- Extensive study of the astrological charts compiled and created by the Dame de Doubtance.
- Use of divination (Hepatoscopy, Dowsing, I-Ching, Tasseomancy, Cartomancy, Floriography, etc.) and related disciplines (rune-casting, weather forecasting, animal and military tracking, historical parallel, etc.) in my service as a military commander.

Other Qualifications:
- An unparalleled judge of character and leader of men.

Notable Skills:
- Fluent in over six languages (Scots, English, French, Russian, Italian, Latin, etc.) and passable in many others.
- Widely traveled (for my time period)
- Deadly at Chess.

The Board apologizes for the delay, Mr. Crawford! It notes your extensive experience in numerous methods of divination, and excellent references. It further notes your demeanor, and believes the students may take you more seriously than it has past divination professors, one of whom was a bit flighty and one of whom, while serious himself, was part horse.

Therefore, Francis Crawford, you are hereby appointed Professor Divination of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, for the standard term of one year, to be continued upon application and approval. Your pay is set at the standard rate of *G*5,000 per annum, with room, board and sufficient robes and linens, and a house elf designated to attend to your needs. You may continue to live in Hufflepuff House, if you wish. However, you may wish to make use of separate, more private chambers. Your classroom and office are located in the North Tower, accessed through a trapdoor. Your keys to your office, classroom, chambers, the Staffroom, and the Staff Bath are enclosed.

I humbly give my thanks, Sirrah. It is an honor most high to be given the opportunity to instruct in such an institution. Be assured that your trust will not be misplaced.

I was not aware of the... uncertain nature of the occupiers of my post previous to my enstatement. While I am certain they served to the best of their abilities, I must state that my own teaching style may be viewed as severe - most likely far more severe than the students will be accustomed to. I demand absolute obedience and respect from my pupils, and accept no excuses for tardiness, absence, or incompletion of the tasks given. That is, unless, they give notice one week prior of the class in question.

I hope these mesaures are not view as too strict by the board members, as I have developed them over a period of many years. Admittedly, the students of my teachings were grown men, many of them battle-hardened and calloused to the ways of thw world... but I trust the students of Hogwarts will cope.
