Closed RP: Matt and Mello Do London

Of all the suggestions to get over a series of bad nightmares, stealing some motorbikes and going joyriding through London with Mello is probably Matt's favourite.

Once the sun is up, he goes for a shower, grabs a spare pair of goggles, and heads down to the Great Hall for some coffee and to meet Mello.

This is gonna be fun.

After finally convincing the house elves I really did want them to give me just hot milk and cream to make my own damn hot chocolate, I was enjoying sipping the drink, dressed, with a jacket on the bench by me. Near hadn't look terribly thrilled when I told him where we were going, but he didn't say anything. I don't think I really gave him a chance. I think I needed this as badly as Matt did. Screaming was starting to become too desirable on waking.

"Hey, food first or go and eat there?" I ask when Matt comes in.

"I guess we could grab a McDonald's or something. I really need coffee, though."

Coffee plus the ridiculous amounts of nicotine he's consumed within about two hours means he's probably going to be so ill later on, but whatever.

"Have at. Though, I think they hid the sugar." It's been a while since junk food for breakfast. I'm itching to be gone already, but coffee is reasonable.

He gets a mug from a passing house-elf, and filches a couple of slices of toast, too.

"Here," he says, tossing Mello the goggles. "Found you these. I though sunglasses were more your thing, though."

I catch the goggles. "Didn't think you'd have any. And, I can get some in London if I really want." I finish my hot chocolate. I've got a couple of bars in my pocket and a couple more in the jacket. I should be good, I think. If not, we can always stop and get more.

"Any place specific you wanna see or just take a circuit on the M-40?"

"A circuit should be fine. How does this sound: we find bikes in the city centre, make our way out to the M40, and do a full circuit before dumping the bikes and coming back?"

Speeding through the city's gotta be the best part, after all.

I grin. "Attention seeking, too? Let's see if they can catch us!" I laugh. This is gonna be such a rush!

"Hell yes." Matt grins in return, already feeling much better. He finishes his coffee and shoves his hands into his pockets.

"Ready?"

I snort. "I've been waiting on your lazy ass." I grab up the jacket and shrug it on. "Let's go!" I shove the goggles in my pockets and wait for him to lead the way, since he knows how to get where we're going. I grin at him. "We need to find a biker bar, too. Have them after us, too."

Matt laughs. "You're not going to be satisfied until the whole of London's on our tail, are you?" He leads them out of the Great Hall and into the closest side room with a lit fire. "I think I'd look pretty out of place at a biker bar."

At least Mello is in leather.

I roll my eyes. "You're the one who insists on the prison look." I know he told me about the fires, and they're in the books I read, but this is the first time I've used them. Under the teasing, I'm watching closely. "Though, y'know, it's a good look for a biker bitch"

"My look is 'biker bitch'?" Matt laughs. "You wish."

There's a little pot of Floo Powder on the mantlepiece. Matt grabs it and hands it to Mello. "You throw a pinch into the fire, say where you wanna go, and then step into the flames."

"After you," I say, waving him ahead. I'm not in the least bit anxious about this. Not in the least. I'm just going to make sure we go to the same place.

Matt shrugs and tosses some of the powder into the fire. "London city centre!"

Pretty vague, but hopefully they'll still wind up coming out of the same fireplace.

If you say so... "London city centre!" I call out, mimicking his actions.

It's disorienting, spinning, and brightly horrifically green. A shade of green that would never ever exist in nature.

With something like a push, I find myself stumbling out of a fireplace.

Matt's brushing off soot from his jeans; luckily, he moved away slightly before Mello comes firing out of the fireplace.

They're in a dingy pub somewhere. The patrons look completely unfazed by their arrival.

"You okay?"

I brush off my pants and jacket. There's probably soot in my hair, too, so I shake it out. "Yeah!" It's kinda a rush, in a weird way. I check my pockets and everything seems intact. "Let's grab a bite and look at a map just to be sure where we are in relation to everything and then have some fun." I grin. It's almost...like being alive again.

"Sure." They wander out of the pub, and into London. Matt generally isn't all that fond of these bustling urban centres, generally, but they have something to look forward to. And Mello's with him. So he can deal.

There is, of course, a junk-food outlet of choice within five minutes' walk. Awesome.

Being in Chicago got me used to being in crowds. I don't like them, but I can deal with them. But, London has a totally different feel. It feels...more relaxed, less crowded. And though Wammy's house was near here, we never got out. Near being a relative term, of course. Compared to the States, everything was near in England. I take a deep breath in and cough with the smells of the city. But, it's great. "Hey, you remember where abouts the biker's hang?"

"You say that as though I knew in the first place," Matt says, holding open the door to McDonald's for Mello.

"Remember we used to say we'd run off to London one day? Sneak out one weekend when we should have been studying..." he grins.

I roll my eyes at him as I pass. "Yeah, I remember. We were gonna go to the Tower of London and reenact the executions with manikins and then climb up the outside of Big Ben before they caught us and locked us up." I laughed. I stare at the menu. "You're paying, right?" Before he can answer, I add, "Let's try south west, just because."

"Sure, I'll pay. I've been getting some money in."

Hurray for having the internet again!

He grins, ordering them both some large junk-food breakfasts. "It totally could have worked, too. I was thinking about it this morning - our plans were pretty watertight, considering we were ten and eleven."

I laugh more. "Including the 'oh, look at the poor orphans' act." I shake my head. "I wonder who would have caught us first. Roger or the cops?"

I grab one of the two trays and lead him to the back of the restaurant. "It would have been a blast. It's almost a little bit of a disappointment that'll only be the cops after us today."

"The cops. Roger never caught me at any of the stuff I wasn't supposed to be doing."

Of course, he'd never been as blatant about it as Mello.

Matt snickers. "You really do want half of London coming after us, don't you?"

I grin. "That's half the fun, isn't it? With something like this, anyways. Now, if I were going to hack, then I wouldn't want anyone knowing it was me." Not that I ever did...no, never...that's not how I got all the information to do B's case study.

I stretch. "Man, I can't wait to get an iron horse between my legs!"
