Mistoffelees opened his eyes and found that he was smiling. For some reason. He couldn't quite figure out why at first, his memory was pleasantly blurry, but then he noticed who was lying beside him, and his smile grew into a full-blown stupid grin. Oh yeah. He remembered now.

He propped up his head comfortably, lying on his side and letting his eyes trace every one of her features, and he felt a strange sort of... warmth in his chest. It wasn't supposed to be there, but yes, there it was. And there she was. All warm and soft and in bed with him. He remembered how her body felt against his, and that damn nearly made him purr. It wasn't smugness. It wasn't triumph. It was something else entirely.
Almost absentmindedly he reached out and caressed her shoulder, affectionately, to see if she was really there. That she wasn't just some sort of illusion, and that he was really all alone. His hand slid down her arm all the way to the elbow and then up again, almost surprised at himself just because of how good it felt to touch her.
