So, the talking hat (which was somehow more intimidating than a talking fridge) had placed Satou in Ravenclaw. The trouble was,he had no idea what that meant, and the bizarre little bug-eyed big-eared creatures he'd seen scuttling around unnerved him too much to try and ask.

He had, however, taken Kurama's promise of free room and board to heart, and a bit of wandering had lead him to the Great Hall, which happened to have a modest buffet laid out. Jackpot! Before anyone could tell him he couldn't, he took a plate and began piling on fish and chips (mostly fish).

That was the board part seen to. Now he needed to sort out the room.

"Why would I do that?" Yukimura asked, genuinely perplexed at the reaction. "Have you not been told this place gathers people from across time as well?" It was one of the first things he'd become aware of, but that might have been because of his own circumstances.

"I can only believe so much, ha ha." Satou smiled weakly. He was beginning to worry that his sanity had slipped a few more notches.

Yukimura tilted his head slightly. "I suppose that's true. But, I had no choice in the matter. I was walking into a room and found myself in that Sorting Room without any warning and no way to return. Four hundred years and a completely different part of the world." He shook his head. "In time, you will understand, it will become less surprising."

Well, the conversation would become meaningless if Satou questioned everything, even if he didn't believe what Yukimura was saying.

"So you are four hundred years in your future? And this doesn't upset you?"

Yukimura thought about that a moment. "Upset, not particularly. The history that I remember is not that which is recorded in your recountings of what happened. History was restored to what it was foreseen to be. That was our goal. That my life continues past when I left must mean that there is some way back, I should think. For that reason, I believe at some point, I will return."

"Very philosophical," Satou observed. "If you did not return, then our past would be different. Unless you're from one of those other worlds, and in that world events will happen differently because you're here instead."

Yukimura laughed a little. "I suppose that's possible. But, Migeira told us that if we succeeded, only the proper course of history would be remembered, so, regardless whether what I remembered happened in this world or not, the proper course of history is remembered, therefore, we succeeded." He smiled. "Ah, this sounds like a convenient story, doesn't it?"

"The stories I'm hearing here are pretty strange," Satou admitted. "So either people here are very much crazy or on good drugs, I'm crazier than I thought or on better drugs than I remember, something strange is going on, or a combination of the above."

Yukimura smiled. "I think it is more that something strange is going on here. Unless they are putting drugs in the sake," he laughed, dismissing that theory as foolish. "Though, since I found myself here before I drank their sake, I would think it something strange happening here." Though, he wouldn't put it past the Mibu to try something like this. That he hadn't been attacked, save for Karasu, he didn't quite believe that.

"A conspiracy?" he asked hoarsely, looking anxious.

To Satou, of course, everything was a conspiracy.

"How much do you know?"

Yukimura raised an eyebrow. "About...a conspiracy? I suppose it depends on if we are speaking of the same one..." Which, at this point, he wasn't quite convinced.

"If people are here from so many places and times, someone or something must be bringing them here. And there must be some reason. So it's a conspiracy, but what is it for?"

Yukimura considered for a long moment. "I do not know, however it does not seem related to those conspiracies that I am aware of." To admit so much would have him in serious trouble in some circles, though they'd be nothing new in others.

"It must be something bigger," Satou said, brow furrowing. "An immense conspiracy, if it can travel through time and dimensions! A conspiracy of multiple world proportions!"

Yukimura blinked and laughed. "I doubt there could be a bigger conspiracy than that which I've found myself entangled."

"You're in a conspiracy bigger than snatching people from all over time and space?"

That would be quite some conspiracy.

Yukimura laughed. "Not by choice, but unfortunately."

"That's the nature of conspiracies. They trap you."

"Ah, this one I came upon by ambition," Yukimura countered. "I wished for the Sanada clan to rule Japan."

"You're a conspirator, then," Satou said accusingly.

"A conspirator?" Yukimura repeated thoughtfully. Sasuke would say so. Kyo would say so. Yuya and Benitora would say so. "Yes," he said cheerfully, "I suppose I would be."

Satou pulled away warily. "How many innocent people have you destroyed?"

Yukimura looked at the boy and frowned. "Innocent? I'm not sure whether those who go to war can be considered innocent. And destroyed? Those with whom I am traveling have not been destroyed, nor will they be."

"Then how is it a conspiracy?"

Satou had certain preconcieved notions.

"I use one of my companions to further my own desires. I have deceived one of my most loyal followers in order to obtain a weapon, to get inside the stonghold of those who rule Japan from the shadows. I withhold information for the purpose of steering those with me along the paths that will lead to my enemy's undoing. Is this not a conspiracy?"
