After the WART show and the secrets board, Victor was feeling far more cheerful than he'd had in a while. He'd figured out how to conjure a small bouquet of sunflowers too (he was going to lie and say they were in congratulations for doing a great radio show.) So he checked to make sure he looked okay, and headed down to the Slytherin dorms to find out if Kate was in the mood to go to Hogsmeade, or hang out on the grounds or something.

She laughs, folding a leg under her and leaning closer. "We didn't even have a radio that worked... just Charlie with his guitar and Locke's weird stories. Sometimes it would be enough, to just listen and watch the fire... it calms you in a way that nothing I've ever watched on TV ever has. Then again, sometimes you miss good ol' passive, mind warping entertainment." She smiles, looking Victor in the eye for a moment before looking away. "Anyway. It's just something that struck me all of the sudden - that I haven't watched TV or seen a movie in over a year." She smiles wryly, absently, coffee cup poised just in front of her mouth. "I kinda like it."

She smiles, putting her own hand on his arm. "At least. Not many opportunities for dates, anyway." Kate takes a long, final sip of her coffee, then stands, holding her hand out to Voctor. "Lets do something... it's too nice out to be underground sipping coffee and talking about appliance repair."

Kate shrugs, laughing. "You know the school better... surprise me. Show me somthing unique." She doesn't let go of his hand, but squeezes it gently. "In the meantime... tell me about yourself. Seems like you know all about me..." a hint of a wry smile, "but I know almost nothing about you." She gives him a questioning look, tugging gently on his arm.

"Spiderman!" A grin surfaces, "That's awesome... don't see many superhero types around where I grew up. My dad served under Nick Fury, I think, but that's about the closest I've come." She settles into a slow walk, her hand still in Victor's. "I mean, 'till I came here. Never thought a school of magic would attract that sort... but I hear Gryffindor has more black leather and spandex than the X-men." Kate gives Victor a sidelong look as they reach the stairs ascending from the dungeons. "So. LA? We were on the way there when the plane went down... what's it like?"

"Better than Iowa. There, it's all-white, everywhere." She glances at Victor, and squeezes his hand, "I think I like a little variety, to be honest. Part of why I've lived a little just about everywhere you can think of." Kate squeezes his hand again, smiling faintly. "I have to say, though... this place is an experiment in mixing cultures. Can't be picky about the kind of people you hang out with based on appearances. It's good for the soul."

"That's the idea, yeah." She smiles, and nudges him softly. "Serial killers are iffy, though. Don't think I'll ever get used to that Nny guy. Too damn angry all the time." A pout floats across her lips, but a whistful look replaces it quickly. "Funny you should say robots, though. Dad used to keep me up late on sunday nights playing poker with bottlecaps for chips. He'd have his beers, and I'd have my IBC's, and we'd talk and play 'till two in the morning. Then he'd make popcorn - Lots of butter, not too much salt - and we'd flip past the early morning infomercials 'till we found Gigantor." She smiles, and kicks absently at the gravel as they skirt one of the walls. Quietly, tenatively, she sings.
'Gigantor the space age robot...
He's at your command
Gigantor the space age robot...
His power is in your hand'

She purses her lips, and looks up at Victor. "Dumb, huh? I mean... I was seven, and completely in love with a robot."

Kate pales a little, glad that he'd let go of her hand first. "Um." The wall of the castle presses up against her back, the cold stones draining what heat she has through her thin shirt. It's only now that she realizes that she'd been backing away. "Really? I mean... um. How? Like a cyborg?" She swallows, her palms flat against the wall. "Good or bad robot?" Oh, God. She thinks. Screwed that one to hell....
