Freshly sorted, Miles made his way to the owlery.
Susan,
I got sorted into Slytherin. I've also attempted a bit of recruiting here and there, although I haven't been successful at finding people who have enthusiasm for evil clown hunting. When can we meet next to share drinks and strategize?
Miles
P.S. I really don't know how well I'm going to like communicating via owl. It seems a slow, cumbersome way to communicate, as well as being fairly non-secure.
Hello,
Are you still up for a drink and a chance to talk shop? I was sorted into Slytherin, so we could just meet in the common room. Also, I don't believe I actually caught your name during my sorting, but one of the house elves eventually supplied it. Hopefully, it didn't name the wrong person, or I'm really going to be embarrassed.
Yours,
Miles Vorkosigan
Dr. Cox,
My name is Miles Vorkosigan, and I was recently sorted into Slytherin. During my sorting, it was suggested that I contact you as you are apparently an actual medic here, and not just a fan of daytime soap operas. I have a medical condition that renders my bones brittle, and was told there might be something the medics here could do to stabilize them. I was also told to ask for you specifically, and I hope at some point you can work in a bit of time to meet with me.
Thanks in advance.

"My career took place 80 years ago, on this world, mainly in Russia, which is at the northerly end of this continent. And you...are from another world, if I understood you correctly?"

Date: 2007-06-05 02:09 am (UTC)"Russia, huh? That is really interesting, because if I understand my Barrayaran history correctly, a lot of our original settlers were from that part of Earth." He quirked a grin. "I mean, my mother's bodyguard was a Ludmila Droushnakovi." He named off the year, which was considerably distant in the future. "At the moment we're not exactly at war, although the galaxy isn't exactly a bastian of stability... ever."

They're very scientifically-minded there, and are definitely the most technologically advanced. Then we have Barrayar, which has been fairly isolated lately, at least until the Cetagandans invaded. That was during my grandfather's time, and now we're kind of at uneasy peace with them. And then there's Jackson's Whole, which operates on a lassez-faire system of polits gone horribly, horribly awry."
