Mel can't/doesn't need to/doesn't feel like sleep (ing).
Currently, she's in the Great Hall, dressed in a long nightdress that would look romantic and sweet were it not for the fact it is shocking orange and she has a red dressing gown thrown around it.
She's looking out of the window and wondering if it will snow. Her Granny lived in Scotland--well, the Highlands,-- and although Mel can't remember exactly when she started complaining about snow, November seems a safe bet.
'I could kill for a hot chocolate right now,' she remarks to nobody in particular.
