Tom-
I've just been in the hospital wing with Dr. Alan Grant. It seems that he was bitten by Mr. Greyback and it seems unusual that he is not currently in your employ. I can only assume that this was a mistake and am actually quite curious as to the situation.
If you would indulge me, I would be most grateful. I will be in the potions lab
Sincerely,
Sluggy
Very Warded Return Owl
Date: 2006-02-28 04:18 am (UTC)Him.
It was a very big mistake and definitely should not have been allowed to occur. But for the massive stupidity that went on throughout the scene, it wouldn't have progressed as far as it did.
I'll come down then.

Date: 2006-02-28 04:25 am (UTC)*magically shuts the door, locks and wards it, almost as paranoid as Voldie, at least when it comes to potions*
Just cleaning up the mess. They're worse now than ever before, I tell you.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 04:27 am (UTC)*moves so that he's beside Slughorn* Would you like the long story or the short one? I do hope you prefer the short one as I've been dealing with the long one with others and it just keeps getting more inane.
*claw taps a vial* What was your price for him?
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 04:32 am (UTC)He's yet to offer anything, but he's aware I'm not doing this for the price of nothing. I've already told him that I wish to see him choose a side, whether it be you - to whom he belongs already - or Albus, who can keep him safe from you. *slight smirk* Currently I'm just making the potion to keep from going out of my mind. I've read everything in my library twice and what with all the students and indeed, amateur adult potion makers running around, the lab is hardly free. Severus can have the bloody position - they're mostly idiots, I tell you.
*calms down, didn't really mean any of that, is just going a little stir crazy*
I apologize. At least in retirement I had my own house with my own laboratory and could make things as I wished. Made more than a few accidents in my experimenting, but there was no pressure. I'm afraid being cooped up here has made me a bit stir-crazy. Ah well, at least I'll be getting out this Friday for a bit. *cheeky grin, but doesn't say anything else - pulls out a scroll from Belby himself with the exact wolfsbane instructions*
I was the first one he notified, you know. *proud*
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 04:44 am (UTC)As it happened, he transformed and attacked Grant, biting him in the process. A group of Ravenclaws found the note that Fenrir had left and went up to find him. From what I was told, Oz, the other werewolf in the place, decided to run off after Fenrir to stop him.
Fenrir attacked Oz. Oz transformed into a werewolf and they started fighting. Ryuuji, who had been with Oz at the time, stopped them both. He then transfigured both of them into harmless toys.
Dumbledore was called for and he retrieved Fenrir, then a plushie, and brought him to me. From what he said, apparently Minerva was also involved in the fray and had told the brats to fetch Albus. Because, you see, they couldn't reach this conclusion on their own.
It's likely Grant won't choose my side and even if he did, I truly want nothing to do with him. I cannot risk Fenrir's pack growing too large that we both end up losing control over it. Thus, I want his pack to actually be useful. Substantial. Able to pull their weight. I want werewolves who enjoy what they do, not wangst about it and Grant strikes me as the type who would do so.
And now you know what I know. Which is very little and yet, entirely ridiculous.
I do not want him but he should know that if he sides with Albus, I will personally make certain Fenrir finishes the job. I already told Albus I want nothing to do with this one and will make sure Fenrir keeps away from him. He, like me, agrees that the entire situation was not all Fenrir's fault.
I'm not surprised you were the first. The only other one who could make the potion belongs solely to me. *touches Slughorn's arm, stilling his movements for a time* Grant could have cost Fenrir his job and, perhaps, his life had Albus made the wrong choice. If the fool cannot offer you something better than what I can offer you, then I ask that you no longer make this potion for him.
*knows it's a small bit to ask, especially if pride gets in the way*
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 04:53 am (UTC)And this man is supposed to be in Ravenclaw? *raised eyebrow* I suppose you just have to be intelligent but not smart to be in that house. Perhaps there were no owls about? *not trying to make excuses, but trying to figure out why* He is - was - a Muggle after all. From what I understand, they don't often use owls for post. Then again, being in a wizarding school, he should have realized this.
I already told you that I don't plan to give something for nothing. It's a shame that you wouldn't take him even though he belongs to you. I'm hard pressed to see how he can be of any use to me just now. *slight smile* Tom, you know that he can't offer me anything better than you. You, the Dark Lord, and one of my oldest and dearest friends - just having you as a connection outweighs most of what others can offer me. That's hardly fair, I hope you know.
I do respect the fact that he endagered one of your own, but that is your own affair and while I like Mr. Greyback and adore you, if Grant can offer me something important, I'd like to keep him around. He's already invited to the Slug Club where I hope to get a chance to talk to him about this. *gestures to the wolfsbane potion scroll* I think he understands that this is something much larger than can be paid for by mere candy.
*finishes laying out all the ingredients and starts to prepare, working methodically*
He's also a teacher, is he not? *said conversationally*
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:06 am (UTC)It is fair, Sluggy. You and I both know whom else could capture your ear in regard to this. Fortunately, Albus is aware of Grant's own stupidity in this matter as well. I'm asking for Fenrir's sake but Albus may very well ask for his own and while Albus and I can equal out one another, you and I both know that another will far outweigh either of our arguments.
*means Minerva, knows about their relationship after all since Sluggy told him* Don't let her draw you into this. It's not worth it.
It is not just my affair, Horace. It stopped being just my affair when other people got involved. I was literally the last person to know about this and only because Albus deigned to inform me and bring Fenrir to me. *getting agitated* I am not saying you shouldn't keep him around. I am asking that you do not grant him any favours for nothing, which you already said you wouldn't do.
I'd also appreciate you updating me if he does bother to choose a side.
Yes, he's a teacher. Arithmancy, I believe. From what I heard from Tom, he's not too good at answering the questions he's been asked.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:18 am (UTC)So the situation was handled very, very poorly. *stops messing about with his ingredients, sits down, and looks up at Voldie* It's good that you had Albus to inform you of everything that went on, or else it could have been very messy. I take it that Fenrir isn't going to suffer any disciplinary actions, seeing as how it was Grant's idiocy that got him bitten in the first place?
I promise you, Lord that I will not give him the potion for nothing. If he cannot find a use for himself then I have no need for him. I don't like waste, either, but I cannot tolerate uselessness. Why do you think so many students hated my class? Yes, I had my favorites - those who actually would amount to something. Others... they aren't worth my effort.
*sighs, goes back to dicing and slicing - sleeves rolled up for this part*
I don't wish to talk about Minerva concerning this subject. She hasn't approached me about it, nor do I plan on telling her anything of it unless she asks. *turns and points with his paring knife at Voldie* And it's not your business what I discuss with her, either. You remember that. *in a playfully chiding way - hates when things get too serious - goes back to his ingredients*
I have to speak with Albus on the situation. You've already made it quite clear you want nothing to do with Grant. I need to hear it from Albus as well and from there I can make my decision on what to do. *smirks a little* I'm actually surprisd he hasn't come to me sooner to request a potion for Remus Lupin. Unless Severus is already doing it...?
As for Grant being a teacher, well, I never was one for Arithmancy. The only numbers I care to deal with are potions ingredients, you understand. But Tom is brilliant and I trust his judgement. We'll see how he continues to teach with his new... disability. As he seems to be treating it as such.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:36 am (UTC)*moves his hand off of Sluggy's arm* I've found him quite useless. I was hoping you'd see so as well. But just so you know, he has no connections on my own part.
I know the feeling. Although I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting a few who actually bothered to come to me for more knowledge. Despite the rumours and the naysaying that goes on here. There will always be exceptions, I'm sure.
*eyes the knife, raises an eyebrow* If you insist.
Albus is kind. You know what he'll say. But then, he also knows you and how you work. I doubt he can force you to do anything, but he may try to bribe you. Whatever he offers, I can double it. While Grant means nothing to me, I do want him to suffer for what he put Fenrir through. *and myself, he adds mentally; doesn't like being left out of the loop and feeling a bit helpless when it comes to his own*
Severus isn't doing it for Lupin. Lupin is a member of the Order. To help him would mean aiding the Order. Aside from actual Order members, I've no idea just who would aid him. *said ever so casually*
I tried to talk Tom out of taking that course. We have our own education in the matter, but I think he wanted to hear what the Mudblood would have to say. Does it matter if he's part of the staff?
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:45 am (UTC)*verrry tricky, these negotiations, but loves it all the same*
So Lupin isn't take the potion then, either. *wheels a'turnin' - wonders what Lupin could give him for it, and wouldn't mind making it every month*
Does it matter? Of course it does. Teachers are often in positions of influence. You above all people know that. As for Tom, he's a very curious boy and he'll do as he wishes concerning his eduction. He's intelligent enough to recognize drivel when he sees or hears it and I wouldn't be too worried about him. Just the other students.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:50 am (UTC)Tell me what it is you would like then. You normally do have certain things in mind.
*hates these negotiations, but will do them for Sluggy and no one else; fear is so much cleaner, purer*
Again, unless someone in the Order helped him, he goes without. He did tell Severus that he'd get it from you, though. Awfully kind of you since he has no real connections to speak of and certainly no money. Perhaps he'll pay you in chocolate.
He influences children. As do you. As do I. As does Albus and Severus. This hardly helps his connections any as he has not your ambition, nor your subtle abilities, nor even your motivations. He is lacking on all fronts, Sluggy. Why else do you think I'm disinclined to accept him? And you know my thoughts on waste.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 05:57 am (UTC)Love poetry, preferably nothing too cheesy. I'm having a hard time finding any. And if you laugh, I will force feed you frog eyeballs until you vomit.
*now that that's passed, is back to his cheery self*
I have more than enough chocolate. I've been sharing it with Little Tom - he's very fond of sweets. We have a kinship now, you know. *laughs*
I've had little interaction with him, but everything I'm hearing is in the negative, unfortunately. We shall just have to see, Tom. I can only promise what I've promised thus far.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 06:12 am (UTC)...
*cough* Love poetry? *thinks about this* All right. I can see that. Expect an owl very shortly.
Quite a few have a kinship with him. He's a chibi of all things. I will never understand how he got that way.
Well, you've talked to him. How did he seem?
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 06:19 am (UTC)*fills the cauldron with water, turns on the heat and lets it get to a boil*
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:19 am (UTC)*watches him*
How are you and Minerva anyway?
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:21 am (UTC)*working diligently and with much more graceful hands than one would expect from such a large man*
We're fine. *smiles* After all, it's only been a few days. We're going on this Friday, though. *excited about that*
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:34 am (UTC)Oh? Where? Not some ritzy place, I would hope. *smirk* Going to try and impress her? I may just have to show up and try to steal her away from you by swinging down from a vine in the restaurant, snatch her away while laughing manically, and bring her to my lair of doom.
You may rescue her only after I finish telling her my diabolical plans, of course.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:44 am (UTC)I don't think a ritzy place would suit Minerva. And if you try that, Tom, I will castrate you and serve your testicles to Albus on a silver platter garnished with caviar.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:50 am (UTC)*purry* I think I would enjoy that a bit too much. And you know, he may very well eat them.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 07:52 am (UTC)...And I will file that one under, 'Things I never needed to know about Albus' sex life.'
Thank you, Tom, I will be ill for the rest of the evening.
*but smiling now*
Now shoo. I have to concentrate on this. And I'll speak to Dr. Grant about this.
Re: RP
Date: 2006-02-28 08:03 am (UTC)Sleep well, Sluggy. *leaves*
