The cheeseburger was a work of beauty. The bun was toasted to a golden brown on the inside, but still light, fluffy, and warm on the top. Ketchup and mustard were drizzled over the bread. Thick slices of tomato, crisp onion rings, and fresh, still slightly damp leaves of lettuce provided crunch. Two slices of cheese melted over a grilled beef patty. A basket of french fries served as a compliment to the perfect sandwich.

The smell of the beef was making Grant's mouth water, and Dog was showing more interest in the food than was healthy for the burger. He swatted her away from the plate, and he hoped that Laura showed up at his room soon, or her was going ot eat the damn thing himself.

By the time we met her, she was already yours. Galahad's green eyes softened with affection.

We have our ups and downs as beings of all sorts do. But I have never heard of such a poison tainting a clan as what happened to her. Of course, her sire did have help in thinking to do such things. I've never heard of anything like his situation either.

The house-elf arrived and set out a bowl of raw steak and two bowls of diced chicken. Galahad's nose twitched. A lot of food for just Dog, isn't it?

It doesn't take long to know where home is, once you find who you belong with. Is it not so for two-legs as well?

Galahad nodded. When she met with that wizard, the tall one with the staff, she asked many questions. They think BOB may have been trying to cast a spell of the wizard's kind of magic the night she died. The wizard fears something worse of it than he liked to let on to her.

He nosed at a bowl of chicken. Mmmm. You have good meats on your world, I'll give you that. Now we see if Dog will join us.

Some of our fish and plants have to be heated before they're safe to eat. Others are better raw. Celery, for instance. He dug in to the bowl of chicken, and sent a quick thought to Dog. Mmmmm. Goooooood chicken...

You think. That is you two-legs' problem. Thinking isn't needed for such matters. Only feeling is.

I know that all too well. It is how I lived, before my human found me. But when you find someone who's to be part of your family, do you not know it right away?

And just how well have you "gotten to know" my human, Alan Grant?

Would you not ask it of someone mating with one of your clan? Especially one as scarred as my two-legs? They both looked over at Laura, who had gotten to her feet.

Galahad turned back to his food, and sent vibes of comfort and welcome to Dog.

Laura settled herself on the bed with a happy sigh. "So much better. I am just not made for crawling around on the floor." She smiled at Grant's approach. "Hey, you. Wanna join me?"

Galahad gave Dog an affectionate lick on the nose, earning a surprised chirp from the kitten, and moved over to the water bowl. I am whatever she needs me to be for her, he sent to Grant in reply.
