Tom-

I've just been in the hospital wing with Dr. Alan Grant. It seems that he was bitten by Mr. Greyback and it seems unusual that he is not currently in your employ. I can only assume that this was a mistake and am actually quite curious as to the situation.

If you would indulge me, I would be most grateful. I will be in the potions lab because I don't have one of my own =(

Sincerely,
Sluggy

Very Warded Return Owl

Sluggy,

Him.

It was a very big mistake and definitely should not have been allowed to occur. But for the massive stupidity that went on throughout the scene, it wouldn't have progressed as far as it did.

I'll come down then.

V-

RP

*enters silently, sweeping through the lab until he's right behind Sluggy* I do hope I'm not distracting you.

*looks at the potion* Wolfsbane. How droll.

*moves so that he's beside Slughorn* Would you like the long story or the short one? I do hope you prefer the short one as I've been dealing with the long one with others and it just keeps getting more inane.

*claw taps a vial* What was your price for him?

From what I've been told, Grant got himself lost somewhere in the West Tower. Rather than owl for help, he opted to simply write up a note and drop it out the window. It was found by Fenrir just as the full moon started to rise and so rather than go to the Forbidden Forest as he normally does when transformed, he headed into the tower to get Grant out.

As it happened, he transformed and attacked Grant, biting him in the process. A group of Ravenclaws found the note that Fenrir had left and went up to find him. From what I was told, Oz, the other werewolf in the place, decided to run off after Fenrir to stop him.

Fenrir attacked Oz. Oz transformed into a werewolf and they started fighting. Ryuuji, who had been with Oz at the time, stopped them both. He then transfigured both of them into harmless toys.

Dumbledore was called for and he retrieved Fenrir, then a plushie, and brought him to me. From what he said, apparently Minerva was also involved in the fray and had told the brats to fetch Albus. Because, you see, they couldn't reach this conclusion on their own.

It's likely Grant won't choose my side and even if he did, I truly want nothing to do with him. I cannot risk Fenrir's pack growing too large that we both end up losing control over it. Thus, I want his pack to actually be useful. Substantial. Able to pull their weight. I want werewolves who enjoy what they do, not wangst about it and Grant strikes me as the type who would do so.

And now you know what I know. Which is very little and yet, entirely ridiculous.

I do not want him but he should know that if he sides with Albus, I will personally make certain Fenrir finishes the job. I already told Albus I want nothing to do with this one and will make sure Fenrir keeps away from him. He, like me, agrees that the entire situation was not all Fenrir's fault.

I'm not surprised you were the first. The only other one who could make the potion belongs solely to me. *touches Slughorn's arm, stilling his movements for a time* Grant could have cost Fenrir his job and, perhaps, his life had Albus made the wrong choice. If the fool cannot offer you something better than what I can offer you, then I ask that you no longer make this potion for him.

*knows it's a small bit to ask, especially if pride gets in the way*

He knows how to owl people. That's not much of an explanation. He could have easily summoned one since he was near a window to begin with. The very first spell a wizard normally learns is the accio spell. Most of the time, it's done wandless by a young wizard. He should have called on a responsible adult or staff member. He damn well should know the sort of people we have in this school. Like Fenrir. Or me.

It is fair, Sluggy. You and I both know whom else could capture your ear in regard to this. Fortunately, Albus is aware of Grant's own stupidity in this matter as well. I'm asking for Fenrir's sake but Albus may very well ask for his own and while Albus and I can equal out one another, you and I both know that another will far outweigh either of our arguments.

*means Minerva, knows about their relationship after all since Sluggy told him* Don't let her draw you into this. It's not worth it.

It is not just my affair, Horace. It stopped being just my affair when other people got involved. I was literally the last person to know about this and only because Albus deigned to inform me and bring Fenrir to me. *getting agitated* I am not saying you shouldn't keep him around. I am asking that you do not grant him any favours for nothing, which you already said you wouldn't do.

I'd also appreciate you updating me if he does bother to choose a side.

Yes, he's a teacher. Arithmancy, I believe. From what I heard from Tom, he's not too good at answering the questions he's been asked.

I don't know about Fenrir. Albus and I are still in the process of writing up a letter to the Headmistress. He wanted to wait for me to send it off. Fenrir's being disciplined by myself in the meantime. *leaves that issue alone*

*moves his hand off of Sluggy's arm* I've found him quite useless. I was hoping you'd see so as well. But just so you know, he has no connections on my own part.

I know the feeling. Although I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting a few who actually bothered to come to me for more knowledge. Despite the rumours and the naysaying that goes on here. There will always be exceptions, I'm sure.

*eyes the knife, raises an eyebrow* If you insist.

Albus is kind. You know what he'll say. But then, he also knows you and how you work. I doubt he can force you to do anything, but he may try to bribe you. Whatever he offers, I can double it. While Grant means nothing to me, I do want him to suffer for what he put Fenrir through. *and myself, he adds mentally; doesn't like being left out of the loop and feeling a bit helpless when it comes to his own*

Severus isn't doing it for Lupin. Lupin is a member of the Order. To help him would mean aiding the Order. Aside from actual Order members, I've no idea just who would aid him. *said ever so casually*

I tried to talk Tom out of taking that course. We have our own education in the matter, but I think he wanted to hear what the Mudblood would have to say. Does it matter if he's part of the staff?

I want him to suffer until I'm sure he's paid through.

Tell me what it is you would like then. You normally do have certain things in mind.

*hates these negotiations, but will do them for Sluggy and no one else; fear is so much cleaner, purer*

Again, unless someone in the Order helped him, he goes without. He did tell Severus that he'd get it from you, though. Awfully kind of you since he has no real connections to speak of and certainly no money. Perhaps he'll pay you in chocolate.

He influences children. As do you. As do I. As does Albus and Severus. This hardly helps his connections any as he has not your ambition, nor your subtle abilities, nor even your motivations. He is lacking on all fronts, Sluggy. Why else do you think I'm disinclined to accept him? And you know my thoughts on waste.

*doesn't laugh; rather, gives Sluggy a very long look*

...

*cough* Love poetry? *thinks about this* All right. I can see that. Expect an owl very shortly.

Quite a few have a kinship with him. He's a chibi of all things. I will never understand how he got that way.

Well, you've talked to him. How did he seem?

All Ravenclaws seem intelligent. Normally, that's why they're placed in the house in the first place. It's when they actually make decisions does the idiocy come leaking out of them. Buckets worth.

*watches him*

How are you and Minerva anyway?

Walden is intelligent. Unlike the rest of them, he knows where his strengths lie and he's not afraid to use them and nor is he afraid of following orders or getting aid if the situation demands it.

Oh? Where? Not some ritzy place, I would hope. *smirk* Going to try and impress her? I may just have to show up and try to steal her away from you by swinging down from a vine in the restaurant, snatch her away while laughing manically, and bring her to my lair of doom.

You may rescue her only after I finish telling her my diabolical plans, of course.

True intelligence is knowing one's limits.

*purry* I think I would enjoy that a bit too much. And you know, he may very well eat them.

Oh, I can tell you more. *but heads off nonetheless* No idea what you'd speak to him about, save for the entire massive fuck up that was that entire night.

Sleep well, Sluggy. *leaves*
