The house elves had been busy most of the afternoon posting fliers, or simply leaving them in stacks on the tables in the Great Hall.
Karaoke Night at the Little Green Apple!
Sing a song and get a reading! Are you on the right path? Come find out!
Drink specials courtesy of La Fee Verite, music and readings courtesy of Lorne
No Barry Manilow, please.
It had been a long time since Lorne had done more than a few select readings for people, and when he was honest with himself, he missed it. He missed those nights in Caritas when the music was electric, the psychic energy crackling and the drinks.. well the drinks were always stellar. He always paid for the best bartenders in L.A. that dealt with demonic clientele.
After clearing it personally with the owner and obtaining her blessing as well as a promise to deliver some impressive drink specials, Lorne geared up for a good night of music, song and maybe a helpful reading or three. That night, he sat on the stool beside the karaoke machine, flipping through the song list and humming to himself, the first of many Seabreezes in hand.
((Just like Lorne’s sorting – if you’d like a reading to pertain to something you have planned for your character in either game or canon, please message me. Otherwise I’ll make it up as I go!))

Date: 2011-03-22 02:09 am (UTC)Great. Now Sookie might see him sing. Resolutely, Sam finished his beer and ordered another round of liquid courage. He wouldn't get hangover-worthy drunk, but he'd need to loosen up a little more before he even comtemplated taking the stage.

Date: 2011-03-20 09:36 pm (UTC)The sound of music brought her explorations to a halt, and she trotted in, striking a wide-eyed pose of surprise. "Why, hello! Is this a party? I haven't a thing to wear just yet, but I'm in such desperate need of a break from my work."

Date: 2011-03-20 10:14 pm (UTC)He got up from the stool and signaled for a refill on his drink. Given the number of Champions around, he had a feeling he was going to need it.
"Call me Lorne. What kind of work were you up to?"

Date: 2011-03-21 12:16 am (UTC)She settled herself in at a low table as she waited for the house elf to return. "So pleased to make your acquaintance! I'm Rarity, owner of Carousel Boutique in Ponyville. Though here, I've yet to make a name for myself. I've been working myself to the bone trying to make my new room a decent place to live." She sighed dramatically. "Have you seen the state of this place? There must not be a decent decorator in residence. I have orders to fulfill already, but how can I work when I'm surrounded by such dreariness?"
The house elf returned, setting her coupe of sparkling apple cider in front of her. "Thank you, darling." She sipped at it delicately and returned to her lament. "As I was saying, I'm an artist! I have standards! I'm not wrong, am I, Lorne dear?"

Date: 2011-03-26 08:29 pm (UTC)Dean's reading
Date: 2011-03-26 08:29 pm (UTC)He gave Dean a smile and nodded towards the small table he had set off to the side. While he was acting relaxed and happy, Lorne could see the tension pouring off him in waves. Tension, guilt, and too much worry for a man his age. “Relax, Dean. This isn’t going to hurt.”
Well, maybe a little. Lorne took a rather large swallow from his drink. “You’ve got a sense of responsibility a mile wide, Dean. A lot bigger than most people can handle and still manage to keep themselves sane. I wish I could tell you that when you eventually leave here that things are going to get easier. But they’re not. Not by a damn sight.” He nodded in Death’s direction, “She’ll be able to help, but not as much as she might want to in the end. You’ll get him back though.
“Your friend the angel has a pretty long road ahead of him. He’s going to need you out there, Dean. The Powers have a lot of work for him to do, for both of you really.”
This was the hard part. “I know you’ve spent your entire life watching out for your brother. But sooner or later, Dean.. you’re going to have to let Sam go.” And Lorne said this as gently as he could manage. The ties that bound the two brothers were so strong and so bright, it made him ache to think about what was coming for both of them. Even if Dean wouldn’t listen, he had to be warned. “Sam has a destiny of his own. And to reshape an entire plane, he’ll have to follow it. Alone.”
And now he braced himself for the angry reaction.
Re: Dean's reading
Date: 2011-03-27 01:20 am (UTC)There was an incline to his head, nearly the threaten of a tear when Lorne told him he'd get Sam back, that was what he needed to hear. The rest of the bull crap Dean could take it in stride, as long as at the end of the day he could keep Sam alive, safe and whole. He'd fight who ever , what ever he had to, to make sure this happened.
At the next part the hunter snorted "Figures, some one's always gonna want somethin'." That didn't matter, the squaring of his shoulders showed his determination, he was not going to let his friend, his family because that was what Cas was go it alone, he would fight by the angel's side till his last breath.
Then that next part was said and it was a slow change over Dean, at first he looked at Lorne, as if the demon had suddenly turned human or some thing, or lost his mind entirely. His hand that held the beer bottle squeezed it so tight that his knuckles turned white. "I knew it..." It was ground out.
"Just another piece of crap, tryin' to come between me and my brother. What's it you want from us huh?" Then it hit, the underlying rage that Dean tried not to have lash out.
All because he knew Lorne was not being manipulative, he knew it was true. But that didn't matter, the hunter rose so quickly that his chair went flying back and he leaned in across the table, gripping the front of the demon's shirt for a moment as he went nose to nose with him.
"Screw you and your destiny crap. Last time some one said that, know what I did? Did it my way, ain't no way in hell I'm leavin' Sammy, you got that. What ever you see, it don't matter, I'll make it different."
Dean dropped Lorne back in to his seat, thankfully he had only lifted the other an inch or two out of it before hand and grabbed his beer some of spilling on the table.
Re: Dean's reading
Date: 2011-03-27 03:05 am (UTC)He righted himself easily and caught his glass before it tipped over. "Don't shoot the messenger, kid. You think you can fight it, then good luck. Sometimes the Powers forget that they're screwing with lives."
Lorne took a long sip of his drink and waved for another, "Lord knows you and your brother have been through enough as it is," he murmured at the retreating hunter.

Date: 2011-03-26 08:58 pm (UTC)He was grateful for the break between Champion readings. This girl had already walked a pretty tough road, but at least for a time, things looked like they were going to smooth out for her.
"You've got a pretty even path out there for you, kiddo. I know it's not been an easy ride with the vampire set, and don't they make the rest of their kind look positively tame." He frowned a little, still worried for Angel. He hadn't seen him since the explosion that took out Wolfram and Hart.. Lorne shook himself. Back to what he was saying.
"That one over there?" he nodded in Sam's direction, "I know you're worried about telling him about your past, especially about a certain dark-haired Southern man. Stop worrying, kid. He's made his share of mistakes, and let me tell you that they've been some doozies. One of the biggest ones was in the relationship department. Huge, colossal, epic kind of mistakes."
Lorne patted her hand, "Don't be afraid to tell him. He's seen more than most humans have, you're not going to surprise him or drive him away."

Crowley's Reading
Date: 2011-03-27 07:33 pm (UTC)“You’ve got to appreciate the classics,” he said as Crowley took a seat. “And that’s quite the ambitious plan you’ve got in place for back home. It’s time for both planes to start swinging back into balance. Now that the big guy is firmly under wraps again, it should be easier for you to get started. Your big question is finding the right type to help make it happen. You can’t trust most of the demons, and those that might even consider playing ball, well, they’re going to be harder to herd than cats with ADD.”
Ah. Not the joking type. Lorne plowed ahead, “There’s someone here who can help you with that. As a matter of fact, that’s his destiny. If you can keep his half brother out of Hell and possibly convince him that it’s not going to be the same torture-for-grins kind of Pit, you’ll find someone who can take over a pretty big chunk of the business for you.”
Crowley's Reading
Date: 2011-03-27 08:18 pm (UTC)With Lucifer, Lilith, Alastair and Azazel all out of the way, as well as many of their strongest supporters, the way was clear for him to seize control in Hell. His ambitions for the place were of a decidedly different bent than Lucifer's had been, but the green one was right. Personally supervising the Crossroads division while reorganizing the place top to bottom would be too much to handle.
He'd been mulling over his choice of successor, and had just about come to a similar conclusion: he needed to bring in some outside talent if he was going to have any hope of succeeding.
"His destiny, you say?" He wasn't sure he believed in the concept, generally, but it was interesting to hear that Somebody Else was thinking along the same lines he was. "And do your otherworldy advisors have any pointers as to keeping those two out of the Box?"
As far as he could see, that would be the major sticking point. Turning Adam loose was hardly any sort of obstacle; as a matter of fact, it would've been more difficult to come up with a rationale for keeping him in Hell.

Date: 2011-03-27 09:41 pm (UTC)“So long as you keep him in the loop, Sam’s the one you’re looking for to take over down there.” While Lorne believed in destiny, it didn’t mean he had to like the idea. He had seen Champions set off on their destined path and wind up broken and battered before the end. Sometimes the Powers had a pretty lousy way of saying thank you.
