Hogwarts and all its magic was good, but it compared little to actual flesh and blood. And what a delightful surprise, there was someone who was rather eager to kill.

Beyond and Johnny C had planned to go into town and murder people. With a broomstick flight as well.

It was close to midnight when Beyond stood on the outskirts of Hogwarts, trying to determine exactly where the no-kill rule ended.

Difficult, perhaps, but he managed to carve 'verrues de porc' in the chest. He liked leaving clues, but they would have to find a French speaker, and even then, unless they knew about the magical world, 'Warts of pig'-the closest he could translate 'Hogwarts'-would not mean anything.

He broke the salt cellar and began driving the pieces of glass under his nails.

Nny was being more basic; he'd moved on to peeling the skin off the man's back, whistling as he did so.

"We could set him on fire," he said idly.

No, he didn't know about Beyond's history with fire.

Didn't matter. The idea was good, but...

"And waste such beautiful flames on a dead person? No, if we are to burn someone, it must be a living one. The screams...so beautiful." He should know, he's made screams of his own.

"We can find someone, if you like. Cap off the evening with something shiny." He grinned widely at that. Explosions were more his usual style than flames, but variety was good.

"Perfect."

He dug around behind the bar, confiscating two lighters and two bottles of vodka, just in case one broke.

Nny touched a finger to his lips in a self-mocking sssh-ing gesture as he tiptoed out the door, looking around for any stragglers.

Beyond smiled and held the bottles, looking as well. He could see people, but they were all the way out in the lights. If one could be drawn into here...

Nny was not so dainty. Why wait, after all? He flung another knife, burying it in the knee of a woman who just hadn't left the area fast enough.

"There. No running away."

Well, if Johnny was so eager, why should Beyond deny him?

Beyond popped open the bottle of vodka, letting it get all over the corpse to be, while tossing Nny a lighter.

Oh yes, this would be fun. It was already, of course.

The woman was struggling feebly; she'd been very drunk, not to have been running before the thrown knife had caught her. Which to Nny's mind meant she'd had it coming.

He flicked the lighter, touching the flame to her vodka-drenched sleeve, and grinned broadly. Polyester burned nicely.

Beyond stepped back to avoid getting burned. He closed his eyes as he savored the screams the poor creature gave as she burned.

Still, he had a knife at the ready. People CAN survive being burned alive, he's proof of that.

She burned a long time, and the firelight gleamed in Nny's eyes as he watched her scream and struggle, and lie still and gurgle, and eventually just lie still and smolder.

All good things must come to an end.

Still and smouldering she may be, Beyond wasn't taking any chances. He struck down, nearly decapitating the woman's head, certainly striking her jugular.

"Just in case," he said to Nny. "We don't want any witnesses, now do we?"

"I've never had a problem with witnesses." Nny shrugged, smiling. "People don't tend to get believed when they try to talk about me. But don't let that cut into your fun."

"We should all be so lucky." He picked the knife up and wiped it on his shirt, tucking it back behind him. Then he stretched his arms and looked around at the beautiful bloodbath they created.

"Maybe next time we should get take-out. I have a hut just off campus. I keep all sorts of toys there."

"Sounds fun. We can make a game of it-how long can the delivery boy live under torture."

"A very long time," Nny said happily. "I can make them last a very long time."
