Starting at five o’clock, Slartibartfast ambled around to each of the common rooms, pasting instructions for the tour onto each board. He’d realized he’d neglected to specify a meeting place, so, in addition to strongly advising good coats and sturdy shoes, he let everyone know that they were to meet in the Great Hall at six.

He killed the remaining hour by hunting for lint and examining the stones that made up the school building--whoever had been making granite in this area had done a bang-up job of it. He might not know a great deal about Earthman society, but he did know good craftsmanship, and whoever had been in charge of this part of the world had clearly known what they were doing.

Come six o’clock he wandered down to the Great Hall, a small red square on a gold chain dangling from his fingers.

“All, all, all right, if everyone, ah, could kindly hop into the car--” he indicated an aircar that looked suspiciously like a minibus, hovering several feet above the floor “--and, and, and buckle up, we can, ah, we can be, well, we can be off.”

"So... you weren't bothered by the flying car or the... whatever the hell happened back there, but this bugs you?" Cox snorted, amused; the Improbability Drive had been plenty more worrying than this. Then again, he didn't exactly drive under the speed limit, and even though this was far faster than his Porsche, he actually found himself enjoying the speed.

"Ah, come on," he teased, resting his hands on her shoulders. "It's like a~~ roller coaster, or~... the exact opposite of getting in a car with Newbie."

"The flying car wasn't headed towards a solid object!" she protested, daring to look back over her shoulder. Yeah, still headed towards a door. Turning back, her fingers gripping his shirt, she shook her head. "Never been on a roller coaster. And I like to be in control whilst I'm traveling at speeds that could kill me. Call it a quirk."

Again looking back, she gulped and glanced up at him. "I think the fact you aren't worried about this at all is what scares me the most. This thing is being driven by the barmy bloke who sold me a moon in exchange for charming lint!" Not able to stop herself from watching, Lily turned back around, leaning against Cox. "It's like a sodding splinching - I should look away, but I can't."

Snickering, he held her around the waist, trying not to roll his eyes too much. "A~dmit it, Red. You're just a big wuss. I mean, don't get me wrong, the man is crazier than Johnny the Tackling Alzheimer's Patient, but he also appears to have done this before and survived. Besides," he added with a wink, "most of the group is in front of us. We can always use them to cushion the fall."

"Fine. I'm a big wuss because I don't like going really, really fast towards things I'm pretty sure would hurt to run into." Squinting, still not quite able to turn completely away, Lily laughed. "Wait - Johnny the what now?" Then, grimacing, she shook her head, "Never mind. Tell me when we're not dead."

Still facing the front, Lily took a deep breath and grabbed Cox's hand as they plunged seemingly into the door. (http://community.livejournal.com/hogwarts_hocus/930765.html?thread=45950157#t45950157)
