Attention everyone!

Remember the night out planned? It's tonight!

We'll meet at the front gates of Hogwarts at 6PM this time, and leave by 6:15. If you can't make it then, we're leaving maps that you can pick up and use to follow us, or if you don't want to go drinking and just want to go clubbing, then we'll be back in three hours.

Hoping to see you all there!

~*~

Fifteen minutes early for a change, discarding his usual approach of being fashionably late, Ryuuji waited by the gates as planned, hands stuffed in the pockets of his leather jacket and hair twisted into a bun held back by jade chopsticks. He hadn't made any other change to his usual attire, though the bag over his back did hold a pair of leather trousers for Nightwing, and an electric blue eyeliner pencil. That was all he needed, really.

Now all he had to do was wait for his fellow fun-lovers to show up.

~*~

For those who were left behind, there are pieces of paper tacked to the front gates, bearing an explanation almost identical to the one that Ryuuji gave the group. The portal is still open.

Can I come?

Uh...hello.

I was just like, wondering, right, like if I could come along. I won't be a nuisance or anything, and I doubt I'll drink anything. I might just have a bag of crisps or something - but not meat flavour, 'cause I don't abuse my body and the world I live in.

...And I'll try to keep out of the way and everything and not hassle anybody or anything.

Leather pants would have at least been more interesting than what Nightwing actually showed up wearing – exceptionally bland jeans and a Gotham Knights shirt, all terribly, determinedly wholesome. The blue hair, though – that was new.

"You know, Ryuuji," he called, cheerful, as he approached the gate, "I'm not sure how good an idea going out drinking with you is. You tricked me into letting you dye my hair when I was sober; if I wake up with a hangover and a pierced ear tomorrow morning, there's gonna be hell to pay, man."

A Night Out

*clears throat*

Yes, hello. I'm the Doctor. I'm new around these parts you see. I'm looking for a blonde-haired girl called Romana, and a little robot dog called K-9 - he's about knee high, and of course, my TARDIS you see. You haven't happened to have seen them have you? No, no, I don't suppose you have.

Well. I really have no idea what I'm doing here other than to say I appear to be stranded. And I am looking for my friends, and they don't seem to be anywhere about. Perhaps they might be at this pub you're talking about?

You wouldn't perchance allow me to tag along so I can possibly find my friends and get off this fucking planet and, well, get back to my own personal business?

Johnny skulked along, looking distinctly uncomfortable and feeling even more so. He'd almost backed out and wasn't really sure why he hadn't.

Seeing the growing crowd, he shivered slightly. Again, he wondered why he'd talked himself into this. He tried to smile, but it came out more like a grimace.

It wasn't often Teatime took time to go out to have fun that wasn't job-related, because job-related fun was the best sort. He didn't often go clubbing, anyways. In fact, if you put it that way...he didn't go clubbing at all. He didn't drink, either. That dulled the senses and the reflexes.

Socialising, however, would in this case accomplish something. He wanted to know who he was with in this school and who, in a pinch, he could count on as useful in some way. Also important would be an opportunity to learn who he would be better off rid of. Perhaps there'd also be a client in the bunch, and he could start up a Hogwarts Guild of Assassins. Doubtful, but there was always a chance.

Things were looking up, altogether, for Jonathan Teatime, and, as he generally did when they were (or whenever things were at least partially on his side), he was currently smiling broadly (and also fairly frighteningly). Basic black, of course, was his choice in clothing; his creativity in this regard was gravitating towards the things he'd worn in the past.

"Hi!" he said brightly to the thus-far-assembled group.

Door smiled at him nervously; Teatime made her acutely uncomfortable, but he was a member of her house, and after all, better he was where she could see him.

"I wasn't sure if you were coming tonight. It's nice to see you here!"

Steerpike knew this was going to be a fun night.

He always took care with his grooming, but tonight he'd taken especial care. Boots freshly polished, clothes carefully purged of any speck of lint. Hair caught back in a beaten silver clasp. He'd debated bringing his swordcane, but decided against it. Now, he was glad. It would have been awkward with this many people around.

Oh yes. It was going to be a fun night.

Though it had taken nearly twice as long to get dressed that evening than it normally did because he didn't have Jeeves to help, Bertie eventually managed to struggle into his usual black tie and headed down to where the party-goers were gathered.

"What ho, what ho!" he called out cheerfully to the well dressed crowd.

"What ho!" he added for emphasis.

Lupin shows up in a slightly battered but smart dark-grey suit which had once belonged to his father. Vintage is "in," he figures, so hopefully he doesn't look too unfashionable. It's been a long time since he's dressed up for a night out and he feels a bit awkward, like someone's grandfather showing up at a rave.

He straightens his tie self-consciously. "Well? Are we off, then?"

Apparently, Nightwing had been placed in charge of the technical side of things – after bounding through the portal, he made immediately for a battered looking machine on one of the side tables. Once a fine example of sound equipment ingenuity, the karaoke system had clearly seen better days, the black plastic scruffy along the edges and the top suggesting more than a few poundings from fists.

"I don't think we're singing right away, because I know I for one need a lot more alcohol before I do that," he called out, "but I should probably warn everybody from the start that the entire musical catalog of Elton John is off-limits – I borrowed the machine from the Justice League, and, well, after a legendarily horrifying Superman rendition of 'The Way You Look Tonight' . . . I think Zantanna hexed it. It was rigged to send people to the Falkland Islands or turn them into penguins or something; she said she was pretty sure the hex'd worn off, but I'm thinking we play it safe."

Trevor walks to the appointed site and sees the instructions taped to the gate. He follows the directions and finds himself faced with a golem. Somewhat perplexed, he follows the golem's directions and takes a seat a bit away from the crowd. He's dressed in a double-breasted blue suit with a pale yellow cravat, and there's a small white butterfly bandage on a small wound on his right cheek. He observes the others with a combination of reserve, amusement, and expectation.
