Sarah had been looking for clothes. It was quite apparent she couldn't go running around with what she had on. That stuff was hideous, especially compared to what other people were wearing. And she figured she'd probably do something with her hair since apparently everyone and their mother was telling her it looked like Farrah Fawcett. Whoever that was. She didn't watch any tv. Too busy in the TARDIS.

So Sarah Jane was rifling through things, in one of the stores at Hogsmeade putting things in a pile to be tried on. And then she gasped, "My god.. women actually wear these??" she pulled out a rather teeny tiny bathing suit. "Well.. it is kind of cute." onto the try on pile.

Since school starts this Tuesday and I'm anticipating a much heavier workload this year, I am not going to be able to go on IRC half as much, and probably not able to stay up til 3am every night. (Just Fridays and Saturdays.)

I'll still respond to threads, etc, but if there's a post up that requires Mel, Tracy, Rose Casson or Rumpleteazer's input and I haven't replied, and it's been up for a bit: I probably won't have seen it, so poke me via email or comment me.

There's no way I'm giving up h_h, ever. Far too much fun =D

Hey, all. I've been reminded that the original "hey, want potions?" post was back at the end of March, when Stephen took the position of potions master ... which in terms of the history of the game is rather a long time ago, and we have lots of new players since then.

(Also, since then Ryuuji convinced Stephen to fire his first house-elf, who was known for spilling potions on people.)

So here's the spiel, as before: "OOC announcement: Yes, Dr Maturin is now Potions Master, and he's one of literature's great experimental drug users, so you can expect much wacky research into potions. Already he's found a recipe that enables mpreg, out of his concern for Ryuuji and Nightwing. If you want your character to do something plotwise that some insane potion would help along, feel free to have them pester Maturin, IC or OOC ... he's always up for a challenge, provided it doesn't go against his sense of ethics."

Examples of things he's made since then:
a potion that turns humans into fish and vice versa, for Nemo
a genderswitch potion, which was "accidental" and was done for a Jason and Tim plotline
a refinement of a commercially available ageing potion, for Dib
a de-ageing potion, for Sirius

(NB: Some of these effects are available more erratically via magic chocolates - e.g., there's a de-ageing chocolate, though it turns you into a small child, a la Afin or the ickle!Yubaris.)

Now for the "provided it doesn't go against his sense of ethics" bit: Maturin is a 19th-century Catholic physician. He's made certain characters give him justifications for what they want done, and required another to obtain prescriptions from doctors who aren't him. Because he's also canonically a paranoid bastard, stealing from the potions lab or storeroom is ICly not possible. However, he's got certain quirks of character that give his personal ethics some loopholes (e.g., in canon, one of his best friends is a former prostitute whom he illegally smuggles back from Australia, whither she was sentenced for blowing a man's head off via shotgun). In general, if you can appeal to his passion for scientific inquiry, and give him some excuse not to think he'd need to go to Confession for giving you the potion you want, he can be talked round.

If you want your char to get something by other means, e.g. on the commercial market, and it isn't known in the HPverse already, please do doublecheck with the potions master's mun (that would be me) on whether or not there are already HH storylines involving such a potion. It may already exist in HH canon and have certain properties defined for it for the purposes of someone else's previous storyline.

All that being said: At the moment, there is an unattended tray of genderswitch potion in the Marisoo sorting, left in the hands of Stephen's utterly baffled and clueless house elf. If you do not have genderswitch chocolates, and want to genderswitch, feel free to gank a vial or two of potion from poor Aloysius. Stephen will assume any character he sees genderswitched got that way via chocolates, and won't ask. He has other things on his mind at the moment. XD
