New... ((Open RP, Great Hall))

Things have settled out, more or less. It's strange being around so many people and so much...holiday weirdness. Though, this really is the first year I've cared about it.

So much has changed in this year. Last year...my last year, which is a year from now...what a strange way of thinking...I was in an all out race to my own death. Now, here, it is both before and after that.

I really need to quit being so maudlin. I'm starting to sound like that damn drunk cop.

I've one of the books Near gave me, but the library's too quite for now. I need more distractions. I head into the Great Hall and ask the house elves for hot milk and, much to their horror, put my own chocolate in it. They say if I wanted hot chocolate, I should ask for it. I say if they could make good hot chocolate, I would.

Swimming Competition ((Open RP))

Tako had been waiting to try making fish and chips for ages. It had been a success, with the exception of losing two tentacles and that small fryer explosion. Now with burns and severed limbs bandaged, he and recruited some house elves to help him serve food to the people of Hogwarts.

What better place for fish and chips than right next to the lake? Tako had a booth set up not far from the shore. Over the table was a large sign that read "FREE FOOD FROM YOUR FRIEND, TAKO!" Under that was a smaller sign that read "Go Giant Squid!" because Tako liked to support his fellow cephalopods. Tentacle-written under that was "Go Beowulf!" since Tako had gotten fan mail from the not-so-little fellow, and Tako loved his fans. Finally, with a Sharpie he'd scrawled "Go other guy!" because he wanted to be fair, and possibly win over another fan.

The octopus happily served food while waiting for the race to begin. He was also taking bets under the table, with the odds favoring the Giant Squid over Beowulf or James Bond. Tako had all of his money on the squid.
