Late, very, very late thanks to sitting in the sauna, playing in Hogsmeade with Faith and her lovely walk by the lake with Emma, Ginny ran to Professor Dumbledore's office for her first lesson. She'd brought every Defense Against the Dark Arts book her could gather, including some her parents had sent her, and one totally in hieroglphyics she'd received from Bill. She hoped Professor Dumbledore wouldn't be too angry with her for being so late.
*knocks on the door*
Professor Dumbledore? I'm here for lessons. May I come in please?

Date: 2006-02-14 01:32 am (UTC)I wasn't exactly detained this time. Just got too busy visiting people. I've made a few new friends since we met the other day. I think you're really like them. Oh, and I had to go to religious services, of course. I hope you'll come to those sometime, Professor. They're very uplifting.

Oh, Harry did. A little. And, um, I think I know what it feels like, sort of, if it's like he described.

Date: 2006-02-14 01:49 am (UTC)Well, he said it hurt every time Voldemort did it. But sometimes it's just a creepy feeling, like someone's watching you too closely. And he said Voldemort could both see what was going on in his mind, and put stuff there.
*takes the tea cup; but warned by Tom, doesn't drink, just fidgets with it*

Date: 2006-02-14 02:12 am (UTC)I trust you, Professor. I have to learn this. And you're going to teach me how to keep someone from doing it to me, as well? I know Professor Snape's supposed to do that, but I don't really trust him, and the note he owled didn't sound much like he wanted me to learn anything.
*looks down at her now barely lukewarm tea* Um, yes, please. Thank you. *maybe she can have a sip or two; Tom has to be wrong about Dumbledore slipping something into the tea*

Date: 2006-02-14 02:41 am (UTC)I'm glad you'll be teaching me. I was going to owl Sn- I mean, Professor Snape, once I'd had a lesson with you, but I thought it might be best if we started before I saw much of anyone, who might, well, try something with me, again.
Thank you, Professor. *takes the sugar cubes and drops them in her tea* Is that what you're drinking? *throws caution to the wind and takes a nice sip* It is very good.

All right. That sounds like it would be okay. I'm sure whatever you have planned is best. I suppose it would be good for no one to know exactly what you are teaching me. Except, what do I do if someone tries something on me before I've finished all the lessons? I won't know how to protect myself!
*sips the tea some more, now trusting Dumbledore about it, rather than Tom; as usual, the more she's with whoever she is with, the more she's under their sway*

Date: 2006-02-14 04:33 am (UTC)I think I understand Professor. It sounds like it's not like watching Muggle movies, but more like looking in someone's mind and getting little pictures and sounds and things, like seeing part of a movie and having to make up the rest yourself?

Date: 2006-02-14 05:05 am (UTC)Not meditation, exactly. But chanting is part of my religion. It's very relaxing and sort of frees your mind and makes it open to Cthulhu, so I guess that's a little like meditation.

Date: 2006-02-14 08:31 am (UTC)*finally, she sees something and it's just a wonderful, happy vision that she'd like to linger there, getting lost in it, but it's too hard and she can't hold on to it*
Oh, Professor, that was so nice! I'm not sure who it was, but there was a little boy playing with a sort of dog, well, the dog was only sort of nice, it had three heads, but still it was fun. Who was that? Did I do all right? It didn't last very long.

Date: 2006-02-14 04:26 pm (UTC)*nodding and smiling* I'm ready. Does it have to be really bad, though? I know not all memories are happy ones, but, well, I'd rather not have anything to bad, if it can be helped.

Date: 2006-02-16 01:22 am (UTC)All right, Professor. I understand. Shall I try again now?
*concentrates even harder, and this time knows what it's supposed to feel like, so she's on the right track*

Date: 2006-02-16 07:22 am (UTC)*nice, familiar Professor Dumbledore, at school*
*and Tom, looking just the same as he does now, but then ... oh, it's awful! Poor beautiful creature! And she can feel Dumbledore's certainty like it was her own. She's not shocked, either. She knows Tom is capable of so much more than this*
*but the occlumency is a surprise, and a scary one, at that and then sadness and uncertainty and ...*
*didn't enjoy this round at all! and finds herself angry at Tom and Dumbledore, both*
"But Professor, he might have ... he could have been so different! I know you felt it was right, but ..."
*feels kind of sick right now; wonders what would happen if someone had given Tom ... something, but just can't bring herself to tell Dumbledore she thinks he was wrong*
