((OOC: This is an open RP to all Nemo's friends, acquaintances, teachers, and anyone else passing by the sorting room. (Though, most won't recognize the little guy on first sight, I'd imagine.) Thanks to Psyche-mun for the chibi!post that inspired this storyline!))

When Nemo awoke from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed in a most peculiar way. The first thing he noticed was that all his toys - his little plastic diver guy, the snow globe from CMOT Dibbler, the shiny beads from his brand-new friend Snooch - seemed strangely very very small. Then he noticed that their edges seemed sort of wobbly fuzzy, as things outside his tank usually did. Then he noticed his tank - and the fact that he was outside of it!

"Aaah! Help!" he shouted, noticing that his voice seemed very loud. He started waving his fins, trying to jump up back inside the tank ... but wait. Those weren't fins at the side of his shoulders - Wha? He had shoulders? - they were hands. And now that he thought about it, he wasn't struggling to breathe, even in the air - he had a nose!

He looked down at himself, orange hair flopping in his eyes, and saw brown skin like the "ab-or-ijja-ne" people his dad had told him about. He wore an orange jacket with white stripes and a pair of orange pants that comfortably seemed to mimic scales. Nemo spread his hands out in front of him and wiggled the fingers - he had fingers! On his left hand, they were strong and flexible, moving independently. On his right hand, they were clumsy, moving all together or not at all.

'Hm,' thought Nemo, I guess I must be still me if I got my lucky fin - er, my lucky hand, I guess ... but what is going on?'

He looked up and saw a note folded over the edge of the tank.

"Hey, kid," it read, "I'm sorry, but I just need a weekend off. You can cart yourself around for a bit now, huh? Have fun! -- Domino."

Nemo blinked.

'I didn't know house elves could do that!', he thought. 'And now I'm here all alone and I'm a people, but I'm not supposed to be a people, I'm supposed to be a clownfish!'

With that, Nemo began to sob.

((OOC: Much homage to Franz Kafka for the way I began Nemo's realization.))

Wolfram von Bielefeld passes the sorting room in an attempt to find the Hufflepuff dormitory. He then hears a child's scream, a scream for help, and he immediately unsheathes his sword. He dashes into the sorting room with a battle cry on his lips, but when he sees only Nemo he stops. He gives the room one last scan before gracefully sheathing his blade.

He walks awkwardly to the child, clearing his throat. He was going to be a father one day, and it was necessary to get some practice. He already had a daughter, but what if he had a son? Besides... Wolfram couldn't leave a child crying.

He bends on a knee to get to Nemo's level. "Hello, little boy," he starts. He considers what he's about to say, what he could do to get the kid to like him. "Would you like me to read you a story?"

Yes, yes. Afterward I will take you swimming, but first I will read to you. *He sits down beside him, patting a knee* You may sit on my lap, Nemo.

*He takes a book from his pack, a heavy book which appears to be self-published. Wolfram reads the title* The Brave and Intelligent Lady Anissina: Her Adventures in Time and Space in Regards to Warfare, Inventions, and the Emancipation of Women. Third Edition. *He frowns. The only other book in his pack was written by Gunter, and he was not entirely sure that it was appropriate for little Nemo*

[[Chibi!Nemo appeals to my inner girl's need for cute. I'm very glad Terry's so busy. That way I can't totally ooc him and have him look after a small child. But I want to pet Nemo on the head, and kiss his nose and feed him chocolate now that he can actually eat it. So cute. *Is over come by the cute*]]

Oliver was walking around, doing whatever it is he does on the weekends. Quidditch was surely involved, but for once he wasn't carrying a broom or balls. He hears screams from the Sorting Room, and runs over to see what's wrong. He's surprised to see a little boy, Wolfram, and Ryuuji, but no Sorting Hat.

"What's up with all the noise over here?" he asks.

Oliver stared. "This is a joke, right? Like last week. You're Nemo in someone else's body. I've just never seen you before." He thinks about it for a second. "So I guess this means you can ride on a broom now, huh?"

((No problem!))

"Of course she does, you're a very good little boy." He sets Nemo down to grab a stool and saddle, and then begins to attach the latter to his horse. "Do you see how I'm locking it tight, Nemo? So that it's secure but not so tight that it hurts her?"

He then climbs on and makes sure that she walks next to the stool. "Now, climb the stool and reach up. I'll lift you the rest of the way."

Wolfram puts one arm protectively around Nemo's waist, the other holding the reigns commandingly. He keeps it at quite a slow pace, moving the child up so that he rested on Wolfram's knees, in order to prevent the ride from being to painful. "Yes, she enjoys it very much. Would you like to hold the reigns, too? Just try not to jerk them."

Oh God, a screaming kid, Grant thought, and quickened his pace. He never quite knew what to do with children, and he hoped that someone else would calm it down.

Oliver came back some time later with two broomsticks over his shoulder. One was his Puddlemere United broom, and the other was a smaller, shabby looking practice one. "Hey Nemo," he said, laying the brooms on the ground. "I found a broom for you."

From: [identity profile] big-broomstick.livejournal.com
"Yup, that's what the brooms are for. What you need to do is stand over the broom, and in a confident voice you say, 'Up, broom!'"

"So, to land the broom, you push down on it hard. When you get off I'll sticky you to my broom. Do you want to try a loop-de-loop or a dive first?" Oliver guided his broom to the ground and hopped off.

"Okay, just a sec." Oliver used the sticky spell to fasten Nemo's hands and pants to the broom. He stood back to examine his handiwork, then frowned. Something was missing. Oliver sat down and took his boots off. After unlacing the shoes he tied the laces around Nemo's waist and over the handle. He charmed the knots and cord to prevent it from snapping, and squished over in his socks to mount the broom. "I'm going to take it slow at first, until I get used to the extra weight. Are you ready?"
