Jack wandered down into the common room it was at some point in time, he didn't know quite what it was anymore, the choices he figured were that it was either disgustingly early or disgustingly late. Either way was awake. He's also got books. Which means he's thinking, that could be the reason he's not asleep. He dumps them on a table haphazardly and making a noise before sitting behind them. Where to begin, he sighs.

Sirius was sitting by himself in one of the wing-backed chairs near the fireplace in the Gryffindor Common Room. James was asleep upstairs, and Sirius had wandered down for a bit of a think in his old haunting grounds. He was awaiting a good number of return owls, including one from Harry about Sirius's potential move to Gryffindor, and the uncertainty was beginning to eat at him a bit. But it was comforting sitting in the same chair he had sat in so many times before, whether it was on the opposite end of a chess board from James or grouped around a table containing newly created segments of the Marauder's Map with James, Remus, and Peter. This room, more than anywhere at number twelve, Grimmauld Place, or the flat he had moved into after Uncle Alphard had left him all that money, or the place he had shared with Jim Morrison, was home.

A noise behind him yanked him from his reveries, and Sirius turned around to see who entered. It was some bloke he had never seen before--not that that was surprising, since there were a lot of unfamiliar people at this school.

"Oi, mate. Insomnia, too? I'm Sirius. Sirius Black."

"I recall meeting another Cap'n Jack before, but you most definitely are not that bloke. For one, you smell far less of alcohol," said Sirius. "Feel free to have a seat," he added, gesturing to a nearby chair. "Yes, you probably haven't seen me here because I'm not really in this house. Well, I used to be, many years ago, but then when I came back, I pushed for Slytherin and got accepted there, and now I'm sort of back here, at least temporarily, if not permanently. It's rather complicated." He leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes for a bit. "Are you in this house, or are you just squatting here like me?"

"Hypervodka? Never heard of it. Is it an Indian version of Firewhisky or something? Well, I'm never one to turn down a bit of alcohol, so if you've got some, I'd be up for trying it." He turned his chair a bit so he was able to see Jack more easily.

"That's nice, that you're with your friends. Everyone I know seems to be spread out amongst all the houses, even when the vast majority of us used to be Gryffindors. It's confusing. But at least we're all together again. A number of us were dead or presumed so, you know. So I know how you feel about being reunited. Your two mates are Gryffindors, then? Anyone I might know?"

Sirius accepted the bottle and took a swig. The stuff burnt a bit on the way down, but that was nothing new. All in all, it was pretty decent stuff.

"I didn't die, although it seems that a lot of people were under that impression. I just went to Reno, in America...which isn't really all that different from dying, in many ways. If it hadn't been for Jim, I might've died of loneliness." He took another swig. "The Doctor and Rose....I've met a lot of doctors here, so I'm not sure which one you're referring to. This place seems to be teeming with them. But I think I know Rose. Blond-haired bird, rather pretty?" He leaned back and dangled his feet over the arm of the chair. "I don't think I know a lot of Hufflepuffs, but on the whole, they seem like a murderous bunch...except for my cousin, that is. Is your Hufflepuff friend of the violent persuasion?"

"Reno's not particularly exciting. You haven't missed much. And Jim, well, you might have heard of him, as he was quite famous at one time. His last name's Morrison, and he used to front a very popular Muggle rock band a few decades ago. He's a good bloke." Sirius hadn't thought about Jim in a while. He wondered how he was doing. Perhaps it was time to send him an owl. It would be nice to hear from someone outside all of the craziness that Hogwarts had turned into.

"Hmm, 'the Doctor', as you say, sounds like someone I might have met at my Sorting. Well-travelled sort of bloke? I think he was friends with the blonde bird, so that probably is him." It was good to know some decent people were in Gryffindor, if Sirius was going to be spending a lot of time over there in the near future. Of course, he expected to be spending most of his time with James, but it was always good to meet new people.

Sirius took a big gulp from the bottle Jack had given him. "An adorable Hufflepuff doctor?" He idly wondered why so many people in Hogwarts seemed to be crazy when there were so many doctors floating about. "That's new. Are you sure he's not secretly murderous?"

"JD? I know a JD. In fact, I know a doctor Hufflepuff JD. He does have an adorable quality about him, despite the protests of my mate Cox. I think the two of them have some sort of strange history together. Damned if I can work out exactly what it is. At any rate, JD's a good bloke. And definitely not murderous as far as I can tell." Sirius took a little sip of the hypervodka and then added, "It sounds as if you've got some sort of history with him as well."

"Morfin's therapy session? Bloody waste of time, that thing was. Don't recall seeing you there, but then again, I recall very little of the entire ordeal, as someone apparently had the brilliant idea of shooting me up with some sort of Muggle Calming Draught. At least I didn't actually have to participate in any of the activities. I was forced into therapy when I was in Reno, too, and it was the daftest thing you can imagine." Sirius held up his bottle. "You know what the best therapy is? Firewhisky and sex. And it sounds like you had a good bit of the latter. Good on ya." He tipped the bottle back and took a swallow. "But getting your best mate back after nearly two decades is even better than all that, if you can believe it."

"Well done, then. JD's a lucky bloke. I wish someone had rescued me from there. Complete rubbish." Sirius idly swirled the remaining contents of the bottle around. "A best mate's the most important person in a bloke's life. It's great that you've got two of them, even if it took you a while to come by them."

"Thanks, mate." Sirius smiled a bit. "I take it you're an experienced counsellor, then? And that your other clients don't mind sharing their therapist?"

Sirius drained the contents of the hypervodka bottle and raised an eyebrow. "Group therapy, you say? Do you usually work with small or big groups?"

"They do both have their merits." Sirius leaned forward in his chair a bit. "Do you tend to work with co-ed groups or single sex?"

"I might be. But not if they involve talking about feelings or the use of hand puppets." Sirius paused and contemplated for a moment. "Actually, I can think of some pretty decent uses for hand puppets...uses that I'm not sure Morfin would approve of."

"Morfin's a good bloke, well meaning and all that, but I've no desire to do any of his activities. If he wouldn't approve of your activities, then surely I will enjoy them." Sirius smiled, but there was somewhat of a hint of bitterness to it. "Now, how do you feel about the use of medications at therapy sessions? I personally am always for the use of mind-altering substances, but strictly on a voluntary basis."
