Christine softly sang the Jewel Song from Faust as she wandered around the halls. She was almost giddy from the excitement of it all. Everyone had been so wonderfully kind at her sorting, and this place was really like a fairy tale. The portraits talked, for one thing. One had complimented her singing, which had been both indescribably odd and completely wonderful. The staircases moved, and she was sure the walls pretended to be doors from time to time.
She paused a moment and spun around slowly. The Hufflepuff Common Room was… oh dear. Was she lost? The Angel usually was upset with how absent-minded she was, and Christine had no doubt that he was right. She began the song again, and wandered up a staircase.
"Ah! je ris de me voir
si belle en ce miroir,
Ah!"
As she reached the crescendo on the ‘ah!’, the stair seemed to give way, and she sunk through it up to the thigh. Christine flushed in acutest embarrassment. If the Angel could see her now… he would probably congratulate her on her ‘ah!’ actually. Something about suddenly falling really helped her reach the overtones on the note. She attempted to pull herself out, and failed spectacularly. Her blush redoubled, and Christine hid her flushed face in her hands. Hopefully someone would help her out.
