Christmas. How special. A bog-standard winter festival, common on planets with the right meteorological profile. Of course, Christmas had developed certain associations for the Master. It would put him in quite a foul mood to think about them, and he'd been in rather a good mood... it would be a shame to let that slip away, wouldn't it?



"Oh, look. It's a human religious holiday! One of a whole slew of them... indecisive lot, aren't you? I suppose it's time for another PSA. Seasons are caused by scientific phenomena. Your invisible sky friends have nothing to do with it."

"It’s a festive day for so much of this little planet. And you humans can be so very festive. Festive spelled v-i-o-l-e-n-t, of course. Oh, the things you do to each other!"

"But really, we don't need to focus just on holiday themes. Life goes on, after all. We still have the same motivations on Christmas as we do the rest of the year, don't we?"

"Oh, now, that was a bit melancholy, wasn't it? How about something chipper? It's a good day for chipper, isn't it?"

"Merry Christmas, kiddies. Merry Christmas, Doctor."

Why not turn your attention to more constructive matters? Destroy a major city, consider my offer of a.. sojurn into the city with my two friends..

Baiting them is like a child kicking over an anthill. Destructive and fruitless.

Destructive, therefore not fruitless. Destruction is sweet and juicy and sometimes available seedless!

Are you interested in putting your skills to better use than taunting humans? I sense you are capable of far more than that.

It's more complicated than hatred. And petty as it is, I get immense satisfaction from making them squirm.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't welcome a more focused diversion.
