Transfiguration Class

Minerva knew that students rarely made it to class on time these days (if at all) and so she left the following instructions on the board:


Today we will be turning straw into cheese straws. Please take a handful of straw from the table back to your work space.

A wand is required for this class. If you do not own one, see me. I have loaner wands you may use for this class.

Once you have all your supplies in order, you may begin with the lesson. Take a single straw and set it on your desk away from anything else. Point your wand at it and say the incantation "Caseum verto" while envisioning the straw turning into cheese. Do NO say "CaseUS verto" lest you turn part of yourself into cheese.

Once you have succesfully tranfigured three straws, call for me to come inspect your work. Do not eat your materials until I have inspected them!

If you require additional assistant, raise your hand and I will come help you.

Shyly Gillian raised her hand. "Excuse me, Professor? I'm not sure what I did..." She looked down at the pile of cheese straws on her desk, all of which were crackling with menacing, neon blue energy.

Meg was still holding her now useless (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/1302805.html?thread=66341141#t66341141) glasses, trying to get up the nerve to raise her hand when Gillian caught her eye. Or at least Meg thought that's who the other girl was. She carefully made her way over, staring at Gillian's progress. "I guess now would be a bad time to say hello," she offered dryly.

"Oh hi!" Gillian gave Meg a glad smile. "I've been meaning to look you up - got a bit busy with tutoring, you know how it is." She grinned sheepishly and gestured to the glowing cheese sticks. "I think I did something wrong, but I'm not sure exactly what."

"Oh, that's OK," Meg said. "I was busy getting adjusted to Hogwarts." She pulled out a nearby chair. "Heh, it does look like you maybe overdid things a bit. Then again, so did I." She held up her cheesetastic glasses as proof.

Gillian giggled at the sight. "Can I try them on?"

Her own suspicion regarding the cheese straws was that somehow in trasnfiguring them, she managed to transfer some small part of the Fury ino them. Gillian wished Renata was here to tell her. Because if she was right she was going to start transfiguring like nobody's business until the Fury was gone.

Would serve Childress right, having Robin's powers turned into cheese.

Meg handed her the glasses with a giggle. "Go for it. You can't see out of them though." She was still captivated by the cheese straws. "Not that I'm going to," she ventured, "But I guess touching those is right out?"

"I wouldn't," cautioned Gillian. "If that blue glow is what I think it is, you don't want any part of it." She tried the glasses on and struck a pose. "How do I look?"

"You look... cheesy," Meg said with a giggle. "I wish I had a camera. We could take each other's pictures with the glasses." She frowned. "I just hope I can fix them... And... um... Will those cheese straws... stay like that?"

Gillian looked at the glowing cheese straws doubtfully. "I don't know. But I hope so," she said. "Hey, did you know wizard pictures move?"

"Oh, yeah, I've seen those!" Meg said. "They're interesting! I wonder how they do it?"

Gillian grinned. "Magic! I guess we have to let them turn these back, huh?" She handed the glasses back to Meg and considered the glowing cheese. "Do you think we can get a tray from somewhere? It's pretty important that nobody touch those."
