Lily,
Took a little trip to London over the weekend.Hope these are okay, just a little way of saying thanks for helping JD out with the dinner. Also can I ask you a question about the patronus charm from that class. Didn't want to ask it then, well didn't want JD to get in a mess about me wanting to know. And you'll be glad to hear no memory charms I'm not even considering them anymore.
~Jack.
Along with the note is a collection, well a small stack of books.
((Spoilers.))
Returned by Bob, heavily warded, charmed to show a map of the London Museum to anyone else
Date: 2006-11-28 06:07 am (UTC)These are brilliant. Thank you! And no worries, love, I was glad to help. I'm just glad you two had fun.
I'm glad to hear about the memory charms. But ask away - anything I don't know, I'm sure I can find out for you.

Re: Returned by Bob, heavily warded, charmed to show a map of the London Museum to anyone else
Date: 2006-11-28 06:16 am (UTC)It ended with us running through the great hall naked. It was a good night... well I lie, we did have bowties on.
I was wondering, if the patronus should have a sligtly golden glow to it, mine did, JD's didn't. I'm thinking it could have to do with something that happened. I'm going to tell you something that well may sound odd. I died. In the future, big battle, daleks. I was brought back, don't know how, don't know why. I was back. Alive again. I found out something then too. I get killed. I can pretty much just get up again. I've been shot in the head, stabbed in the heart, electrocuted a couple of times and these are just the few things I can say off hand. The light that brought me back was golden. I can get sick, but not die.
Does that even make sense? I just want to know if all that has something to do with what I noticed.

Return duck, heavily warded, hastily charmed to do something horrific to anyone but Jack
Date: 2006-11-28 06:27 am (UTC)You... You're sure it's not just the no-kill rule? I mean, the implications alone are staggering... If there's something about you now that's able to regenerate damaged tissue, blood loss, muscles...
Come to the Hospital Wing. Er...not when Perry or JD are there. I have an early shift tomorrow and I'm fairly certain I'll be alone. I want to draw some blood for tests.
As far as the Patronus... I've...actually never heard of them changing colours. Shapes, yes, but... Perhaps it has something to do with the memory you chose? Did it have something to do with coming back? Or...
I need... Research. Owl me back if you can come to the Wing...
I... Perhaps...
What if...
(The note is not signed and the handwriting has trailed off as if the writer suddenly was seized by an idea and began writing notes rather than finishing the letter.)
Re: Return duck, heavily warded, hastily charmed to do something horrific to anyone but Jack
Date: 2006-11-28 06:33 am (UTC)No, this happened before I even arrived here. Shot in the head by, someone who is now here, in the middle of Cardiff Bay by the fountain. I have a witness too. A friend. Gwen Cooper. I was also told that my thoughts can't be read. Like I'm dead.
I'll be there.

Date: 2006-11-28 07:32 pm (UTC)That's... I suppose I should express my concern over the fact you were shot, yeah? I mean, good on you for not dying, but bloody hell, man, let's try to avoid that in the future.
Thoughts not being read, though, that's a puzzle. Not that this whole sodding thing isn't a bit off, but that's more troubling.

---
Barely had dawn started to light the corridors of Hogwarts than Lily was in the Wing, quickly going about her usual duties so she'd have more time to devote to Jack. Robe open and sleeves of her school uniform rolled up, Lily hurried from bed to bed, checking vitals, re-wrapping wounds, and generally making sure that everything was as it should be. Luckily, over the past months, her routine had become, well, routine. Her brain was most assuredly not firmly on the tasks at hand, rather on the implications and possible causes of Jack's unique situation.
From time to time she glanced over towards the door. Still blessedly JD and Perry free, though Merlin knew how much longer that would last. Hopefully Jack would arrive before Lily had to start making up excuses.

Date: 2006-11-28 08:23 pm (UTC)Walking into the wing quietly, he approached Lily hoping that she spotted him instead of making her jump. "Hey." Keeping his voice down, not wanting to break the relative peace that seemed to be the wing in the early morning.

Date: 2006-11-28 08:59 pm (UTC)The corners of her mouth crinkled as she spotted his lack of shoes out of the corner of her eye. "Sneaking about?" she laughed softly. "I'll find you something to wear back to Gryffindor, if you like. But go on - I'll just be another two seconds."

Date: 2006-11-28 09:45 pm (UTC)When Lily appeared she would find Jack sat on the edge of the bed, looking slightly awkward.

Date: 2006-11-28 09:55 pm (UTC)Writing quickly, Lily said, "Right. I need to know a few things, love, before I get started. The first being how long you've been...invincible." The word sounded odd, unreal, and Lily looked up at Jack for a second before returning to her writing. "And the second is what, exactly, your memory was for the Patronus."

Date: 2006-11-29 12:27 am (UTC)Jack looked away for a moment. "It wasn't one thing. And technically not a thing. People. A lot of them, then the few who cared about me. It felt odd..." He really wasn't quite sure how to explain, if he could. He'd never done it before so he didn't know how it should even have felt when doing that.

Date: 2006-11-29 05:17 pm (UTC)That meant it was biological. That meant there was a reason. And that meant that, possibly, Jack could hold a cure to a lot of different things. Lily's thoughts were, of course, on Ben, on Cox's desperate attempt to find a solution for his friend's disease. There was a reason she hadn't gone immediately to Perry with what Jack had told her - not that she didn't think he could keep it secret, but because she didn't want to build up false hope until she knew something for certain.
"Right," she murmured, finishing her notes and putting the chart aside. "I'm going to draw some blood. Now, while I do so, tell me about what happens when you're, er, injured. Do you heal up instantly or is there a recovery time?" Picking up a needle, Lily expertly slid it into Jack's arm and began to draw a vial of blood.

Date: 2006-11-29 07:05 pm (UTC)"I said some stupid things, had a pointless arguement. I asked her if she wanted to shoot me again. Said she didn't need to. Pulled out a knife." Jack frowned and shook his head, he had to explain a lot more because he didn't need someone else thinking that Suzie was some sort of psycho, not like JD. Suzie wasn't like that. "I don't think she knew quite what she was doing and I wasn't helping with provoking her at all." Jack sighed, before he continued. "I could feel it. I could feel the blade. I felt it come out as I fell. It's hard to describe, couldn't have been more than a minutes, two. Coughing, breathing again. The pain was worse, then just went..." He hoped that helped her understand something.

Date: 2006-11-30 06:04 pm (UTC)No change flickered across her face from her carefully set expression of neutral concern, but Jack's story about Suzie was...disturbing. Still, it was his life, and she'd not a doubt that in many things Jack was more than able to take care of himself. Instead of responding to that, Lily simply put the vials down and healed the needle puncture with a soft tap of her wand. Sitting back, she regarded him a moment.
"I...I've got to admit, love, I'm baffled. If you felt no pain at all, didn't bleed or healed instantly, then I'd think perhaps it was some sort of invulnerability charm. But all indications is that it's a biological change in your body. Some sort of accelerated healing..." She paused and shook her head. "I'll run some tests, do some research. In the meantime, don't go about letting people stab you, yeah?" Lily's tone was light, but her eyes searched Jack's, concerned. "If we don't know what it is that's letting you do this, we don't know if it'll stop."
Everything Jack had said was jotted down in her notes on the (unmarked) chart. Then, setting all that aside, she stood up. "Right, going to take some vitals and then you can get dressed again." The exam was quick - just a few spells cast, Lily's fingers pressing lightly to his pulse point, and a quick image capture of his internal organs. Once that was finished, Lily gave Jack a smile and gathered up her things.
"All right, love, if you don't mind, once you've gotten out of that fetching gown," Lily grinned, "perhaps you'll cast your Patronus again? I want to take a closer look." That was the most puzzling thing for Lily. The body could do strange things, and Merlin knew the whole 'travel through space and time' bit that Jack had might have done any number of things to him physically, but a golden Patronus... That was baffling.
((Ah! I'm so sorry, for some reason I thought I'd done this reply already. *is a loser* Also, er, what would you like Lily to find out about all this? Anything? Or just continue to be baffled? I'm open to anything you like! XD))

Date: 2006-11-30 07:24 pm (UTC)"I would ask does it make my ass look good, but from worry of that crazy Nutter lady turning up and hexing things I'd rather not have hexed for harrassing her staff I won't. Oh that and I'm wearing no pants..." He laughed, as he started to get dressed once Lily had left. Back to his jeans, JD's shirt and no shoes. Once done he poked his head round the curtain to attract Lily's attention again. He found his wand carelessly stuffed into the back pocket of his jeans. "So..." He pulled the wand out of the pocket and held it, waiting further instruction. "I have to ask why are you doing this? Learning or something else?" If there was one thing consitant with humanity throughout, there was always another motive for something than what was said. While there may have been one of two exceptions Jack hadn't come across one and didn't intend to start thinking that they existed for himself quite yet.
