Wolfram and Roxy's Duel ((Open RP))

((This is a duel between Wolfram and Roxy, though curious onlookers are to be expected and encouraged.))

Wolfram finished writing in the grass, with chalk, a circle with the diameter of 4.55 metres. It was the same size as the traditional Dohyo, which was from a sport that he came into unfortunate contact with during his duel with Yuuri. Still, it was an alternative to actively hurting a woman, as irritating though she might be. Though Wolfram might find doing such a thing difficult with a one tonne stone. Two such stones awaited use just outside the circle, and Wolfram suspected only one will ever leave the ground.

What was he thinking? Like a girl that small could ever lift such a thing! She was just trying to frighten him. Fine. If he couldn't use a sword, he'd push Roxy out any way he could.

Wolfram turned to anyone who might be watching.

"The duel between Roxy Spaulding, Gryffindor, and Lord Wolfram von Bielefeld, Hufflepuff, will soon begin! Let it be known that this terrible event could have been avoided, if only Miss Spaulding had apologized for the insult against my fiancé and King, Shibuya Yuuri! As I was the one who challenged her, Miss Spaulding has chosen the weapons. The weapons are one tonne stones." He faltered slightly at this, but then continued. "It will begin at the sound of the buzzer, and end when one of us is either pushed out of the ring, knocked unconscious, or dead. And, of course, she can always forfeit."

"Who wants to ring the buzzer!?"

Wolfram limped back to Ryuuji, holding himself as if he had won the duel with a daring feat of strength and not on a technicality. He held out a hand, imperiously. "Now return my sword to me."

He looked out at Roxy's retreating form. "She was overcome with fear and lost her concentration. It is obvious she has never received a soldier's training!" And it was also obvious that Wolfram was doing everything he could to make people forget the image of him twirling in the air.

Ryuuji offered up the sword with both hands as he'd been taught to do, the sheath resting on the palms of his hands so that Wolfram could simply lift it off. Inwardly, he howled with laughter, but outwardly, he maintained a solemn expression.

"Who wouldn't be scared at the sight of you charging towards them? Truly a terrifying sight." Ryuuji stated. Wow. He ought to get a medal for not having laughed at the sight of Wolfram being blown right off the ground, as if he were a Barbie being lifted by a giant hand.

With practiced ease, Wolfram took his sword and attached it back to his belt. His serious expression outmatched even Ryuuji's, although the demon probably knew how silly he looked. That was probably the reason behind his solemn manner.

"Yes. When I charged at Yuuri like that, he eventually turned into his Maou form. He only does that when someone is in grave danger." The demon doesn't mention that Yuuri only transformed after a misfired blast of flame almost harmed one of the serving girls, which caused the Maou to appear to give Wolfram a metaphorical spanking.

"Why did you charge at Yuuri, and what's a Maou form?" Ryuuji asked curiously, uncrossing his legs and pushing himself to stand up. The grass stained the inside of his hands a light green, and Ryuuji dusted his hands against each other lightly without thinking, trying to get rid of the smears.

"I was dueling him at the time. And Yuuri's Maou form is what happens when he uses the full powers of his station. With it he saves the innocent and punishes the wicked. Justice." Wolfram took a step back when Ryuuji rose, one hand resting over his hip, several inches above the pommel of his sword.

"What were you duelling him over?" Ryuuji questioned curiously, arching a eyebrow slightly at Wolfram's pose -- honestly, could you get any girlier? -- but not commenting. His own wrists were wrapped over with white bandages, cuffs gone, and he slid his hands into his pockets, utterly relaxed and at his ease.

"It was the day after he proposed to me," Wolfram says, as if it was self-explanatory. Not turning his back to Ryuuji, he takes out his wand and signals for a House Elf. It was time to clean up.

"And it's traditional to duel someone after they propose to you?" Ryuuji inquired, wondering what sort of weird customs Wolfram's world had. Huh. He'd need to be careful around him, clearly.

"Don't be ridiculous." Wolfram rolls his eyes and sniffs. "I was insulted by the proposal. We had only just met when he slapped me, and we were not on the best of terms. I didn't believe that he was suited to be the Maou. I was mistaken, but you couldn't fault me for believing such things at the time. Yuuri is only half-demon, and was raised amongst humans!"

"...Slappped you?" Ryuuji blinked at that. Okay, he wasn't exactly bestest-buddies with Wolfram, but even Wolfram shouldn't be in abusive relationships. And Yuuri had seemed so cute, really not the type to hurt anyone he was with!

"Yes! It was humiliating. And so I challenged him to a duel, and he accepted." And Yuuri won. Three times in a row. But he wasn't about to tell Ryuuji that. He might try to talk Terry out of his fencing lessons.

"...Well, I'm glad that you stood up for yourself, at least." Ryuuji stated, still rather worried about Wolfram. Cautiously, not sure if he was treading on delicate grounds, he asked, "Does he, er, slap you often -- and what occasioned him to do it that first time?"

"Like a Mazoku Prince would do any less!" He crosses his arms and looks proud. But that soon reverses into shame when he confesses, "I called his mother an insensitive woman with loose morals. And then he proposed to me." Wolfram looks at Ryuuji in confusion. "Why would he need to slap me a second time? The first one served its purpose."

He widens his eyes. "Unless you're speaking of a backhanded blow. You don't think he would do such a thing, would you?"

Insulting his mother made him propose? What the hell?! Utterly confused by that, Ryuuji canted his head to a side, studying Wolfram thoughtfully, "Well, I didn't think that he'd be the type to slap someone for insulting his mother," Slaps are so GIRLY, "So I guess that I could be wrong and he's also the type to use backhanded blows?"

Pause. "Why did he propose to you after you called his mother names? That seems a little illogical."

"You think Yuuri would still be so upset from such a thing as to cancel our engagement!?" Wolfram's eyes dart back and forth as he considers this possibility. "I won't let him!" The Mazoku pulls the sword from his sheath and raises it dramatically to the sky. "I'll kill the both of us first!"

He sighs in exasperation as he lowers his weapon. "He says that he was not aware that he was proposing at the time, but it was obviously an attempt to embarrass me. Well, I'm his betrothed now, either way!"

Okay, whoa. And I thought that my life was dramatic. Somewhat alarmed, having taken an instinctive step back at having edged weapons drawn near him, Ryuuji quirked an eyebrow at Wolfram. Okay. So Yuuri hadn't been aware that he was proposing to Wolfram, but how exactly did someone ask another person to marry them without knowing it?

"Why didn't he know he was asking you to marry him?"

Wolfram made a noise of skepticism before answering Ryuuji's question. "Yuuri attempted to convince me that he didn't know that it was custom among aristocrats to propose by slapping your loved one on the cheek. But if he was truly our Maou, which he is, he wouldn't make such a mistake."

The demon attempted to comfort himself. "He would never backhand me. He sent me a song. And he knows I would kill him horribly."

Okay. THAT makes more sense. Who the hell would think of a slap on the cheek as being a marriage proposal? Not voicing his thoughts about Wolfram's weird culture, Ryuuji pointed out logically, "But if he was raised by humans, then how would he know your customs? Customs are a cultural construct, meaning that they're something that people create, not something that's instinctive and coded into your blood."

Still, by way of comfort, he added, "I don't think that he'd backhand you, really, though I don't get what that has to do with sending you a song..."

"Ai no mama ni wagamama ni, boku wa kimi dake wo kizutsukenai. Taiyou ga kooritsuite mo, boku to kimi dake yo kienai de!" Wolfram yelled it like it was a battle cry. He had recited Yuuri's song over and over until it was stuck to his memory. It was proof that Yuuri cared about him. Of course it was proof that Yuuri wouldn't end their engagement!

"Yuuri is part demon! He could speak our language just from awakening the powers within him. A part of him had to know what slapping me meant." He held to this stubbornly, and almost desperately. He did not seem happy that Ryuuji was questioning it.

"...Sweet." Ryuuji blinked, mentally translating the lyrics. Even as love is selfish, you're the only one I won't hurt.

Even if the sun turns to ice, please let us be the only ones who still exist.

Huh. That actually was sweet.

Leaving that aside, Ryuuji gave Wolfram a mildly exasperated look, "Calm down. You're getting upset again. I'm just trying to figure out more rules of your culture, and if backhanding you means anything more than he just wants to smack you."

"It means," his lips tremble slightly. "That he would want to call our engagement off." He frowned. "He's always flirting with girls, or... or... he's a big cheater!"

"...Awww, no, no, I'm sure he wouldn't do that!" Ryuuji observed the telltale signs of impending tears, and quickly switched into comfort mode. The last thing he wanted was to make Wolfram cry, damnit. And besides, if Yuuri hadn't divorced Wolfram so far, why would he do it now? "Really. And flirting doesn't mean anything if you're the one he's engaged to."

Wolfram wasn't about to cry, but the idea of Yuuri breaking their engagement harmed him more than his betrothed's various conversations with girls. It hurt, like someone had punched him in the gut. And then took his insides out and replaced them with a well. A sad, empty well.

He looked at Ryuuji as if he was some sort of moron. "Are you insane? Flirting means everything! It means he's a vile, cheating, wimpy, cheating, gross, evil little CHEATER!"

Ryuuji arched an eyebrow at Wolfram, and shook his head slightly, "But it doesn't mean he's going to do anything with her. And as long as he's just flirting with them, it's just him talking to them, so it's not the same as cheating."

Pause. "Though, if he was going to kiss one of them or anything, then you'd be within your rights to call him anything you like."

"It's a terrible thing to do to me! After I protect the wimp and sleep with him and buy the nicest nighties and cook stew with his mother, he makes me into a laughing stalk!" He made a sound not unlike a growl and pointed an imperious finger at Ryuuji.

"You better not tell Yuuri that his cheating ways are harmless. It will give him ideas, and he will do it more and more often. He's already flirting with an 800 year old priestess trapped in the body of an eight year old child!"

He gestured to the ring where he had his duel. "Do you know why I had to fight just earlier? To defend Yuuri's honor! That wench called my fiancé easy."
