Sally's few bags of personal belongings were put away immediately after she was sorted. She did not feel comfortable enough to start exploring the castle yet and reminded herself that she had a nice scarf to knit.
She sat herself on a chair that was too big for her next to a fire that was too bright. Sally knew she shouldn't complain though. These were just trivial things that would become better with time.
Out of a small bag by her feet, Sally pulled out a roll of red yarn and two needles. The knitting had begun.
((Waaaay backdated to after her sorting. Bother please?))

Date: 2006-11-17 09:11 pm (UTC)He set his tricorder on a spare table and backed up a few paces, focusing and searching for that tumbling feeling when the magic gave in and allowed itself to be directed.
"Accio tricorder."
It flew off the table and landed on the floor near the leg of a chair. Unfortunately, that chair happened to be significantly to Data's left; still, it had moved, and with less effort than he'd needed previously.
Data went to retrive the tricorder and noticed that the young woman from earlier was sitting there. "Excuse me," he said, bending down and picking it up. "I did not mean to bother you."

"Accio tricorder."
This time it came towards him; however, it landed a few feet short.
"As you can see, I am not very experienced."

Date: 2006-11-20 09:24 pm (UTC)How ironic that as supportive as Sally could be for Data, she was too afraid to try it herself. "Oh no, not yet."

Date: 2006-11-20 09:33 pm (UTC)((....aaaaaand I just realized how that sounds out of context. Can't think of another way to say it, though))

Date: 2006-11-20 09:52 pm (UTC)"I..." Sally frowned and started to play with her stitches now. She knew it was unavoidable. She came to the school to be with Jack, but the downside - she had to learn magic too. Sally couldn't walk around it forever. There'd be too much guilt. "I, I guess, but I've never - I don't know what to do."

Date: 2006-11-20 10:01 pm (UTC)"The first charm I attempted was the Levitation Charm. It is performed by envisioning the item you wish to levitate rising in the air, while saying the spell - Wingardium Leviosa - with this gesture." He gave a swish and flick that would do Flitwick proud and the ball of yarn she was using rose in the air briefly, settling back down at his gesture.
"Will you try it?" he said, offering the wand to her again. "I was able to perform it, albeit wekaly, without any belief in my own magical abilities. It is likely you will be able to as well."

Date: 2006-11-20 10:14 pm (UTC)The ball of yarn wiggled a bit and rose two inches into the air before falling back down. Sally dropped the wand in surprise of what she had done. "Sorry!"

Date: 2006-11-18 05:51 pm (UTC)and alive. There was no harm in a small knitting break."I'm new," Sally responded and shook the hand briefly. "Sally. You were studying?" She gestured toward the books by Janet's side. It reminded her of Jack's obsession with the concept of Christmas. He was literally drowning in the books he found on the subject.

Date: 2006-11-20 08:55 pm (UTC)She dared to giggle at Janet's useless statement. "It comes natural," Sally replied, putting down the scarf and holding up her hands in its place. The stitches were very visible. "Do you use a machine?"
