(OOC: Sort of back! On dialup, so may be slow, but back nevertheless.)
Mel finally comes downstairs after being holed up in her dorm trying to get past chapter two of The Angel Handbook.
(She failed.)
She feels a bit drained, and a bit wobbly, so she stops outside the Gryffindor common room for a rest.
The sight of her new top is slowly cheering her up, though.

Inspiration! 'The Doctor said something about the chocolates...did they make you 18?'

Date: 2006-07-26 10:50 pm (UTC)'I haven't met Rose yet.' she confesses. 'I s'pose I'm wary of making new friends because...I'm not very good at it.'
(It's because everyone says 'Be Yourself.', but who IS Mel Beeby really?)

Date: 2006-07-26 10:59 pm (UTC)Jack's never had a problem making friends of any sort. "You aren't? Fooled me." Jack smiled, the sort of smile that made people feel special.

Date: 2006-07-26 11:03 pm (UTC)'Cool! He should brighten up the common room,' she grins. 'That smile of his is like a damn light.'
It's said happily, because JD always seems cheerful to her.
But Jack's smile is perhaps even better, if he hadn't added the 'fooled me!' part. She knows it's just a term of endearment, but she thinks she did enough fooling for thirteen years on planet Earth.
'What house was he in before?' she asks, shaking off the slightly nasty thought.

Date: 2006-07-26 11:10 pm (UTC)"I'm rescuing him from Hufflepuff." Jack grinned. "I'm considering throwing him a welcome party. He'd love that." Jack sounds very happy talking about JD, "Oh but it would be a suprise, he'd get
evenall cute if got a suprise party." And there would definitely be advantages for me... This doesn't sound half bad.no subject
Date: 2006-07-26 11:13 pm (UTC)'You must! It's been ages since I've been to a party I didn't get called out of in the middle for a mission. If he loves it, go f'rit! Where would you hold it?'
Now you've got her started.

'How 'bout yourself?'

Date: 2006-07-26 10:59 pm (UTC)She looks slightly sad that she hasn't tried as much as she should have to get to know people.
'Wait, fried ice-cream? You sure it's not gonna block up your arteries?,' she giggles. What's being a teen for if not for frying things that shouldn't be fried?
She blinks. 'But I have to say, I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition to be in a conversation.'

Date: 2006-07-26 11:03 pm (UTC)He grins. "I was tellin' them how I had to borrow stuff from my sister in order to torture witches into confessin'. But it was really more like an English Inquisition 'cause we're patriotic."
no subject
Date: 2006-07-26 11:06 pm (UTC)'How'd you make witches confess, then?' she laughs. 'Ask them to recite the whole National Anthem, and if they do they're either a witch or have far too much time on their hands?'

Date: 2006-07-26 11:12 pm (UTC)Adam grins. "Well, we just dunked Pepper's little sister in the lake until she confessed. But she enjoyed the dunkin' so much, she forgot to confess until the torturers' arms got tired and they wanted to take a turn at bein' tortured, too."
no subject
Date: 2006-07-26 11:17 pm (UTC)'Maybe I should pay more attention,' she admits, smiling.
Adam's story makes her go into a peal of laughter. 'When'd you do that, then?'
no subject
Date: 2006-07-26 11:26 pm (UTC)Her laughter is contagious and Adam joins in. "Just before I turned eleven," he admits. "We were always doin' stuff like that. Playin' pirates and cowboys and everythin'. Wensley usually hadda be the damsel in distress 'cause Pepper wouldn't do it."
