Dear everyone,

I am alive having finally found my way out of the labyrynthyne dungeons that make up about ninety percent of this place and am happy to report that exsept for being slightly scuffed I am none the worse for wear. also, I'm not crazy. I jsut got lost.

I hope you have been managing under Bun-Bun okay, any compliants can be directed to George Weasley.

As many pompous assholes before me have said, the show must go on and so it must. we'll be ready with a new stage design in two weeks. Go Team.

My name is Geoffrey Tennant, originally of the Theatre Sans Argent in Montreal, now residing at Howarts. I'm directing A Midsummer Night's Dream here, a show which I'm told you have some familiarity with?

We're in rehearsals right now, but I'm always open to change. Theatre is nothing if not dynamic. If you're interested, let me know. I'd love to have someone with some experience around here.

Geoffrey had no idea who Tomo was talking about. It wasn't just from the bad description, although she hadn't exactly made it very clear for him; but the truth was that he also didn't really know anyone except Ellen and Molly particularly well, and having a few screws loose and having wandered around in a basement for a month hadn't really helped him keep track.

He figured he had to tell her something, though.

Um, while you were gone, we got a new student who's a) sane and b) actually has done the Dream and wanted to get involved somehow. Haven't been able to get a hold of Bun-Bun yet, but is it okay if he helps with backstage, lighting, whatever? His name's Neil Perry and he's in Gryffindor, if that helps.

Hi! This is Kelly Kapoor! I'm sorry to hear that you got scuffed up! That totally ruins shoes. Like, I had the BEST pair of strappy blue slingbacks, and they totally got scuffed up at last year's Halloween party.

It was one of the worst things ever.

Anyway! My lines are all 100% memorized, and I've been practicing my blocking! This is totally going to be the best play ever!

Oh, good, someone was coming to his rescue. Normally Geoffrey would resent the very idea, partly because he was a naturally independent person and partly because he still had some pretty vivid memories of needing his meat cut for him, but he'd been wandering around for a good solid month now and really, he would just like to go the hell home and see his wife, his bed, and maybe the bottom of a glass or two.

In other words, thank Christ for Stephanie Brown, and he would have to adjust the lighting design to make sure she could be seen more on stage.

Grabbing her wand and ultra-stylish utility belt (in case Trouble was Afoot!), Steph hightailed it to the Owlery, expecting to see Fraser...communing with the Owls, or something.

Instead, he was just kind of sitting there. Understandable! It was probably a stressful day.

"Hey," she waved, walking into the smelly-as-heck alcove. "Ready to get out of here?"

Geoffrey, who contrary to semi-popular belief was not in fact Fraser (and had never met the man, though he had been told about him by Ellen and was fairly surprised to know there was a lookalike roaming around), was indeed just sitting there. Given the number of owl messages he'd been sending and receiving, and the fact that he still had absolutely no idea where the hell he was supposed to be, it had seemed like the right thing to do.

He'd whiled away the time by drawing on pieces of scrap paper, alternating between his new Steph-tastic production design and some rather evil-looking doodles. One of the figures in the picture on top appeared to be holding a sword...

When Stephanie came in, he looked up from this latest masterpiece and smiled gratefully. "Yeah. Thanks." He hesitated over the drawings, then blew quickly on them and stuffed them into one of the many pockets of his enormous black coat.

Man. Fraser was really going for the hobo look. "Come on, we're only about five minutes away from the Gryffindor common room." He could get himself a change of clothes! ...And maybe a haircut. There was undercover, and then there was escaped-mental-patient hair.

"So," she said, ignoring the fact that there was still an unpleasent smell in the air, despite being outside of the owlery, "how did you get yourself lost for a month in one building? Who does that?"

See how tactful she was? Didn't mention the smell at all!

Geoffrey raised a brow at her. He thought they weren't talking about the part where he was maybe kind of hopelessly crazy. He just wanted to go home and get cleaned up and hopefully see his wife who hopefully had not abandoned him again yet. "I do, apparently," he in a voice thick with irony.

He shuffled along behind her, hands alternately deep in his pockets or folded across his chest, lost in thoughts of a nice bath, a warm room, and Ellen, sitting just a few minutes away in... Wait. He stopped, frowning. "Are you sure we're going the right way?"

Irony? One of the concepts Steph had yet to grasp. "See, my first two weeks here, I lurked around, mapping things out." That had been a very tiring two weeks. But Fraser would undoubtedly appreciate the need for a reliable map! "I didn't want to ask the house elves for directions, because I was about eighty percent convinced they were evil mutant dictators. It was the ears that sold it."

...Steph left out the part where she had once thought Hogwarts might have been a hell dimension. Even though that was a completely viable option, in her world.

She paused, looking from side to side. "I'm positive. Gryffindor's my house, too. I can get to it with my eyes closed." Maybe this was some kind of code? "Unless there's somewhere else you think you belong?"

Haha! Steph could code-talk, too.

Geoffrey was not without guile, but all of Steph's code-talking went right over his head. After all, he had no idea she thought he was an overly-earnest Mountie on an extremely involved undercover operation. "I'm not sure..." He frowned, chewing on his lip. "Are you sure Gryffindor's the right place? I think it was something else..." He ducked his head, running his fingers through his shaggy and kind of dirty curls.

It was really pretty frustrating. He could navigate the incredibly intricate underground network of hallways that lay beneath the Rose theater with no problem; he could sprint from one end of the grounds to the other without pause (and had). He could probably do it with his eyes closed! It wasn't like he was particularly bad at directions of the non-stage variety. But this place just... tripped him up.

It was probably those Goddamn moving staircases.

Also, the ghosts.

"Something with an R?" he ventured after a moment's hard thought, looking up uncertainly. "Maybe?"

Aaah. So he was hiding out in another house. Completely understandable! Everyone in Gryffindor would recognize him.

...well, okay, not everyone. Fraser didn't seem to have all that many friends, which Steph didn't understand. He was so personable, when he wasn't dressed like a...Geoffrey!

"Do you mean Ravenclaw?"

Unless...was he making an allusion towards Steph's former secret identity? She hoped not! Steph would certainly have donned the Girl Wonder costume if it was an emergency, but she preferred her Spoiler get-up. Better color scheme.

Of course, if Steph took a moment to actually think about that she would realize that not only did Geoffrey have no idea about her former secret identity, but Fraser had no idea about her former secret identity. And also that they weren't the same person. And that Geoffrey didn't realize she thought they were.

Really, there were a lot of things here that she probably should have thought about.

Geoffrey, on the other hand, was thinking about nothing more than going the hell home so he could get cleaned up and... well, probably go right back to work. At Stephanie's guess, he lit up triumphantly. "Ravenclaw!" He snapped his fingers and nodded. "That's the ticket. God, what's with the names in this place, anyway? That's a ridiculous name."

"Although," he added, spinning around to head in the direction from which they'd come, "I guess it's hardly any worse than Sir Toby Belch."

Oh, there were tons of things Steph had thought about. Like where Fraser'd gotten such a realistic wig. And if Ray and Bob were in on all of this. And who was feeding Dief while Fraser was undercover, and why there was a giant lobster in the production (not that there was anything wrong with being a giant lobster), and if she'd gotten her part based on her own merits or because someone was needed on The Inside.

Also, on a play-specific note, she was wondering how her projection was coming along, and if George was as okay with her kissing another boy (in-character!) as he pretended. But that was not Relevant to the present situation.

"Ravenclaw it is! Sorry about the mix-up." She walked along, shrugging. "I guess you can't expect that much from a school named after a skin condition."

She...wasn't going to ask what a Sir Toby Belch was. It did not sound pleasant. And anyway, they were nearly at 'Geoffrey's dorm. "You're in luck, because I'm pretty sure they keep the door to Ravenclaw open at all hours. Too many alcoholics for people to try and remember weekly passwords." She paused, gesturing to said propped open door. "Here we go!"

"Thank God for drunks," Geoffrey declared. "What would I do without them?" Most of his actors were drunks. His neighbors were all drunks, apparently. Hell, he was kind of a drunk, except for his stint in That Place Where They Would Not Let Him Drink. Normal life was hard when you lived most of it on a stage (or in your own head).

"And you," he added graciously to Steph, because now he was in an excellent mood. "My hero. Thank you. And now, if you don't mind, I'm going to go and get the stink of Denmark off." He made a little bow to her and stepped through the door.

Thank you so much for contacting me! I love theatre and have a special fondness for A Midsummer Night's Dream (I played Puck at a local theatre near my school this past December). I understand that I missed auditions, but I would be thrilled to assist with the production in anyway, backstage or possibly understudying or anything you want me to do.

You actually played Puck? it's a Christmas Miracle You're hired. You can understudy for our current Robin. Maybe we'll get lucky and she'll rehearsing with you might be helpful for her I think.

be at rehearsal tomorrow @ 5. Dont worry about coming in late, you'll be miles ahead of half the cast anyway.
