A always welcomed more knowledge on medicinal plants. He'd learned so much from Kusuriyuri, and knew there was so much more to learn; Kurama had a whole new vista of experience to share.

So he made his way cheerfully to Greenhouse Three for his lesson.

This is one of those 'let's not tell Near what we're planning' things. He's not that thrilled with me being stoned, or that's what I gathered from last time. The only thing I'm concerned about is that pot makes me want to hold things. Why the fuck do I have to be snuggly when high.

Whatever. It'll help to relax. The meeting was hell. I see A crossing the lawn as I'm approaching the greenhouse from the other side.

"I thought four twenty referred to the time, not the date."

Matt brought some more munchies with him as he entered, the last to arrive. "Hey."

Kurama greeted them all with a wave and a grin, holding open the door just long enough for Belophoebe to sneak in behind Matt. "Don't be a smartass, Mello," though it was inevitable; Smartass was just Mello's natural state of being.

He hadn't expected to see Matt or Mello there. Were they going to be learning about medicinal plants as well? A certainly wouldn't begrudge sharing a lesson; other people might have questions he wouldn't have thought of, and he could learn that much more.

"I, I'm ready to learn," he said a little shyly.

"And here, I thought you liked me," I say sarcastically to Kurama. I turn to A and say, "Today's lesson is on the relaxation properties of certain plants. When used sparingly and in moderation, they're quite harmless." I know I've heard that somewhere, just can't remember where.

"And it's better to do it with more than one person," Matt added, sitting on the floor, his preferred spot to get high.

From:

"Matt and Mello agreed to help with the lesson considering they have experience in this kind of plant magic before. And it's more fun when you have a group of friends with you." Kurama gestured to the prepared weed and to the plants themselves. "You grow variations of cannabis in your greenhouse, if I recall. These strains are a bit more potent, and faster-acting."

A gave Kurama a slightly startled look; this wasn't at all the sort of lesson he'd been expecting. He knew that cannabis was an intoxicant, but only in an abstract sort of way. However...

He looked at Mello.

"Is, is it similar to that potions class? The mixture the professor had us drink was pretty potent. I, I, I saw DNA."

"Not really," I say. "This is more of a relaxant, a mild central nervous system depressant, than a hallucinogenic. It helps to relax some inhibitions and helps to ease the mind, a bit like alcohol, but is less toxic to the body in general." I shrug. "It's very different and the effects are better enjoyed with friends in a safe place." I think a minute and remember something that Kurama and I had joked about. "It's like cat nip for people."

Matt snorted. "Maybe you should have brought your cats and catnip along, then everyone can get stoned together."

From:

"Cats are affected my marijuana as well," Kurama pointed out, giving Belophoebe a scritch between the ears. "A, this isn't a requirement for you, if you don't want it. If you ever feel uncomfortable with this, just say so."

"I've watched Schrodinger and Einstein play when they have had catnip," A said. "Einstein likes to sleep, and Schrodinger likes to frolic. When Wishbone turns into a cat he likes to have some and play with Schrodinger as well. It seems to make them feel very good and I am curious."

"If you start feeling wrong, tell us so we can take care of you, understood?" I say. I take a seat near one of the walls and get comfortable. "You could have brought bean bags," I bitch at Kurama.

"What? What's wrong with the floor?" Aside from Matt might be getting a little dirty.

From:

"What's wrong with these?" Kurama gestured to the hanging chairs he'd grown for them, taking one for himself as he began to prepare the pipe. "A, I want you to take this as a lesson too; Mello will always whine about things that he has absolutely no business whining about. One must endure with grace and serenity these outbursts, for he is, in a word, crazy."

A listened to Kurama's brief lecture attentively. "Sometimes it is good to hex him also," he said solemnly. "If he can't move he can't whine."

Of course, it was a long time since he'd hexed Mello, and he had no intention of doing so again.

Seriously, with friends like this...

"And, A, keep in mind that Kurama will talk to hear his own voice as he thinks it mellifluous, regardless of the truth. He is also an arrogant prig under the best of circumstances," I say, not bothering to move.

"And that, A, is why I usually bury myself in my games. I should have brought something."

"You two are incorrigible," Kurama huffed, finishing the pipe and fishing a lighter from his pocket. "A, would you like to green it?" A pause, "I mean, to start."

A had been about to reassure Mello that there were silencing hexes as well, but it seemed like they were progressing to the actual lesson, so he shed his faux-seriousness for actual solemnity.

"I don't know how it is done," he said, unashamed; why should he know? "I'll need to be taught."

"Old man, you're getting senile. Show him how." I lean back against the wall a little more to watch.

Matt nodded. "It's your pot, you should roll first."

Kurama stuck his tongue out at Mello and demonstrated For A, drawing in a lungful and blowing out smokerings, just because he could. "You don't have to hold the flame on it for very long, just enough to singe the kind." he handed over the pipe and the lighter. "Don't worry if you cough, or if you can't take in very much."
