As Dean neared the bar he saw Bobby and Cas walking out together, it was his lucky day. Dean grinned as the two men stepped out of the bar and pulled his wand free from his jeans "Fancy meetin' you two here." With that the hunter wiggled his eyebrows and quickly uttered the words to the first spell, aiming for Bobby first, he knew he needed to instigate the hunter mostly and hoped Cas would follow along. Of course his spell missed and in the next instant Dean turned and fired another misfired spell at Cas.
Eyes going wide, he played it off well as he looked at the two men left unaffected and then down at his wand "Crap, these things don't shoot like guns." And with that, and another set of misfired spells over his shoulders Dean Winchester took off running down the halls heading for the spot Sam had set up .

Apart from that and a certain rather sheepish cast to his expression, there was no visible trace on him of the previous day's adventures.

Whoops. Later Bobby would blame the fatigue, or the headache, lack of coffee or anything that caused him to slip like that. But he would stand by what he said, even if it was the height of human arrogance to call an angel that was older than Creation itself 'son'.

He blinked slowly at the unexpected form of address, then dropped his eyes. Arrogance, perhaps, but his own Father hadn't chosen to show Castiel his face in all the long ages of his existence, let alone ask after his well-being. He was hardly going to take Bobby to task for what was, at the very worst, a well-intentioned accident. Especially under the circumstances.
"Slightly embarrassed," he said after a moment, "but otherwise, I'm fine." He paused a beat. "Bobby, I apologize. Even in that state it was inexcusable of me to be so...oblivious. If I had realized sooner what that tower was doing to you, I would have removed us immediately."

Even I didn't realize what was wrong until we were too far in. I should've said somethin, but it was my job to look out for you."
The old hunter grimaced and rubbed his forehead. Even mentioning the tower seemed to make his headache intensify. "You get rid of this headache and we can call it even," he said, his voice strained.

Working gingerly, looking beyond the places he'd usually target, he very carefully and very selectively blocked certain neural pathways, deadening the man's ability to perceive pain in specific regions since he couldn't correct the underlying cause.
"That should help," he said, dropping his hand, "but I'll have to undo it later. It shouldn't be left like that indefinitely." Pain served a necessary purpose; without it, Bobby could be seriously injured and never even realize it. Hopefully, the tower's lingering effects wouldn't take too long to fade. "Try to take it easy for a few days, Bobby, and call me immediately if you notice any other ill effects."

Bobby looked down at his hands, flexing them experimentally. The aches were gone. Well if it didn't last forever, he could at least enjoy a few days without any aches or pains.
"Thanks Cas, I'll call."

Date: 2011-01-17 11:28 pm (UTC)The angel took the hint, heading for the door. But he paused with his hand on the knob, glancing back at the old hunter. "Bobby...thank you," he said simply, the phrase encompassing his gratitude to the man on more than one count.
True to his word, he didn't linger, but pulled the door open and exited, closing it quietly behind him.
