determined. Then Lorne spoke in a quiet voice and Death flinched, suddenly going still. A moment later, she was gone.

With a somber expression, Lorne walked back to the stage. There wouldn’t be any more songs tonight. Or for a few nights for that matter.

Castiel listened, unable to fault Crowley for his very fitting choice of songs. Death's he found a little bemusing; the style was a bit difficult to fathom, but she was clearly enjoying herself and that was good enough for him.

Right up until Lorne came up on stage and absconded with her before the song was even finished, that is. He sat up straighter and watched them argue, frowning slightly. At Death's abrupt disappearance, he rose, excused himself distractedly from the table, and went to speak to the Host.

"What did you say to her?" he asked the demon without preamble as he approached, fixing Lorne with a stony, penetrating gaze.

For all his powers of perception, Lorne was misreading him slightly this time. Castiel was prepared to be angry. But at the demon's words, his gaze dropped away, and he sighed quietly.

"I asked her not to do anything that would upset the natural order too severely," he said quietly, looking back up at Lorne with a rueful expression. "If that's what she was planning to do, then you were right to say something."

Then he frowned again, but in an entirely different fashion. He knew enough of such things to be aware that these affairs could play havoc with a psychic's state of well-being. "Are you all right?"

"I won't." Cas nodded. "You should rest. If you saw anything when I sang that I should be aware of, tell me later." Lorne had already read him once before, briefly, and right now he just wanted to go and make sure that Death was all right.
