Like ljsecret? Comment anonymously to this post with a graphic your character would make to represent his thoughts/feelings about something or someone. Then feel free to comment to anyone else's graphics, either ICly or OOCly.

A few minor points to bear in mind:

Images that are just spam or are so big they'll stretch the page will be screened, as will anything likely to 'trigger' muns or has been created solely for the purpose of causing wank. Under 800x600 is best, please.

Please don't char-bash without consent from the player. A loose or vague image that doesn't name the character or have a picture of them is fine, but nothing that explicits targets a character unless their mun okays it first. If you want your char free for any sort of image about them, feel free to comment with your list of chars to this post, and I'll add them to the list of free-speech chars. Please bear in mind that the characters will see the secrets, ICly, and probably try to guess who they're about. XD

There is a new noticeboard up outside the Great Hall and one by one, images are appearing pinned to the corkboard, with students tacking up thoughts on the images on index cards. Nobody can ever catch anyone posting an image, only the comments, and there is no way to use magic or science to know who posted what.

You speak from experience? I... kinda agree with that. And kinda not. Because if you've been hurt enough, and the wounds heal over, and then you try to open up to someone, it hurts you to do that. Because the scars break right open again. And the other way, when trust makes a shattered glass carpet, it hurts them.

Fine, I don't understand. Explain it to me then. Closing up just makes me pester you with questions. Like, what type of curse? And people dying, going crazy and losing each other still sounds about standard for life. You'd need to tell me that you bring bubonic plague in your wake for me to start getting worried. And even then, I'd be more worried for the other people in the castle than myself; you might not have noticed, but I'm not exactly the most careful person.

...It does. Knowing that not everyone has to suffer like I did. I mean, yeah, on one level it makes it worse because I end up dreadfully, achingly jealous of their ability to be unshadowedly happy, but on the other hand, I don't want everyone else to hurt just beecause I was. Well. Okay. Fine. Sometimes I do, but only sometimes. Most of the time, I'm nice to people because nobody was nice to me. Because I have the ability to give what I missed, and because I can do easily. So yeah, maybe it doesn't make easier to deal with, but I'd probably be a lot less 'kind' if I didn't know how badly I craved that kind of attention when I was kid.

It doesn't make it better, or make me feel better, but it makes things better for people around me.

I always thought that it only hurt to be cold when you started to thaw. Like frostbite - you're numb, and then the pain strikes once you warm up. But that's physical cold, and physical to emotional isn't a good analogy, I suppose.

...I. Can be. Cold, that is. Sort of, anyway. When I'm angry, not hurt but actually angry, I just go all cold and distance myself. Partly to make sure I don't lash out and hurt them, and partly so that I can't care if I do end up saying something I normally wouldn't. But you're right that I wouldn't choose to be like that normally. You can't be cold and still bask in the light of admiration.

Rosiel isn't here. We can deal with him when he arrives, if he ever arrives. And if you leave it in your wake, that means it only happens when you leave. At least, so one would assume logically. And we already talked about your father, and what you should do to change that. And I'm in danger anyway, don't worry about that part. One more angle to watch out for won't kill me.

...You sound like Marik. Except worse, because I can get why he's an idiot, but not you. You're the last person I'd expect to go along with the idea of being made for something and having no choice but to obey.

If it's any help, I'm not used to receiving affection beyond hero-worship and casual friendship either. And the romantic type, obviously, but that's a different matter. Since all the gifts I've got so far have been edible, best way to deal with them is to eat them. Out of sight, out of mind, and you've disposed of the evidence. ^_~

Most people don't like me being silent. It unnerves them. It means that when someone does protest, I remember it clearly.

Even if you gave it up, you'd still feel, though. It would just be less intense. And there are other good things. Like lips, and necks, an hipbones and collarbones - I think I just like anywhere that bones show up clearly under skin. Never found anorexics attractive, but I like the way that skin and flesh stretches tautly over bone. And you're allowed to whine. I whined at you, after all.

Oh, so that was a real nevermind and not a coax-me-into-talking-about-it nevermind? Right. I shall drop that topic like a hot potato (except I won't eat it when it's cooled down).

I don't think I want to forget about it completely, because it was rather a shock and I'd prefer to keep it in mind in case you ever pull something like that on me again, but I won't think about it, if that helps. I'm good at compartmentalizing like that - I'll remember it, but at a distance, where I won't see it unless something happens to make me think of it. Good enough?

Oh. Yeah, okay, I'll agree that this is better. Though I don't think that making a choice voids you of the right to complain about it, especially since the way you explained it makes being human sound like the lesser of two evils.

I have stored that away in my Fil-o-fax of a mind, and will remember it for the next time you employ the phrase. And look into getting you a raven. Do you have a pet already?
