As it appeared that a few of our happy couples are having some second thoughts about their nuptials, I took the liberty of sending an owl to the Ministry of Magic, requesting information regarding anullments. Of course, the very subject makes me a terribly sad hat!
However, I do have an answer, for at least some of you. For those of you who were married either under duress, or in a state of unconsciousness, the Ministry will grant an annulment if you take the following steps:
1. You must not have consummated your marriage.
2. One of you must have either objected to the wedding before it was performed, or been unconscious and unable to object. The Ministry knows whether or not this was the case.
3. You must send an owl with a simple Petition for Annulment to the Ministry. The Petition must be witnessed by at least one person who was not a party to the marriage, nor related to either of you.
4. There is a three day waiting period. At the end of three days, you will receive a certificate of annulment and be free and clear of the marriage.
