All right, Silas was used to massive cathedrals and the rambling corridors of the Opus Dei center in New York, but Hogwarts dwarfed them all in both size and sheer confusion. He'd found Ravenclaw all right, the night before, but now that he was attemtping to go anywhere else, he found himself hopelessly lost in a corridor that looked, well, like all the other corridors he'd seen. The paintings moved, and spoke, and Silas was beginning to think that if he hadn't been crazy before, he was well on the way there now.

He'd met no one so far, for which he was almost grateful--as bizarrely kind as many people had been here, he still hadn't begun to wrap his mind around just what sort of place he'd landed in. Sooner or later he had to run into someone, though, if only so they could tell him where he was, and at least try to point him back to familiar ground.

This place needs a chapel, he thought. Likely it already had one, but yet again he had to actually find it.

((Come poke/torment/see the crazy monk man))

"Ah. 'Here' is what used to be one of the classroom sections of the castle, one that's not used much anymore. We're not far from the Care of Magical Creatures professor's office, I just came from there. I thought - well, I though Afin might've gone there, for a lot of reasons."

She frowned, but forced her expression back to polite neutrality.

"Was there someplace in particular you wanted to find? Like the Great Hall, or the library maybe? I could lead you there, and keep an eye out for Afin at the same time. At this point I might as well just look in random spots, logic's getting me nowhere."

Laura was going to be hard-pressed to find Afin. The potion that Grant had taken earlier was slowly wearing off, and what little sense he'd originally had returned as well.

While Laura was talking to Silas, the temporarily young man sidled up to her. "Looking for somebody?" he asked.

Laura first gaped, then beamed, then grinned slyly at the handsome young man with a familiar kitten in his hands.

"Well, here's one of my escapees accounted for. You wouldn't happen to have seen the world's most adorable three-year-old scamp running around with that kittycat, would you?"

"No, I haven't," he replied, slightly chagrined. He hefted the cat and tucked her into the crook of his arm. "I think she might have eaten him."

The kitten let out an indignant mew at being jostled. Grant stroked her fur to calm her down. "If I had to guess, though, I'd say that they're both probably pretty hungry."

Laura smiled at the tall man, relief written all over her face. "I'm sure he's fine. Wherever the cat is, he's not going to be far behind. And so far from eating him, she'd probably take a bite out of anyone or anything that threatened him. Do you mind if we take her home? I hate to just abandon you. Home's Ravenclaw, if that's on your way."

Laura glanced at Grant to check. "Don't mind a bit. We'll drop you at the Common Room."

"It does, but I'm not sure I can explain how it happens," she said as they walked. "First you get down a few good landmarks, like the Great Hall or the library or your House entrance. Then at some point you realize you're not struggling to find other things anymore. It's almost like once you and this place get used to each other, the castle starts working with you."

"It kind of feels that way," she said. "Or at least like it's not actively trying to get in your way. I've never been on the roof - in the Astronomy Tower, but not the roof itself. The view up there is amazing, especially at sunrise."
