Bellatrix comes in with her trunks, having found kreacher shortly after her sorting. He obligingly carries her things up to her dorm, where she spends some time unpacking, before returning to the common room. She curls into her old favourite chair, like a remembered friend, then starts writing letters. After sending them out the window with her pet raven, she returns to the chair and waits to see who's around.

In slightly less than a week, I'll be stuck on a train for fifteen straight hours. And six days after that, another fifteen hours for the return trip. Due to the circumstances of how I'm spending my spring break, (I'm spending it building houses in New Orleans, because I am a masochistic orphan-shoer, and I am so terrified I will drop a hammer on my head, what am I doing, I'm a policy wonk not a carpenter!) I can't bring much with me to keep myself busy during these long, dull slogs.

One type of busywork that is available to me, however, is something I've been playing with doing for a couple of months: a H_H mix, with songs representative of (at least to my mind) assorted characters. (Bless you, eminently portable mp3 players.) The mixes will be divided up by House and uploaded . . . sometime in the week after next, probably, if all goes according to plan. I can make no promises for my musical taste, but I have close to 4000 songs loaded on this thing, and that many monkeys on that many typewriters ought to yield some good results.

So! If you would like your characters to be included, please give me a comment here. I have only two requests:

1) If you have a sizable horde of characters, please take mercy on me. No more than three characters per player, please, so this doesn't become a terrifying twelve-CD collection.
2) I won't be able to check my email after Saturday morning, so please get all requests in by 10:00 pm EST Friday.

ETA: Still accepting requests until 10:00 pm EST tonight! Would especially appreciate Hufflepuff additions, and some more Gryffs; they're lagging behind Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Attention students.

Due to the influx of owls, I've opted to just condense things into a sizable enough announcement.

To all those wishing to join DADA this year, and if your name isn't on the roster sheet already, sign up below.

This will be rather important later on. For any who ask, you will use the book Advanced Defense Against the Dark Arts Part Eight. Anything else will be provided to you in class.

Students signed so far )

Nny thought he'd lose his mind (well, lose it further) if they didn't get to administer a detention soon. Right now he was leaning against the sturdy table that served them as a desk (currently littered with his recent correspondence with Ryuuji), practicing throwing knives at a target on the far wall.

Hopefully Teatime would come by soon. A little conversation would be a good thing right now.

Crowley was sitting in greenhouse #3 with his feet up on the table thumbing through an Herbology trade magazine. He was waiting for Damien Thorn who had, he checked his watch, three minutes to show up for his detention.

River woke, having fallen asleep in Stephen's arms some time before, and twisted around in his embrace to look up at him.

It had come to her in her sleep, the way equations had done, once: she'd find the occasional physics problem that was a genuine challenge, stare at it for a few hours, give up and sleep on it... and wake with the answer in her mind. This wasn't as elegant, as complete... but it was at least a start.

"We don't know each other," she said softly, reaching out to touch his cheek. "We know more about each other than we should, but we don't really know each other."

((OOC: Rated R+ for adult content including fun with shiny sharp things in a consensual context, bloodplay, and attendant squick-potential. And Patrick O'Brian is probably spinning in his grave like a high-power turbine, but then he wrote Stephen/Diana Villiers so maybe not. Oh, and this is a case of "Come for the angst, stay for the smut"--- as in, not just kink.))
